I want Lane to get a massive extension and raise. Set the bar.

I want them to make it impossible for OU to hire him.

You think Bob Stoops was a ruthless asshole? Kiffin at OU would be a complete fucking nightmare for Texas.

Kiffin wouldn’t leave Ole Miss for OU. LSU is a different matter. It’s a top 10 job and probably Top 5. No other open job is a Top 5 job.

If LSU is not going to give him a guaranteed contract that's significantly better than what Ole Miss is paying him, why would he take the job with more expectations and stress?

Only 1 man for the job of corralling the LSU Tigers. If he's still alive.

Okay, maybe 2.

Only if they can put him on the Magic Johnson HIV cocktail.

Because they’ll give him all of that.

Not to be an asshole but what kind of season were you expecting with mostly all new offensive starters including the most important positions on a team and also one of the youngest teams in the country. We’re 6-2 for gods sake. We’ve looked like shit sometimes and pretty good at other times like a young team. I’ve seen some senior teams look like shit all year and don’t have a 6-2 record to this point. I would think we were winless looking for a new coach if I didn’t watch the games and read this site.

A valid point.  But others have valid points that this kind of fall-off is unexpected and other teams of the caliber we consider ourselves to be or that we aspire to don't have this kind of fall-off.

Also, that our OL was good, but not good enough the past couple of years has been a lingering fact.  It hampered Ewers, the run game, and the red zone pretty dramatically the past couple of years.

Tiger King calls in most Saturday mornings to the John Clay Wolfe Show.  He’s in prison in Oklahoma where he recently got married.  To a dude.  In prison.

Yep and he has HIV. Glad it’s no longer a death sentence.

CDCs job is not tied to Sarks and he’s well entrenched in his position. He’s as much of a front man as he is a traditional AD and I think the $$$ guys like him and get along with him.

Right

Ultimately, CDC will hire coaches that the money likes. He's gotta do more legwork and "selling" to the BMDs on the non-revenue sports. Pleasing the money helps fund-raising, which is his main job anyway.

Lol. Do you gamble?

LSU is not getting Kiffin. Jesus, people! They will get an up and coming head coach from a lower tier program or a coordinator from a big name program. I am willing to bet the house on it.

Pretty naive to dismiss the possibility, especially the idea that LSU couldn’t afford him.

CDC “hired” Sark bc he was the AD, but he didn’t do that. We know it was Eltife and Hartzell.

Hiring and firing the head football coach is above the AD’s pay grade at Texas. CDC is responsible for the money for staff, the resources, etc., and it sure hasn’t felt like he’s ever told Sark no. It’s up to Sark to make the hard choices of where to allocate NIL, portal targets and staff changes

Do we even know or are just speculating that CDC can/does tell Sark how to handle offseason stuff, like staff changes, hiring an OC, etc?

It's a safe bet CDC doesn't meddle in the football program's operations much at all, besides budgeting.

It more works like this:

Sark- Hey money guys, sorry about that o line this season. I need the money to fix it.

$$$ guys- Have you fired Flood yet?

Sark- I’m not going to fire him.

$$$ guys- ok then no money

Sark- Ok, he’s fired

I mean, it's all speculation, but I think CDC is the first line of communication between other powers that be and Sarkisian.

As in "Steve, you have to admit this season was not up to expectations and particularly so on your side of the ball, your strength.  I can't protect you if you don't make some tangible changes. Let's talk about what went wrong and what you can do going forward   . . . . "

So the AD who was suspended for mishandling abuse claims was made interim AD, then made permanent AD, now is in limbo again because the president of an “educational” institution doesn’t understand big words. Given this and the governor complaining about coaching salaries, they must have every coach in America chomping at the bit to take this job 🤣
“I’ll remove the interim [title] and then we’ll assess the situation. I can’t make a very good decision after being on the job for eight hours,” Rousse said. “I don’t know what permanent means versus removing the interim tag.”

Has 2025 surpassed what Huey Long did in 1935 though in Louisiana? I know we are in that territory.

Best Huey Long story:

LSU getting ready for big Homecoming weekend. Kingfish notices circus coming to town, calls up Mr Ringling (or whichever circus it was), tells him "Hey, we having a Big Parade on Saturday, floats, Fightin' Tagger Band, and all. Folks gonna follow along to Tagger Stadium for the Game. We gonna need a couple of your taggers right out front, leadin' the way."

Mr Ringling says, "Well, our private train be comin' in from Houston, and we'll be there, all right. But we have a policy and we don't loan out our animals, no sir."

Huey says, "We'd really appreciate it if you could make an exception here."

Mr Ringling says "Senator, I wish we could help, but no can do. Sorrry."

Kingfish says "No problem, Mr Ringling... say, that train of yours, it's got the tents, the clowns, all the livestock, all the people, right?"

Mr Ringling says "Yessir, but our animals aren't livestock, properly speaking."

Kingfish says "Well, according to the laws of the State of Louisiana, live animals comin' into the state gotta be inspected for diseases and whatnot. Well, and they gotta be dipped for parasites and all. Gonna be a problem, dippin' them lions and taggers, not to mention elephants. You know, we could waive the livestock inspections if them taggers was gonna be in the parade..."

Mr Ringling says "What time does the parade start?"

I don't think Texas has that much leverage with Sark right now. Every current opening would hire him.

With all due respect, if Texas wins out and makes the playoffs.... Can you imagine Sarks ego?

Hypothetical, if you are Texas, with all you have to offer to a head coach, how hard do you try to keep Sark if he truly would be looking elsewhere?

I understand there is no guarantee his replacement will be successful,  the whole devil you know is better than the one you don't, but at which point for some of these jobs  does the school have to tell a coach good luck elsewhere.

You're going to drag this way off topic. There are plenty of Sark threads.

True, but I think much of these decisions about firing coaches to start the hiring process early are going to be wishful thinking.

I am curious if all these empty jobs results in some high school kids waiting to sign.

Texas would be fucking insane to not try and keep Sark. And I don't think LSU should have kept Kelly.

I agree there are a lot of other firings that make you scratch your head.
