I’m no coach, but when I see a few guys wide open across the middle of the field, I’m gonna say the ball needs to be thrown. But I don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about since I’m not a coach.

If you were on the sidelines, those throws would be hit every time. We totally get it.

WE ARENT WINNING HARD ENOUGH!!

All kidding aside, we've seen what it takes to go deep into the post-season.  We all see the potential of this team and we do see the opportunities to play at a much higher level.  It's easy to point out a problem.  Much harder to fix it.

What I don't get is the same problems we saw over the last tow years are still happening.  That's what I don't understand.

The play that pissed me off the most Saturday was the throw down the sideline that was broken up. Quinn floated the pass in there instead of throwing it on a rope into a HUGE window. This should have been a big gain!

Yeah, that made me ragey.  Easily could have been picked off.  Got lucky, same with the fumble out of bounds.

After that fuckup we got good Quinn and went on to win the game. It wasn’t a clear cut ass whooping of Alabama as people would like to say. But much respect for Quinn and the team winning in Tuscaloosa.

Uh, we controlled the last 7 minutes of the clock and took a knee.  It was a clear cut ass whooping.

Quinn doesn't throw it on the rope. That's why timing and anticipation is crucial for his success.

Texas needs to be huge on the flare routes and when A&M starts sitting on those they need to attack the fuck out of York at LB. He's slow and their weakest defender in the pass game. Put him on skates and make him think where he just can't come down hill when we do run the ball.

I fully believe the first golden TD against Arky was as much about the TD as it was making the defense play the perimeter honest. that bodes well for Blue in space. I think that short perimeter passing game will be the key to Texas O playing well. And to do that, QE is going to have to hit some solid intermediate passes.

Frankly I think he's much better on the road in a big game than he is at home. I actually like this game at Kyle tbqh.

Oh, now they were SEVEN yards overthrown!

Learn how to count yards, dude.

In my opinion, mind you it's just my opinion, his deep downfield passes have not been the same since the oblique strain. He played better than Oklahoma than he has their last couple of games though. I don't know if it's a combination of over under throws or dropped balls. They just need to get their shit together we still have some games to win

There is so many open receivers every week on crosses that never get the ball....it's actually insane.

This is my point about throws over the middle. Throws “between the numbers” do not equal throws over the middle necessarily.

Look, the coach appears to be set on Quinn. So that's done.

Yeah, Quinn hasn't lived up to his hype. But he's not trash by any means.

Just hope for the best.

Hope in one hand and shit in the other, see which fills up first.

Quinn needs to either get right or get healthy, and get back to where he was vs. Michigan, or Sark needs to play Manning. Quinn just can't do it right now, none of know exactly what is going on but there's times when he's holding back the team and obviously not giving us the best chance to win.

Just throw away another year when we should be winning the National Championship? No thanks.

It’s unfortunate that Quinn has regressed considering the talent around him. Unless he suddenly flips the switch and sheds his ghosts, I don’t think this team is a playoff contender. Maybe if we had a better running game, but…

We all want to believe Arch can carry this team to victory if Quinn is benched, but his play against Georgia wasn’t exactly inspiring. Against a very talented and aggressive defense, he will likely look like the inexperienced QB he is and make some serious mistakes.

I think Sark recognizes this and believes from a game management standpoint, Quinn provides the best opportunity to win. After all, he’s seen far more of Arch’s play against a stout defense than we have.

Arch got two series against a UGA defense that was frothing at the mouth. He had the one "spark" play we'd had all half to that point. QE played much better in the second half but first half issues doomed us. I'm not sure Arch would've gotten us back to within a score like QE but ultimately that didn't matter and we lost anyways. I also think Arch isn't quite ready for prime time but I do think the upside is much higher for him with this team. I think if he'd been playing more regularly since Georgia, there's a very good chance he's a better QB for this team when it will matter the most.

Which is the maddening part...

I think there's a lot of contextual misunderstanding here because it's in text form with little imagery or context for frame of reference for people.

People are frustrated with Quinn because what they are seeing isn't a guy who hasn't or can't do the things it's that it's a guy who has done those things and not in a fluke way enough to know he can do them and then he just doesn't.

