Jimbo 2019: The Only Tail Getting Busted is Candi's

So aggy is banking on Green and Shepherd plus JAG's from Florida that none of the big 3 in-state schools want for OL?  Going to be glorious if we get Shepherd.

You see, Jimbo recruits nationally. He scours the country for the best players. He tells his quarterbacks not to cross their eyes and works individually with them on handing off the ball. Folks, we've never seen anything like this. That's why the sips are shaking in their faggy boots.

Jimbo knows how to poke the sleeping giant to awaken it.

Of course, anyone sleeping looks like a giant to him.

I've heard they'll set up non-football style competitions (Xbox/PlayStation tournaments, board games, tug of war, charades, scavenger hunts) throughout the day with visitors put on teams.

Christ on a cracker what an unbelievably lame ass event and town.  At least they're being honest about what they have to offer.

They'll end it with a game of Grabass and the coup de grace, Hide the Salami.

Rambling Perroni article that starts as an article about a walk on OC leaving the program after a year and heading to play for Sumlin in Arizona ... then goes into other xfers. Lots of Aggy posters making like of Congel leaving despite him playing in five games last year and being the 2nd C on the depth chart this spring. He was the starting C for the Maroon team in the spring game basically matched up vs. Daylon Mack all game.

all of which leads to this quote ::

Quote

There is a chance that incoming freshman Barton Clement could play center if needed as well.

This dude needs a RS year. Big time. If he's forced into action as the C? Holy. Shit.

Recruiting related because it's clear that they are going to be able to sell playing time to OL, who should all see that as a negative as all OL should RS, but kids are stupid.

Texas A&M received somewhat of a surprise walk-on in the class of 2017 when Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Robert Congel chose to be an Aggie. The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Congel did not have any FBS offers but he also seemingly did not have any ties to the Aggies either.  Congel is originally from Colorado, beginning his career at Cherry Creek High School outside of Denver. That was both the same high school in Colorado and the same Florida high school - which has become a very popular destination for top recruits - as 2017 Texas A&M four-star linebacker signee Santino Marchiol. The two decided to continue their careers together in Aggieland. While Marchiol redshirted after being injured in fall camp, Congel actually saw action as a true freshman in 2017. He served as a backup at guard and played in five games. He appeared in SEC contests vs. Arkansas, Mississippi State and South Carolina.

After working as the backup center for most of the spring, Congel has reportedly decided to transfer away from A&M, though. According to the Arizona Star, Congel will be reuniting with former A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone at Arizona.

Congel was a walk-on at A&M and, depending on how his release is stated and the NCAA ruling, he could be eligible to play immediately in Tucson. Even if not, he still has a redshirt year available and would have three seasons remaining to play.

A&M will likely stick with Erik McCoy as its starting center while Colten Prater has crosstrained there along with his guard position. There is a chance that incoming freshman Barton Clement could play center if needed as well. Congel is the second Texas A&M offensive lineman to transfer this offseason. Koda Martin, who started the majority of the games at left tackle a year ago, is headed to Syracuse as a graduate transfer. His father, Kirk Martin, is the new quarterback coach with the Orange while head coach Dino Babers is his father-in-law.

A&M had a couple other players transfer as well. Former starting cornerback Nick Harvey, who missed the 2017 season with an injury, is a graduate transfer and will play for South Carolina in his final season of eligibility this coming season. He will face the Aggies on Oct. 13 in Columbia.

Cornerback Kemah Siverand, a one-time four-star wide receiver out of Houston Cy Ridge, will be a graduate transfer as well. Siverand made the move to corner after two years on campus, the first spent redshirting. He will officially graduate at the end of the summer, in time to go through spring ball at his new school of choice. Though he has not committed anywhere yet, Siverand will take some official visits this summer. He still has two years of eligibility remaining and, as a graduate transfer, will be eligible immediately.

I played Center in college. It is fucking HARD and 99 out of 100 true freshmen simply aren’t ready for the mental and physical load. You just can’t fathom how much stronger and quicker college DTs are than HS DTs. IMO, the gap between HS and College at DT is probably more pronounced than any other except CB and LT.

TLDR: they are FUCKED if they have to play a freshman at center. The line will break down from the inside out and that is not a pretty scene.

Wasn't Clement a guard in high school? That's a LOT to learn - Shack certainly struggled with the tackle-to-center transition.

If he was then it will be even worse. Learning to recognize a defensive front and adjust to shifts and then make the proper protection calls at the college level requires a very bright player. It’s not something that is easy to just pick up during fall training.

Clemson game is going to be hilarious.  Epicly hilarious.

If they put him in, that kid is going to be on Roller skates and they are going to Double A blitz him to death.

It will look like this. Over and over and over

Note SF had a screen pass called, which is technically a great counter. Didn’t matter, A double A exposes inside mediocrity.

Texas flirted with Jimbo before hiring Strong, then didn’t consider Jimbo before hiring Herman. I wonder what the inside story is on that.

IIRC, Jimbo didn't pass a background check the first time around by KF

The reason why LSU hasn’t been the rivalry it should be is because they’ve kicked our asses til the cows came home since we’ve joined the SEC. You’ll see it return to the 90s rivalry when our program was at the highest of heights.

hahahah. highest of heights.

AHHH, the incredible 90s run that Aggy so loves to pontificate on… a 2-6 bowl record and 0 top 5 finishes. Oh, and it took mad violations and being on probation twice in that period, some bowl bans  - some TV bans — all to make that magic happen. Those truly were the salad days, Aggy.

I'm convinced the Marine has no clue what he's doing. McCoy is a very good player but should be at guard because he can't snap the ball to save his life. McCoy is probably their best OL and he's a liability because of his snapping ability.

The aggy OL is going to be a mess but if they suffer any injuries it's not even going to be a situation that can be managed.

Clement being thrown out there as a backup option is how bad their depth is.
