Are you blocked from the Arch Manning thread? That one got ugly

Last time I visited that thread people were seriously arguing that Sark should be fired for not replacing Arch with Caldwell….

It’s a new year, and I still can’t determine if the Stupid in this thread matches or exceeds the Stupid in the “This is who Steve Sarkisian is” thread.

As someone who has contributed heavily to the shitshow, in one thread we are calling for the firing of a coach who is one year removed from winning two rounds in the CFP and making it to the semis for the second straight year. As if that is even an option. In this thread we downplay the accomplishments of the 3rd winningest QB to play here and all his accomplishments by saying things like "he held the team back", while also blaming him for every loss no matter what went on in the game.

It's too close to call.

I will confess that I was one who suggested that Manning might need a small break. His body language was off, he was missing open receivers, etc. Plus, Caldwell looked relatively sharp in spot duty.

That said, it was a foolish idea - and even more so with the benefit of hindsight. Arch needed to work through his issues ON the field; Sark cleaned up his playcalling; Stroh got benched; etc...

JB was so underrated maybe he’s “21 pts better “

Lol. In our lifetimes bro. Only Armybrat knows what was going on when they wore leather helmets. I don't think QBs records were legit when they weren't letting black people play but you do you.

As much as I really do like Quinn, I'm ok with him sitting behind the Hall of Famer

Miami defense failing miserably against New England.

QE is 5/6 in 1 drive.

Yeah, this is hard to watch. The Pats have 108 yards rushing and two TDs already in the 1st quarter.

Shoulda taken the points on their first drive.

Maybe they have no faith in their defense.

Horrible way to reward their first solid defensive effort.

How has that dickhead fumbled the ball twice in one half? Play with some pride (or for your job at least).

The commentators can STFU about him taking the sack instead of throwing it away. He had several defenders in his face.

Considering how shitty they're playing, they're just 1 score down. QE 9/11 with as many yards as Drake Maye with higher completion %.

Doing it in legit winter weather, too. Good sign.

Dolphins aren't a serious franchise if they bring back McDaniels as coach. He makes Jason Garrett look like Vince Lombardi. Quinn's career will go nowhere if he sticks around.

But they are the Dolphins, so it makes sense for them to do that if that's true.

Yeah... that was a terrible throw.

Trying to bite off more than he should. Rookie error. Just take the checkdown.

Yeah, watching their personnel, there isn't a name brand player out there. We are midway thru the 3rd and the Pats have 180 yards rushing. They are terrible.

seems like he's running backwards 10 yards every play to give himself some time , this line aint making it easy

edit - and he's sacked

Not a great drive from Quinn but I feel like his WRs are just awful.

I mean, yeah. All they had was Waddle and Hill and both are out. Achane is out too. Starting TE is out. Lol. Couple that with a bad defense and this is a for sure loss.

So the Dolphins are going to bring back McDaniels and Quinn will be the starter and they hope to accomplish what exactly?

How many draft picks will they have?

You get Waddle, Achane, and Hill back. Use your picks and free agency to shore up the line and get some help on D. You could get to 9 wins or so. But you ain't winning that division.

That's kind of my point. McDaniels needs to go tomorrow. His act is old there. What was once a young and upcoming coach, is now stale. They are behind Buffalo, NE currently. As long as Josh Allen is in Buffalo, the Dolphins in this form won't be as good. We will see how good Maye is going forward. no idea if he's a flash in the pan.

Miami will need to assess if their offensive talent you mentioned warrants going to find someone like a Darnold/Cousins who can tread water without having to tear it down. But nothing worse in the NFL than treading water with no real chance to win anything. Sort of what Dallas is doing this year. It's best to blow it up if that's the case. Not sure what the QB free agent market looks like or what the draft will hold for them.

I mean, they can tread water with Ewers. They got him on the cheap. Today was tough going against The 11-5 Pats when you have a depleted roster and no line. Last week against a lesser team he was out there doing his thing. They are probably looking at it like use Ewers to rebuild and assess. Again, you got him for peanuts, and he will likely get a little better and is already serviceable. Might as well see what you got after a strong offseason.

also, there defense doesn't match their offense. If you are going to have a quick game offense that takes 12 play drives to score, you sure as shit can't pair it with a defense that can't stop the run. It takes you forever to drive the field and then you come off the field and let the opponent grind down the clock with their run game leaving you with very little drives over the course of the game. The Pats ran for 243 tonite.

Would be great if Quinn could get a real coach and get the Drake Maye second year glow-up.

Doesn't seem especially likely they move on from McDaniels, but maybe new GM will demand it.

This is the key in the NFL and it's up to Ewers to take advantage. He is a cheap option who showed enough to let him be the starter while they rebuild for at least a season. If he proves to be a potential answer then he buys himself a second year before they look at QBs in the first round. If not then they draft one.

Agreed. Tua’s contract is the albatross and just cutting him doesn’t solve any problems.

Is Waddle injured AGAIN?

He's always injured again.

He dreamed of having an NFL career. He patiently waited for his shot. He now has his shot, and I believe he has proven himself worthy of a roster slot. Is he a franchise QB? Remains to be seen, so far no (but you can say that about all but a handful of rookie QBs and none from this draft). But if his dream was to be on a roster, I think at the very least he's shown himself to be a capable backup. If Miami really will make him QB1 next season that's fucking amazing and I'm so proud of and happy for him.

Sorry guys, that crazy interception was on me. I turned on the TV and the first thing I see is Quinn throwing directly to the opposing team in the end zone.
I promise not to watch any more Dolphins games this season.

Did he get benched toward the end or the game? Thought I saw another QB out there looking lost.
