The Robert Mueller Investigation

so it looks like the redactions are labeled.  do we know how much was redacted based on "ongoing investigations"?  more specifically, how much was kept out to preserve the sdny investigation?  that's the one i'm interested in, because they've got to have january 21st, 2021 circled on their calendar.  in the meantime, i wonder if they're gonna start going after people who aren't the president.

Barr Releases Catatonic Mueller After Removing All Sensitive Material From Special Counsel’s Brain

Spoiler

q7jrr4ecatqc9qebgenw.jpg

WASHINGTON—In an attempt to satisfy calls for transparency while also keeping delicate information under wraps, Attorney General William Barr announced Thursday that he had released a catatonic Robert Mueller after excising all sensitive material from the special counsel’s brain. “With the cuts we’ve made to his prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, we can now make Robert Mueller available to both Congress and the American people,” said Barr, who explained that in the four weeks since the special counsel’s investigation ended, the Justice Department had gone to great lengths to capture, confine, and forcibly lobotomize Mueller, ensuring any material deemed unsuitable for the public would remain secret. “In order to keep the details of grand jury testimony and ongoing investigations confidential, we carefully blacked out his memory of the past two years before releasing him. Unfortunately, it would appear this safety precaution has also resulted in Mr. Mueller forgetting how to speak, walk, and feed himself.” At press time, sources confirmed the drooling, glassy-eyed special counsel was set to testify before the House Judiciary Committee, whose members were trying to get him to respond to his name so they could swear him in.

They aren't going to tell you which ongoing matter it pertains to under any circumstances. A great deal of the HOM redactions pertain to the ongoing  Russian prosecutions and the Stone prosecution.

Ok I’ve read a little more. One thing is crystal clear, the president is guilty of obstruction of justice.

Mueller declined to recommend prosecution for that obstruction by trump because of DOJ policy not to indict a sitting president. It’s clear if trump wasn’t the president he would have recommended prosecution.

Barr chose not to prosecute claiming a different reason than DOJ policy, that basically you can’t obstruct justice if there was no underlying criminal act, which is of course total bullshit.

Way too many redactions to really evaluate the first section. I still don’t see how Manafort giving the Russians internal polling data isn’t evidence to support a conspiracy though, but maybe that’s explained in the redactions.

The Russians could have used that data to focus their IRA trolling internet efforts on key midwestern states, like the three states where everyone else’s polling was off, Michigan Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, which I’m betting they actually did.

Nope, neither of these types of people exist. There may be some people who in polite company say they are "not really comfortable with how he conducts himself" and some may even go so far as to express something like this in public, but all of them--every single one--will vote for him again. The opponent will be a "socialist" who is "just too dangerous" to let win. He was a shitbag when they voted for him the first time, there was zero legitmiacy to him as a candidate then and they still gladly voted for him. They will do it again, no doubt about it.

We don't need all of them to change their vote.  I can see 1 or 2% naive folks who thought he would eventually stop his shtick and start to "act Presidential" when he was elected change their mind.   1 or 2% is all it should take, really.

Someone is going to ask Mueller this in his Congressional testimony.

It's clear to me that President of the US is given great responsibility which gives him/her a great amount of latitude to get away with breaking the law if he/she is a lying, conniving, unscrupulous, scumbag.

we elected a a lying, conniving, unscrupulous, scumbag.

If Mr. Trump had any other job title, he would be indicted right now for any number of crimes that have been highlighted here for the last 3 years.

So from headlines, the summary is no obstruction exists because aides refused to carry out orders. Fox news says Trump embarrassed himself but no obstruction. I guess everyone is going to spin this one how they want too. Bottom line veep got it right "I say shit you say show" Shit, Show, Shit, Show.

No shit!

no you dumbshit, he actively tried to end the investigation because he decided the investigation would be the end of his presidency. nobody that worked for him would listen to him though because they know he's insane.

Actually the report makes clear that collusion did happen, a lot of it.

And Trump didn't just want the investigation to end, he took steps to try and make that happen, which is called obstruction of justice.

Try to keep up.

In my opinion, I think the Trumpers believe that the Russia-Trump Collusion Narrative was all a plan B if Hillary and Co. lost the election.  I think what they fear most, as you said, is the idea of radical leftist ideologies taking grip so much that they prefer Trump over the idea of that any day all day.

