None of us know shit about fuck regarding what the voters will actually do, yet some of yall are loudly proclaiming, without evidence or even critical thinking, absolutely who has the best chance of winning.

No one knows, nor does anyone have a choice as to who will be the Dem nominee. Sack up in November and vote against fascism. That is all that matters.

287 to 251 for Trump in that polling. Losing Pennsylvania loses it all for Biden.

I have several young, pretty disinterested potential voters in my family that have openly bitched about how we have two terrible choices for president. The sound very similar to a coworker of mine who's 20 year old told him after the debate he just couldn't vote for  Biden. Some people seem to be in complete denial that there's a pretty significant portion of the country that will just not show up to vote if Biden is rolled out.

To add to that, I know a bunch of Independent voters who tend to vote Republican more than Democrat, but I’ve noticed almost all of them are now openly complaining about the two choices. That’s a big deal for them to finally acknowledge Trump is a moron. If they had a reasonable alternative to Biden, just that change might be enough to get some of them to vote Democrat.

Among that group: a 75 year old gramma, 40 year old defense industry worker, and a CFO of a financial institution, three people who normally would lean right. They are up for grabs.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t talk about who we would prefer as the nominee. But proclaiming that Biden CANT win or Harris is the ONLY choice or Whitmer is the ONLY one that can win is fucking asinine. We need to quit dealing in absolutes. It’s silly.

I don’t disagree but for the first time in several elections I’m hearing A LOT of people asking for another alternative. 2020 and 2016 has some of that but not nearly as strongly as I’m hearing now. There is a real chance to pick up votes with a new candidate.

The Biden from 2020 isn't the Biden of 2024. He's deeply unpopular, even within his own party. Saying we have to stick with him to win, despite anyone with eyes seeing the obvious mental decline, is completely insane. Independent voters are loudly asking for any functioning adult to be the candidate.

I deal in reality. It is the absolutest of absolutes that Biden cannot defeat Trump. The Dems, as much as this has been telegraphed for years and yet they’ve still been caught with their pants down, cannot let him run and will not.

Are you a soothsayer?  And I mainly agree, but I won’t say it can’t happen. No one knows that and you are a silly person for pretending you know this.

Undecided voters and youth especially have been clamoring for any candidate to vote for that isn't 100 years old, and that was before Biden went full hospice patient at the debate.

I feel like the Dems are the FBI agents in Die Hard right now, and they are about to follow the playbook to their spectacular demise simply because it worked last time.

What's the best website to bet against Biden winning?

Might as well make some money? Or give it a week and wait for Dotard to do something dumb?

Only hope for Biden is Trump won't be quiet and says some racist shit again. Wish it didn't come to this.

The never Trumpers will vote for whomever the Democratic candidate is. Who exactly do we lose by having Biden step down? Undecided voters are much more likely to vote for Harris than Biden. I'm not sure how that's even a question.

I’ll never understand anyone that votes for Trump over Biden because the presidency is way too much for either of these old fucks, it’s all about the people they surround themselves with. 40 of 44 people that worked in trumps cabinet won’t endorse him? The dude is a fucking clown show car accident and no high caliber people will sign up to serve him.

if the dems don’t have a splash candidate, they need to stick with Biden and start talking up his cabinet and pointing at trumps.

50% of political twitter is not the problem. It's non-political snapchat, instagram and TikTok that is still laughing and/or appalled at Biden's debate performance is the problem. Don't make the mistake of thinking this is an obsession of the deeply engaged. This is very mainstream.

California has the easiest path and also the most clout for pushing the US to capitulate.

California should tell the rest of this country to kick rocks considering that without them a lot of the southern sisters of the poor states would lose a whole lot of federal funding.

California would split into two states if it left the Union. There's a lot of Trumpy people in that states, especially outside the big cities. You'd get into a Portland vs. the rest of the state of Oregon situation.

Other than PA, this is extremely….believable. And Nevada is always fool’s gold for the GOP anyhow.

