CNN obtained some footage from documentary makers of stone straight up laying out the jan6 playbook, and cheerfully talking about how they can use their judges in the courts to get favorable judgements to keep pushing their narrative.

Also was a bucket of cold water to see Kyle fucking rittenhouse merch on the MAGA fascists talking with stone. Fuck me we have a fascist problem that our courts will never get around to dealing with

Edit: whoops thought this was the Jan6 thread

I meant to post this earlier, and yeah, it could go in the Jan. 6 thread, and no it’s not news, but Steve Bannon also announced the plan beforehand. They’re not trying to hide anything.

Could be one of a number of reasons.  We'll likely never know (due to attorney-client privilege).

Oh, Trump will tell us that the un-special attorney was a leftist plant sent to sabotage him.  You can interpret that as he didn't like being told by a Lawyer that he was screwed.

so since they wanted to go this way, but not actually participate in the process, doesn't this pretty much confirm that it was (once again) just a stall tactic?

and how is this handled if he never actually does his part?  or as it was earlier stated, if no 3rd party vendor agrees to provide portal service to his nonsense?  at what point can the doj file a "enough is enough" motion?

You need confirmation that this is all stall tactics?

i don’t, but was curious how the process works when the judge/spec master gets there. twice explained it pretty well.

I don't see the Haberman story being a big deal. He didn't tell her he kept classified documents. Just that he had some memento type documents. It certainly didn't hint at anything illegal. It only looks like a bigger story now because we know he did in fact keep a lot of sensitive material that he should not have had.

Yeah, I don't see this as a big story either.  We know Trump has done a lot of bad things and can imagine we only know half of it. So why blame a single reporter when lots of people (NARA, DoJ, and probably everyone at the CIA and FBI) should already be aware of this?

There are multiple reports on the twitters that trump filed his objections under seal. Not sure why it’s not showing pacer.

Also Teri Kanefield is a really good twitter follow for information on the legal proceedings.

You know, I can't reconcile some of the Trump stuff. I mean, he does have a huge tower in NYC. His hotels are known to be nice. Mar-a-Lago is a nice piece of real estate (just don't ask about the interior design). Golf courses. There are ventures that seem well done.

Then there are just all the weird things -- the people he surrounds himself with (A guy that sells pillows? Really?) and just off the wall laughable things he does. Four Seasons Landscaping. McDonald's for a White House dinner. Not knowing when to be quiet for his own advantage. Trump steaks. Burying an ex-wife at a golf course.

It's like two completely different worlds where the person who did one venture isn't even the same person that did the other stuff. It's like Howard Hughes-esque or something.

Not sure I'd call Trump Tower huge, it's 58 floors and a pretty small footprint.

I think it is most notable for being a mixed use development on Fifth Avenue among deteriorating retail in an era or time when NYC was run down, so maybe somewhat "visionary" or maybe foolhardy at the time.

I dunno, the guy can put together projects and syndicates with other people's money and take exorbitant fees.  He maybe hires good architects and decorators.  Im not sure how praiseworthy any of that really is, especially considering how many of his other projects have failed miserably.

Golf courses look lucrative but apparently it's extremely tough to make money on them. It's one of those things you undertake because you love golf (or love to show off - that might fit the narrative better here), not because you want to make money.

Yep.  Apparently Trump's dad gave him a bunch of apartments when he died.  Trump sold them off because they're not sexy.  They may not be sexy, but apartments make money hand over fist.

Trump is good at branding and putting his name on stuff

He’s also good at avoiding liability and laundering money

He’s only good at things that feed his narcissism.

Trump doesnt do operations and does not actually run things.

Based on what I've seen, I'm doubtful that Donald Trump himself has had any meaningful impact on the various enterprises that have his name attached to them.  He has a whole business organization full of people working for him. They do everything. He sits back and takes credit for it all. He's just a figurehead or maybe more like Colonel Sanders. Colonel Sanders doesn't actually make the fried chicken. Trump was given everything he has to start with and then other people took it from there and made it work (or not).

I can't find a Trump letter or motion or any other document making objections to anything, so it's hard to tell what the gubmint is responding to there.

It may have been things said at the hearing.

I did find, though, that none of the vendors agreed to contract with Trump.  Accordingly, the government will be the contracting party and Trump will be ordered to pay the vendor's invoices.  So that's how that gets resolved.

Basically, if it's court you can count on Trump to be dilatory at any opportunity.

The thing is, though, most civil court proceedings take place away from the courtroom and largely out of the sight and supervision of the judge.  So it's really easy to futz around and be disingenuous until the other side gets fed up and makes a motion to try to get you to "behave."  Then you say you'll behave and promptly don't, futz around some more until the other side files a motion to take you back to court.  Rinse/Repeat until you get the Alex Jones default, if you go that far.  Then, if you're Trump, you settle.

This, on the other hand, is HIGHLY interactive with Dearie and taking place on a short time frame, so Trump is not going to get away with futzing around like usual.  He's gonna try, but he's going to get called on it early and often.

The law's against him, the facts are against him, this judge ain't standing for his usual bullshit.  So, Trump's going to get himself some delay.  He also seemingly is going to get legally and every other way pantsed and embarrassed.

I can confirm that we rejected his request to host the data.

Quote

As president, Donald Trump weighed bombing drug labs in Mexico after one of his leading public health officials came into the Oval Office, wearing a dress uniform, and said such facilities should be handled by putting “lead to target” to stop the flow of illicit substances across the border into the United States.

“He raised it several times, eventually asking a stunned Defense Secretary Mark Esper whether the United States could indeed bomb the labs,” according to a new book by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman. White House officials said the official, Assistant Secretary for Health Brett Giroir, often wore his dress uniform for meetings with Trump, which confused him.

The response from White House aides was not to try to change Trump’s view, but to consider asking Giroir not to wear his uniform to the Oval Office anymore,” Haberman writes in “Confidence Man,” an extensive book about Trump’s time in New York and as president.

Yes his is horribad.  His projects don't necessarily reflect his taste.

Trump Tower, opinions vary.

He/Ivana are apparently responsible also for the 80s-90s renovation of the Plaza Hotel, which I think was "historically accurate" and receives general approval and may be his most "important" project to date.  I'm no authority on such things, perhaps NYphiles like Penelope can confirm, but supposedly prior to Trump, the Plaza had become a nice/interesting building housing an increasingly corporate hotel, and then they came along and "restored it to it's former glory," and subsequent renovations have hewed to that theme.

I think that is mostly true.

There is still some room for shenanigans regarding executive privilege and even what are and aren't Presidential Records.  But it looks like those issues are pretty safe with Dearie, if not Cannon, and they wouldn't much affect any criminal prosecution.