I've also had some Trumper friends of mine suggest that this plan B goes all the way back to the Obama administration.  A name that was brought up to me was Samantha Powers, who was an ambassador to the UN, that put in a massive amount of unmasking requests against Trump Admin staff and transition team members. I searched it up and below kind of covers it, but interesting nonetheless.

The gist I got out of his sentiment was that the Russia-Trump Conspiracy Theory will go down as the biggest political scandal in US History when you look at all the intelligence agencies and government officials that cooperated to push the narrative through their MSM outlets (which why the fuck is John Brennan and James Clapper, who lied about NSA surveillance, mouthpieces for CNN etc.?)

The idea that our intelligence agencies, media, and DNC operatives could actively work together to try and undermine the elected President of the US sounds like a conspiracy theory though right?  There's no way that should happen.

Thats where I’m at. How you defend his actions is beyond me at this point.

He’s opened the door for someone smarter, more disciplined and craftier to take the country where we want it to be taken when it comes to immigration, foreign policy, and the economy. He has led to the purging of RINOs and to refashioning the GOP into a populist, hard line immigration party. There are millions of us that are very happy about that. As the 5th straight re-election of Netanyahu has proved in Israel, the majority tune out the sky is falling bs from Haaretz and the NYT about creeping “authoritarianism”. Y’all ignore the loyalty Trump has built up with the base at your peril. It’s an emotional connection because he is saying what we’re thinking and have wanted to be said for a long time. Highlight pieces of the report and parse words all you want. They didn’t prosecute and did not find him directly conspiring with Russia. That’s all that matters. Like Clinton, Trump will see a bump in his approval ratings if impeached paving the way for 2020, especially if the hordes keep coming down at the border.

That is not what that means, Katie. Fucking twitter.

What aspects of her one-sentence hot take are out of bounds?  It would seem OLC believes Congress can "permissibly criminalize" some obstructive conduct.  Whether that allows Congress to take a prosecutor's role is presumably incorrect?

great summary.  and infuriating that there are people still defending this criminal traitor.

That’s because people in this country easily confuse politics with team sports and cannot for the life of them understand the difference between the two.

essentially he used the nixon line of thinking which was "i know these things are against the law, but if i'm the president, and i do them, then by definition, they're not against the law" (paraphrasing from memory).

the unfortunate thing is that it's not just "being the president" it's really being a shady, rich, business scumbag.  he's been doing the same shit his whole adult life, it just hasn't been in public office.  i would assume he's committed a ton of tax fraud, insurance fraud (according to michael cohen, so who knows), made people around him do illegal shit his whole life.  bribes, kickbacks, payoffs.  he gets away with it because money gets away with things.  he didn't learn this behavior from some white house handbook the day he moved in.

which is one of the reasons it won't happen.  unless they have senate votes in the bank, there's no reason to do it.

but hey, maybe someday his approval rating will sniff 50%, right?

He has also paved the way for authoritarian control for some people. Some stupid facebook post that was going around said guns were taken in Russians because people gave up their rights. They fail to mention that many Russians fought a revolution to voluntarily and happily give up their rights to an authoritarian government. That is how it happens, people that can't see the failures of a way of thought happily embrace it. Trumpkins and socialist suffer from the same disease, that is why I choose being an independent.

There's no pleasing you guys. The summary wasn't good enough... You wanted the full report, which upon release, ultimately comes to the same conclusion that there wasn't enough evidence to charge the President with obstruction, and now you want to see the unredacted version, which while illegal, MUST have the real evidence hidden within the small blocks of text that were redacted. Good grief.

What's you guys?  I'm not a Democrat.  I've also never seen this level of lying bullshit from any President from either party.  It's a fucking disgrace.  And his AG not even pretending to be neutral?  Do you know anything about separation of powers?

Yes, I am extremely disappointed that a POS con man is POTUS, that he repeatedly tried to obstruct justice and seems to have succeeded in doing so.  I"m disappointed that we have an AG who believes that his primary job responsibility is to protect this POS, and I"m disappointed that ~40% of the country thinks this is all fine.

There's a lot to be disappointed about today.

Barr is just being Trump's wingman.  Just following Holder's precedent.