We all know Quinn can run some, we all know he can throw with his feet set, we know he can laser balls. We know he can throw lofty catch under balls, we know he can throw the post etc.

What we are seeing a guy who we know can do these things, simply not do them. It's beyond frustrating and it's not entertaining. As much as some if you want sport to be all about the result, it's very much entertainment and watching the Longhorns play right now is fucking frustrating, it just doesn't come with the bitter pill of defeat as well.

Its why games like Georgia implode engagement metrics across the board on all sites and platforms. Texas looked like shit, played like shit, didn't entertain anyone in the premier timeslot of one of the most anticipated games of the season and made it fucking meh. We had over 50 people watching at the tailgate and the game was so fucking lame and bad that the majority left and said fuck this I'll just go watch at home or do something else.

the week of UTSA was higher traffic for all properties I'm involved with than OU and beyond. The media can't even do their top ranked SEC darling stuff because Texas is fucking boring as shit. Texas is bad TV.

the defense making the game boring is a VERY good thing for us as fans, but the offense making the game feel stuck is what's turning people completely off. Without a marquis running back its easy to get bored of Quinn dinking and dunking and occasionally doing something great. Its why gunnar hurdling people is so fucking dope. Its not cuz he only gains an extra yard or 2, its because it's a huge human jumping over someone and making a play.

Save a few people no one thinks Quinn sucks. They just think Arch is more fun to watch and should grow now instead of next season.

Maybe that read option pull for the first down to win the game lights the fire and we see badass Quinn from here out.

I'm hoping that's the case

Which is crazy because this was his feet before he did that...all he had to do was step into his throw and it's a dime to a wide open receiver. Instead of does some weird feet chop thing and throws like pictured with all arm and floats it.

We were talking about it during that game. QE isn’t mobile but Texas screen game could dampen A&M’s ability.

I get selling out for the inside run game is dangerous when it isn’t a strength, but not having it is a major issue that impacts QE play and sark’s play calling independently of QE’s struggles. They all compound on one another.

and while arch is mobile I really don’t want him in third and long against that aggy front at Kyle field. That’s how freshmen lose games.

Or it's how legends are born. Manning defiantly has "it" and can rise to the moment there.

That thought has crossed my mind. I wonder if he's 100% or is he still nursing an injury. Maybe the finger issue from earlier in the season just isn't quite right and won't be until after the season is over. But then I think back to his deep balls in past seasons and they for the most part are moonshots that Worthy or somebody else would run under. Seem to recall him having more zip on the intermediate throws that he doesn't even try now.

I’m afraid it’s not Quinn regressing, it’s this is who he is like people have said. The difference is the defenses figuring out who he is (can’t run or throw deep). That is severely limiting what this offense can do.

I don’t think Arch is going to be some amazing standout qb this year but he will at least keep defenses honest which will help the running game a lot and Sarks ability to scheme guys open. He’ll also extend plays with his legs which is huge to keep drives alive.

If QE can get things going early, he finds him stride and he's usually good to go.  It's the slow starts that are problematic.

Talk to a 'bama fan, they'll tell you we kicked their ass.  (And then they'll say we didn't get late-season Milroe.)

Fans tend to focus on offense, and the 'bama game was just more dynamic (454/362 total yards versus 315/231 against Arkansas).  Furthermore, 'bama was a 7 point favorite whereas we were a 14 point favorite over Arkansas.  Both games ended with no attempt at a FG to make it a 13 point differential, which would have just about nailed the Vegas line on Saturday.

Texas fans really need to embrace the fact that this is an elite defensive team with a "good" offense, and wins are often going to look ugly.

Seems problematic. And a dream situation for a DC.

If Quinn was an opposing QB on our schedule, it feels like our defense would eat him alive. But that obviously isn't happening in practice.

Both qb's just need to move better in the pocket.  Step in and up.  Take a 3-4yd gain on the ground if it's there.  Keep the chains moving.  Payton and Brady were not mobile, but their footwork and ability to avoid the rush were legendary.

So do that.  Be like Payton and Tom and we'll all be good!  Pay me my $9.95.....

