Our country’s biggest problem is that most people think our issues are rooted around race, gender, or ideology, when it’s really about rich vs poor and urban vs rural.  I am sensitive to issues of gender and race inequality but I truly believe a lot of the bandwidth those topics get is really just a ploy by rich people to get poor people to focus on something other than how much they’re getting fucked over by rich people.

The rural vs urban thing is more logical.  Rural people don’t engage in society in the same way urban people, so it’s reasonable that they’d have very different views on how government should be run.  Liberals/Dems do a very poor job marketing their ideas to rural people; this is one area where I think Walz’s VP selection was great.

Urban/rural transcends every demographic group in politics and consumer retail.  As a 50 year old white man from a city, I have more in common with an urban 30 year old black woman than I do a 50 year old rural white man.  The woman and I have similar worldviews, backgrounds, and daily experiences.  I have almost nothing in common with the 50 year old man except maybe college football.

This is stupid fucking advice. Considering the post office is still a shit show and is expected to have issues, and the whole conspiracy aspect in no way disappears with the “going to bed red waking up blue” aspect because of how different states voting rules are laid out, the correct answer is: don’t vote by mail, vote in person early. Your “vote by mail now” actually exacerbates the problem.

Which is what I’m going to do. That way my vote is counted the second the polls close. There’s no post office ballot to get lost or misplaced.

Maybe don’t speak so definitely about stupid shit. Of course I realize who I’m talking to on the Internet, I’ve seen your posting for decades. But try, please.

Voting by mail or voting early in person accomplishes the exact same thing, avoiding logjams on election day.

Except one is prone to fuckery at the post office, and depending on the state in question, the mail-in votes won't start to be tallied until after the polls close, not before, and after electronic returns as well. Which is why we spent days and days counting various fucking states last election with counts and recounts.

All of which are factors I addressed in my first response to you, which as usual, you characteristically ingored while doggedly sticking to your initial stupid fucking opinion.

There was no evidence of mail in voting being tampered with in the previous elections. You can also track your mail in vote if you are that paranoid about the postal service

I vote in the very red-friendly area of S. Collin Co.; Farmersville to be specific.  There will be no logjams.

It’s infuriating that none of the rubes even question his nonsense about cutting energy bills in half in 12 months.

They’re too dumb to even wonder how it could be possible to cut energy prices to 1980s rates.

And it’s that way with every absurd claim he ever makes. It’s not even questioned.

But Kamala hasn't released a 1000 page thesis on each policy position!!!!

Virginia and Minnesota start early voting on Friday!

that's why this is the single greatest political cartoon i've ever seen.  it perfectly encapsulates how the rich are using poor white folks to make the rich even richer.  just get them to focus on the browns and blacks while the poor white guy's pocket is being picked by billionaires. it's the greatest con of my lifetime.  i mean, the rich have gotten these rubes to vote against their interests, and even believe in the Trickle Down theory, all by blaming immigrants and welfare queens.

Because roughly 1%-3% of mail goes missing. We mail hundred of items a week, a shitload of it never gets where it's going. Voting in person is much safer.

Anytime you see a candidate above 50%, fucking fuck yeah!  You'd rather be 51-45 than Hillary's 48-42.  Means you can easily have all the undecideds go against you and lose.

Very bigly good news that SCOWI re-approved drop boxes then.  Best part of voting in CO - ballot shows up at my mailbox, check off all my options and then I'd drop it in a drop box on my way to work.

Yeah, I mean that's what I do in Va. Get my mail in ballot and then drop it off. No fuss, no muss.

Again verify that your ballot made it, there are state tools to track your ballot, if it got lost then vote in person.

I never said vote and forget, vote verify and if you need to head out in person. The goal is to avoid logjams on election day, seeing long lines voting in urban centers depress the vote at much greater rates than 1-3% the obvious solution would have been to prevent Republican interference on closing voting centers but it is too late for that.

If you can vote early in person then it is preferable to the above.

Oh, I don't disagree.   But in the 24 hour news cycle, it gets lost.

Why would you do that when you can just drop it off? Other than to have a pointless internet argument obviously.

Plus that jackass that Trump appointed as Postmaster General is still in office because Biden can't remove him.

I honestly have no idea why the bickering over minutiae but it does not matter, dunk on me if you want, drop it off or vote in person now and claim you kicked my ass. I will agree.

Not sure why they didn't poll with RFK - he is on the ballot there

The Fabrizio one I posted earlier was Harris +3 with RFK included.  It's kind of polling malpractice not to include him where he is on the ballot?

Harris being at or above 50 is what to look out for. If she can consistently poll there then she should be in great shape. Keep in mind the polling errors the last two elections have been exclusively in determining Trump's support rather than his opponents.

It's also notoriously difficult to poll. However, the same rules apply - pretty accurate for the Democrat and difficult for determining Trump support.

Crossing those 50% marks are huge, It means in theory (GOTV and voter rolls increasing notwistanding) that convincing Stein voters is less vital. One of the goals to get RFK jr out is to make this a referendum. Trump has his nationwide 45% ceiling (on battleground states it is a 49% ceiling on average) and this is the final blow.

No, but Wisconsin is the most rightward-leaning of the three by partisan lean.

I completely forgot about that, and he's still on the Michigan ballot. I was wondering why Michigan wasn't the bluest of the three.

Counter point.  I did that exact same thing in 2020.  I checked the status on the local supervisor of elections website.  Guess what?   Our first ballots were never received/counted and I had to get replacements sent out.  The second ballots showed received the day after we dropped them off.  I don't know what went wrong with the first set, but this year I'm just going to vote in person @ during early voting.

TL/DR Vote, but if you do vote on an absentee ballot check your status
