You guys keep saying he calls all the plays, but he doesn’t. He has definitely delegated at least some of the play calling. In the Arizona State game he was yelling into the headset that a particular red zone play was way too dangerous right there asking  what the hell they were doing calling it.

The “wild wild” is precisely this why there has been an exodus on the whole from the college ranks to the NFL the last few offseasons. In the NFL you get some semblance of an offseason whereas with how things are with the portal/NIL you are recruiting all year.

Recruiting but also maintaining the roster. That’s why CFB coaches are leaving, as it’s 365 for roster management.

Sir!

In the spirit of Abe Lemons, I’d like to buy a glass-bottomed car just to see the look on LotusHorn’s face as I ran him over.

Also, having never read this thread except for this last page, this looks like some sort of bum fight.

Sarkisian pretty much fucking hates the NFL, btw. Credit to him and Sexton working another raise though.

What head coaches have fled the college ranks to be a head coach in the NFL during the NIL era besides Harbaugh? Hardly a stampede.

Looking back on it, what the fuck was Dan Quinn thinking firing Sark? If they score on the last play from the Eagles 2 yard line, they probably win the Super Bowl in Sark's 1st year as OC. And then the offense actually improved in year 2..who the hell fires an OC with a top 10 offense?

Kyle Shanahan was the Falcons OC when they played in the Super Bowl.

They are constantly talking about it in the national media that the portal and 365 roster is something they don’t have to deal with in the NFL.

. . . and having little to no say in your roster makeup is not something they have to deal with in the college ranks.

I kinda figured this, and was dumbfounded by all the talking heads saying he wants to be in the NFL again. He got chewed up and spit out after 2 years in Atlanta, then went straight back to working for Saban.

Using logic, it would be a terrible move for Sark to go to the NFL. Glad we got this worked out and over with quickly.

It’s not that they’re going to the nfl they’re also leaving p4 jobs to take coordinator jobs at other p4 programs. Also g6 head coaches are going that same route

NFL players will bitch about playing time and touches too. Sark absolutely has guys that he tries to get the ball to, everyone else be damned. Seems like he’s got about 5 main ones each year.

And soon will be griping about making less money as a 4th rounder in the league than they made in school.  That will be hilarious.

Is jimmy sexton the only agent in all of college ball?  I’m sure he’s getting his new NIL/rev share division about to rev up.

Pretty sure that was a Ewers audible.

I hope they increased the buyout if he leaves voluntarily so Sexton can't keep holding UT hostage every year. These contracts are always insanely lopsided - pay basically everything to fire a guy but they can leave on their own for pennies

And the Falcons were 2 yards away from beating the Eagles in the Dvisional in 2017, Sarks 1st year. Eagles blew out the Vikings in the NFC CG and went on to win the SB

Atlanta offense was much better under Shanahan

It’s more on the assistant level.

Is Brandon Harris a bad person?

There's been multiple examples criticizing Sark losing Glasscock to Ole Miss and that Brandon Harris is a less competent GM.

Cross-posting recent ctj comments on Brandon Harris:

Harris is a laconic yes-man who’s constantly more reactive than proactive. He’s bailed out by a HC who is something of a control-freak when it comes to roster management and oversees in great detail that issue on behalf of Harris - when he has the time. He’s also regularly bailed out by the NIL machine, even as he’s talked shit about it unwittingly to people involved with it.

The latest experience with this guy was the program being flat-footed on transfer risk coming out of the Cotton Bowl. Everyone was left scrambling when over 30 guys came forward with demands  Unacceptable.

As SC alluded to, not everyone in the coach’s offices thinks he’s the cat’s meow as he’s frequently seen playing favorites.

Finally, Harris himself is allegedly a leak to OB and probably passed those thoughts on himself in order to ensure it’s part of the dialogue.

Since we're recapping...   Feb 2024

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian responded to last week’s departure of Director of Player Personnel Billy Glasscock to the Ole Miss Rebels as the General Manager for Lane Kiffin by making four promotions on his support staff, the school announced on Tuesday.

The headline is the promotion of Brandon Harris into the newly-created General Manager role. Considered a rising star in the industry, Harris was the Director of Recruiting for nearly three years after assuming the role shortly after Sarkisian arrived on the Forty Acres, making enough of an impact that Texas sent him on the recruiting trail following the departure of defensive line coach Bo Davis in January. Harris has been at Texas since 2019 after playing quarterback for LSU and North Carolina and received his previous promotion shortly before interviewing with the Los Angeles Rams for an assistant quarterbacks coach role.

So there's potential we let the led out ?

This probably belongs in the Dumb Question Amnesty thread, but do we have Red Zone scripts?

Probably next to the 2 pt conversion scripts. Sark overthought it and chose poorly. I’m upset that someone on offense didn’t say “hell naw we ain’t running that play pick a new one coach”TIMEOUT”coach give us a different call, ANY DIFFERENT CALL”. Wishful thinking I guess.

Hahahaha!

This is where we needed Quinn to channel a Major Applewhite attitude and say "Fuck the Toss Sweep, gonna fake the toss and go nekkid Right. Helm, go with me - if I pump, you block, otherwise you better fuckin' catch it..."

Second thought, that might be more Street than Applewhite.