I want to be clear that I think Sark deserves a lot of criticism for this situation. He's been babying Quinn in front of reporters since he returned, how proud he is of how QE handles certain situations, etc. Maybe there's some tough love behind closed doors, but it doesn't look like it. Quinn is currently in a very fragile mental and physical state, and Sark's bending over backwards to protect him at all costs. Our offensive strategy at QB looks like what you do with a 3rd or 4th string walk-on with no backup options . Short passes, don't turn the ball over, rarely take shots, eat the ball instead of trying to make a play.  It's unsustainable to keep doing this shit.

I don't think Quinn can do off-schedule if he didn't run the predetermined route Quinn would fuck up the throw or just not know where to look.

IMO we are seeing Quinns glass completely full from a mental standpoint, whether that's stress, playbook, whatever he's maxed out mentally before he's maxed out his physical attributes.

This is where I am. The play has to go just like it did in practice for Quinn. No adjustments, no looking to a second or third receiver. It's like sark has to script for a robot.

Any GM taking Ewers before the 3rd round is making a monumental mistake based on this year's film. I watched the SNF game last night with Burrow and Herbert. They were making throws that Ewers couldn't dream of making at this point.

Going into Tuscaloosa and beating the Tide by 10 points is much, much more impressive than beating Arkansas by that in Fayetteville. Add in Arkansas' 124th-rated pass defense and it's even more befuddling. Losing Baxter was a huge, huge blow. That Texas is 9-1 and in the thick of the SEC title chase is pretty incredible. We've been better than expected in just about every area save one. I'll let you take a guess what I think that is. (Oh, our kickers could be better too.)

We didn't turn the ball over against Arkansas, and we were nursing a 13-7 lead in the fourth quarter.

Holy hell we scored 20 points with zero turnovers, and with being given two from the defense. Against a defense that isn't great.

I understand many of us have bad takes here and we should always "trust the corches" until they get fired (sometimes for their stubbornness). My personal hot take on Sark's decision making with regards to the two QBs is that he doesn't want to tank Quinn's career by benching him.

Quinn was the #1 QB in his recruiting class and flashed his talent several times over his career, so letting Quinn fail is not only bad for Quinn's career but also a big ding on Sark's resume. If Arch excelled in the two drives against UGA, Sark probably bites the bullet and goes with Arch for the rest of the season. But since Arch couldn't capitalize on his limited opportunity, Sark is going to ride with Quinn. Arch is not clearly better than Quinn at this juncture of his career, so the decisionto stick with Quinn is defensible and less controversial. He probably wants Quinn to succeed more badly than Thatguy.

I like how in a previous post about the Bama game you mentioned Ewers was lucky that his mistake fumbling the snap on the fourth down conversion didn’t cost them more. But you also failed to mention that 4 plays later we turned it over on downs and Bama scores to take the lead and huge momentum shift happens. Wonder what happened after that?

After the QB play we had between Colt and Quinn I sometimes don't understanding why it is so upsetting to see Quinn play poorly since we saw it for so long. Do I ever feel that Quinn can't get the ball there, not really. When he throws it deep am I ever wondering if it is going to be intercepted like with others? No, I just feel no one will get to it. I figured it out while re-watching the Arkansas game. When Quinn is on he is so damn good that anything less is incomprehensible and makes me upset.

I'm pretty sure at this point that we would be scoring more points with Arch. But there would also probably be more three and outs, and probably more turnovers.

I just dont understand this logic. Do we say that about other positions? Texas isnt the same program, so the standards have changed. I think that is a good thing. The crazy thing about Texas fans is a see a lot of people say the support Quinn and should be the QB the rest of the year, but he better get out after this year. It is some pretty twisted logic. Imagine saying that about Bijan, Brooks, Banks, etc

Another thought I had was that Sark was generally considered to be a nice guy. He is the kind of a coach who won't run up the score for style points, is very appreciative of people who helped him, doesn't fire coaches, etc. I just don't see him abandoning the QB who was instrumental in turning this program around. It is what it is at this point. I just hope Quinn balls out the rest of the season because he is not going anywhere.

Had you read the last sentence you would understand that the highest of standards has been set by Quinn himself and that is why I get upset.