Do not see a scenario where WI and Michigan are +3-5 Biden but PA is +7 Trump. That’s absurd. But otherwise, yeah

Trump continuing to be unable to improve upon 45-47% of the vote for the most part.

All I want is if Biden drops out sometime in the next two weeks for everyone on this board to coalesce behind the nominee. No matter who it is.

Somehow I don’t think that will happen.

Bullshit. The actual nominee? Whoever that is, everyone here will totally support that person against Dotard.

I mean, I'm assuming it won't be Barry Switzer.

Will we support him/her? Yes.
Will there still be a lot of bitching bc it’s not someone’s preferred candidate? Oh you better believe it.

Will the Russian and Chinese bot campaigns use that bitching to create a narrative of Dems in disarray?

"Dems in disarray" is right up there with "Trump lies" or "Trump is a horrible human being" in terms of being played out.  None of the aforementioned things should phase anyone at this point and won't move the needle no matter how many people/bots tweet it into the abyss.

I wonder what's going on in one of the normal timelines.

Hillary wins in 2016, nothing of significance is accomplished in Congress. Reelected in 2020 despite very meh approval/favorability because the Republicans run Ted Cruz. We have like five SCOTUS justices because the Republicans simply refuse to confirm for a Democratic president and have never relinquished control of either house of Congress. I don't know who Republicans are running right now but it isn't Ron DeSantis, who still flames out in the primaries, but they are favored because Democrats are carrying the blame for a more sluggish post-COVID recovery (and inflation still escalated in a similar but maybe slightly less extreme manner that this timeline). Gavin Newsom won a lackluster but still messy Democratic primary.

What sucks is we all did this math in 2020 (the actual one. Not today, joe).  We were like “maybe he'll just serve one term?” “I think that what he said.  Didn’t he say that?”

I don't recall him actually saying word for word he'd be a one term president, but there was definitely implication that he was a candidate to stabilize the situation and pass the baton.

I get this, but if Trump wins it's the 46% of the electorate that votes for him that deserves the blame.

This is a very weird poll. Gaining in GA, NC, WI, and MI, but a nosedive in PA does not make sense. Frankly at this moment gaining anywhere does not make sense, but especially the way it's laid out here.

I'm also assuming this does not account for third parties.

This is the main reason I'm not a full doomer yet. Trump's 2 for 2 in getting 46% of the electorate. Maybe he gets to 47% this year with lower turnout. We've seen that means an extremely tight election that can go either way so my baseline hasn't changed too much and probably wouldn't with a new nominee until either 1.) Trump starts polling consistently close to 50%, especially in battleground states; or 2.) The Democratic nominee opens up a major lead (feels impossible at this point, Dems really are a mess).

Trump is a favorite at this juncture. Democrats are at that stage in the game where, after fucking around with an inferior opponent for three quarters, they just gave said opponent a gift of a turnover and are staring up at a 10 point deficit on the scoreboard in the early 4th quarter. For the first time all game, the opponent's in game win prob spikes into 70%-80% territory.

Democrats are the better team, they can win. But they need to turn it around and fans in the stands are feeling that the momentum (sorry Tom) is starting to trend toward that not happening. Might need the opponent to help you out a bit with a blown coverage or bad turnover or something. I wouldn't really be surprised either way.

Longhorn great G Elliot saying the numbers match the vibes.  Bigger upside and downside for Harris.  Now Biden is at a disadvantage, but mild.  Trade that for an unknown?

Do it. Bank on undecideds or double haters or whatever saying “well, she’s not a criminal, and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have dementia and will be able to finish out a four year term.”

Hell, with her you can run Operation Let Trump Speak, just about hide her in Nixon's bowling alley and you've got a shot. Just make sure the public only hears "what can be, unburdened by what has been" a few times. And maybe get Sorkin to write her a half dozen new catch phrases.

If she becomes the nominee, what are the odds Drumpf throws out the n-word, maybe just once to test the waters?

If Harris is the nominee, you can expect a deluge of racist, sexist and misogynistic comments from MAGA land, and probably some from Trump himself. Hopefully, that would only drive more women and blacks to the polls to vote blue.
