"I heard Julian Sayin would have committed to Texas were it not for Arch.  He wanted to come here so bad.

Finley's recruitment is not over. It is expected that the siren song to Austin and Texas' final offer will be enough to tip the scales in Texas' favor.

Kruel will be a Longhorn but will be made to understand that he's going to have to develop for a year or two but that Texas will pay him more for doing so for developing. Texas wants this just to spike the football in Oklahoma's face.

There is one currently committed Longhorn who is shaky not because he doesn't love Sark and wants to come here but is beginning to realize how big of a logjam Texas has at his position."

Did I do that right?

Where do I send my $9.95?

Interesting side note. Extensive research on men’s lives have shown that the 40’s is the second cockiest decade in a typical man’s life, behind the teens. It results from a high level of confidence built from success in relationships and career during their 20’s and 30’s.

The decade of the 50’s is when most men became more aware and philosophical about their life and the world around them. However, some men get stuck and fly through their 50’s not progressing, leading to higher levels of frustration, unhappiness, closed thinking,  and conflict in relationships.

We’ve got all types on Surly, I’m sure.

It's called Vanaprastha in the Vedic tradition, leaving behind the constant striving and going "into the woods" to get deeper.

There too you will find cheese and kolaches.

Ha. I don’t feel all that cocky. Life is just  a ceaseless string of waking up and trying not to fuck up, hopefully until I can get to retirement. Life is perpetually humbling.

I feel like misanthropy can be misinterpreted as cockiness. But just because a guy hates everyone doesn't mean he doesn't hate himself too.

Maybe every time Sydney lashes out, its a cry for help.

I’m not. I mean, I’m here, just not for him. I am here in hopes of watching him spiral further when it’s finally outed that he is the secret bastard love child of Ketch and Plonsky. So, maybe I am here for him?

Right now on this board, one of us reading and posting on here is the dumbest of all of us. Half of us are dumber than the rest of us. I feel pretty confident that I am not the dumbest. I feel pretty good about being above what we've all come to call the "BurntOrange&White Line" in which I'm above the 50% cutoff. The seas really get rockier from there. Some of you have truly dizzying intellects.

Gerry reviewing the 2022 class spoilered below. For those that get upset about the thread meandering, note that this is a guy who lives and breathes recruiting and all he's got to work with right now are class reviews. It's just dead.

Highlights:

-There are numerous guys who left that are now starting or fighting to start at other P4 programs. Bledsoe at MSU, Bryant at Vanderbilt, Finkley at KU (I think), Brenen Thompson at MSU, Murphy at Oregon State, Austin Jordan at TCU, Agbo at WVU and Swanson at ASU.

-Multiple other guys are at G5 and starting.

-Bottom line is that a lot of this class was recruited over, so the guys had to leave to get more snaps elsewhere. Excluding the OL, of course, which is the saving grace of this class.

Honestly a little rougher than I would've thought. There might only end up being 1 guy that's more than just a mid- or late-round dart throw for the NFL. Probably the last good chances are for Guilbeau to blow up this year, or Neto to have a very good next two years. I assume that Campbell is what he is at this point.

11 stayed / currently are at Texas. 17 transfers out.

I like everyone we kept. I even like some of the guys who left (Agbo, Finkley, Maalik), but I understand why they're not here anymore. But 17 still feels like a lot.

Sark and the staff were comparatively behind other programs in recruiting/evaluating the 2022 class even though it was their first full class. Other programs had been on these players for at least a year. Plus, this was the best recruiting class ever at A&M, so the recruiting landscape was in tilt with dollars being thrown around by Jimbo.

Counterpoint: This isn't the old world anymore. 17 seems like a ton in Old Recruiting and would likely kill a coaching regime, but in how the portal has worked the last couple years, it's not quite that bad, imo

He started one year (plus one game) and was injured during testing for the draft.  I wouldn’t be too sure of this assumption.

Agreed. There are several previous players who didn't really put it all together and fulfill their potential until their final season.

Some examples include Alfred Collins, Vernon Broughton, T'Vondre Sweat on defense. Christian Jones and Denzel Okafor come to mind from the OL as players that were frustrating to watch until their final seasons. Campbell has it to prove though.

A few years ago I reviewed fifteen years of Texas recruiting classes and the hit rate on them. From what I recall it was much lower than I ever would have thought. It really was shocking. So then I did it for OU. Same result. I concluded recruiting is a crapshoot with a bit of skill and hustle.
