90%of the blame goes to sark and his terrible play calling. Every time he calls that slow developing blind screen to the rb I scream. It’s either a negative play, tipped, or intercepeted(or both).  He has completely abandoned the run until the 4th quarter. He is utterly predictable as a play caller he believes his own fucking hype. He’s almost wore at times than Tom fucking Herman.

Really hard to know and I think that ship might have sailed. He would have needed some starts vs lesser defenses. The frustrating part of Quinn is it’s year 3 and you never know what you will get out of him. That is supposed to be the reason you start experience

Arch did pretty good when he was getting the reps and preparing as the starter. I believe he would be adequate. The offense would look different.

Bullshit. I am melting down. We lose Banks after this year. And our center that has been here for 6 years. And Helm. And Bond. And Jahdae. And Sorrell. And Collins and most importantly Golden is about to be drafted if he keeps it up. Our only hope is defense at this point. And PK will probably be poached. We have a team that can strike this year. But our qb is a thirsty pussy and his backup is better at the job. The answer is clear. But sark can’t do it bc he needs to be able to recruit.

#1 We all know Ewers doesn’t throw a great deep ball
#2 Ewers can make the short and medium throws ( think he needs to put more on some and not throw lazy passes
#3 Ewers is no a great ath. Doesn’t do well escaping pressure and no QB run game.
#4 Ewers knows the off and does a great job not throwing int’s.
#5 IMO OL is built for inside zone running but backs don’t fit the scheme. IMO that is why we get so many hiding calls , easier to see by the refs injuries have forced us to change
#5 OL has no played up to hype! No sure the why we struggle vs run and pass. Veteran group should be better
#6 Def has been amazing
#7 I would like to see a Arch package to force the def to work on QB run game and more deep stuff etc
Let’s fuck up Aggy

I’m gonna argue #4. Wasn’t this the first game he hasn’t had an int?

What the fuck does this mean?  Strike two, try for more clarity.

Benching Quinn Ewers would be really hard to explain to qb recruits given our record.

Perhaps our record makes it difficult to bench Ewers.  Or maybe (just maybe) our coach knows a shit ton more about what he can roll out with one guy vs the other, and he's making a judgment call.

Not really. Not if they watch games.  If anything it’ll show that the best players play.

Perhaps. 🤔  or perhaps coaches are fucking dumb.

Calm down buttercup. Sark will go raid the portal like he always has and we’ve got a Manning coming in at qb. We will be fine.

So who is the best player?

I don’t know.  I’m saying “if” sark makes the change it’ll obviously be because he thinks Arch is better.

Of course it will be.  We're losing multiple skill players along with some guys on the line, and the offense will be crafted more to Arch's strengths.

What is your angle?  You keep asking different variations of the same fucking question.

Lighten up. I've seen a lot of years where Texas had a championship caliber team yet didn't win one. It happens.

If you're tempted to lose perspective and melt down, Just imagine Charlie Strong and his merry pack of hapless coordinators trying to figure out which end of a football is up while truly bad QB play cements another ignominious Texas defeat. Man, we didn't even know how to execute the coin toss back then. Beating Arkansas 20 to 10 to go 9-1 while probably headed to the playoff looks pretty damn sweet by comparison.

Our quarterback is scared.  And he sails balls that shouldn’t be floated. He’s a great 7 v 7 qb. He doesn’t step into throws. We have a backup that isn’t scared of contact.

Who gives a shit about Charlie Strong teams? We have an incredible lineup of players and coaches right now.

Fair. Good point. But we shouldn’t take that for granted. We have him cooking now.

It went for a 50-yard TD last week against Florida.

We do have some good to great players. That doesn't make it our year by any stretch, even if Arch is QB. I've seen better Texas team's than this spit the bit. It happens.

Just enjoy having a good team that's nationally relevant.

No, because Sarkisian doesn't change his offense. It's the same offense he ran when he got here and he's had 4 QBs run it with varying degrees of success. The best athlete and QB with the best deep ball touch is going to run it next year and the offense is likely going to be more explosive. We also get back our IZ RB which will even make the deep ball better.

look at this list from before the season

I think all the players that are on that list that are not playing to their (perceived) potential are suffering from some of the same things Ewers is......the lack of consistency of the team overall

Texas still as a group on the OLine looks to lack consistency as a unit no matter how good each individual player is......I think Ewers still has not figured out which receivers are his 2nd or 3rd option that will be there consistently (some on him some on the overall lack of reps together)

I think a lot on this forum forget just how shitty Texas was for a long time and how much talent has come and gone (both wasted and that moved to the next level even if a bit early) while Texas is comparing themselves to programs that have been at a lot higher level and a lot more consistent for a lot longer......that are themselves declining because of consistency issues brought on by the portal and by coaching changes when coaches say "fuck all this NIL and portal shit I am retired"

I think last year Texas snuck up on some teams and was right there at the end......which lead to massive expectations this year while still having a lot of work to do and a lot of talent to replace.....Ewers and a number of other QBs n that list are suffering from those same issues and it is magnified at the QB position because they touch the ball every offensive play

This is a rambling mess of vomit that makes no sense.

Good QB, that's it. Any face painter who projects Ewers as more than that is a fool.

Very accurate on intermediate balls, good and quick release. Terrible pocket presence, fragile in it and seems to go down with a wisp of air all too often, very little mobility, atrocious on the deep ball. Being injury prone doesn't help.

Again, just a good D-1 QB.  That's it.

I did that this afternoon. I watched Texas win then met my lady friend for lunch and sex then more sex. Now I am home drinking beer and talking shit on Surly.

He literally gave Quinn multiple times to prove he could throw downfield in the first half. Quinn proves he can’t, running was definitely not totally abandoned but it was 2 yards with a 4-8 sprinkled in not like it was working great.  That’s back to the game plan, if you can throw downfield it opens up the run. Sark has to throw out part of the playbook because he can’t trust his qb to throw downfield.  Some of ya’ll that blame Sark’s play calling  don’t understand football very much obviously.  Watch a game where Quinn is hitting downfield passes actually and see the difference.

I’m curious how this will play out.  We will have won 17% of our games without Ewers.  The defense has been outstanding in every game thus far.  Other positions have had spotty play at times but also looked great at others.

His best games have been the first big game out of the shoot each year.  I can’t help but think the gameplan is a part in that.  He’s lauded for leading us a Big 12 championship and playoff appearance.   Yet he beat neither of our two most difficult Big 12 opponents.  OSU was certainly one of the weaker championship opponents recently.  We’ve struggled to put teams away in his tenure.  He hasn’t led a game winning drive late in the game as best I can recall.  I’m not even sure he’s won a game in which our opponent scored 30+ points.

Hes good enough to win it all..  our rosters good enough to win it all.  I’m not sure our rosters ever been better.

So when we win it all, will it be more Trent Dilfer or Patrick Mahomes?
