I know nothing about this guy. But an Iowa team captain safety seems like a useful piece to go after.

Plus if our OL doesn't get straightened out he is already experienced in playing hard when the offense sucks.

At least with Stroh it’s a giant body they have to step over.

It's not just Stroh's body they have to step over. It's also the center and left tackle after his falling tree trunk of a body take out the entire left side of our line. Real impediment to the DL there.

Regarding Baker to OG consternation, Baker has signed his deal, loves Texas and believes that Guard is his future when he heads to the NFL. If Sprague comes to Texas, we can quit worrying about that causing Baker to bail. On top of that, he would apparently be part of their count as a new IOL starter.

After the Wyoming midget showed up smelling of cabbage with tiny hands, with no alternative solution in mind for another IOL, the push is being made to get Robertson to return.

Expect multiple Texas portal entries should all of these top targets actually sign with Texas at Edge, IOL, and CB. No one seems concerned about new exits at the other spots.

Even if we get those guys, we need more. 1 interior OL isn't gonna cut it, even if Baker moves inside.

I don't even understand our strategy with oline at all. Everything else is sound and fury.

See above. You may not like the strategy, but they at least think they've had one.

Feels like that may have been a hint connected to Brauny’s post about Bama.

I have to say, that would feel like a pretty strange allocation of their resources given the way their season ended and their needs. Who knows though, it’s silly season in cfb, I’m not going to be shocked by anything anymore.

I was referring to the lack of a plan if the Michigan OLs stay at Michigan.

Regarding Bama and Coleman, Bama is a poor. I don't take their pursuit of Coleman seriously, given what Texas and ATM are both offering.

Perich is expected to go to Ohio State. People are now using Tech as a means of driving up their ask to the places they want to go. Dude hasn't shown much interest in anyone who isn't willing to go over the top with an offer. He wants Caleb Downs money. While Caleb Downs is able to see the future and can play any role on defense better than anyone else other than DT, that's not Perich. That's not anyone else in CFB even recently, really. But with the visit to Tech, maybe that dude does wind up with Caleb Downs money from someone.

Too small for Texas, I know that much. He'll be too small for Texas when he's in the NFL as well.

I generally agree with the conventional wisdom that you can't tell anything from preseason and intrasquad scrimmages. But I'll be damned if that picture of Stroh about to fall on his face as one of our DTs swam around him in half a second from this fall(?) wasn't one of the most predictive images of an upcoming season I've ever seen.

Scouting college football and identifying the limited pool of players who enter the portal that fit what our coaches want. They should know exactly what the kids height and weight without spending limited first weekend time on someone who doesn't fit what the coach wants.

I've wondered exactly what Harris does. Babers commented on a video that he's basically an errand boy (my words not his) for Sark. Shipley agreed. That he's not making decisions but is instead doing the grunt work on players Sark and the coaching staff already want. That he's the messenger between Sark and the players on the team as well, to the point when a guy like Livingstone is getting cut out it's Harris that does the talking.

I don't think the OL that visited and deemed not a fit is a signal of a bad job. It's difficult to get an accurate feel for an individual until you meet them in person.

They are seemingly being very patient here on offense and it's freaking many people here out. Either that or they are striking out like a Surly poster in a club at 2 am. Only consensus is they absolutely have to get at least 2 and maybe 4 OL, a back, and a receiver. At minimum.

Why do I get a bad feeling when Flood and Harris get together to work on something without a Plan B? The two most incompetent people associated with Texas football should have triple levels of oversight on everything they do.

Maybe it will work out fine but Robertson and Baker at two of the three inside spots isn’t exactly what I had in mind for our restructured interior. And yeah yeah, my mom’s interior was restructured, I know.

I think it's looking pretty obvious the biggest mistake Sark has made since the weekend after Thanksgiving was not immediately firing Flood after the last game. It will be a miracle if this line under Flood in 2026 is substantially better than it was in 2025.

That's the most damning thing I've heard about Harris (and this obviously isn't the first time we've heard it). Being lazy or generally incompetent should not be tolerated in any position and especially not one like GM of course, but for that position specifically having the quality of always being 100% confident in obtaining your targets and therefore never developing sufficient contingency plans is actively damaging to the organization. And he's done it multiple years on multiple fronts.

People around here like to complain about Texas not spending money that it has and now we're seeing suggestions of doing something like this instead of just buying a prospect and his dad two round trip tickets from Laramie to Austin?

For fuck's sake, flying someone in to make sure of everything in person instead of trusting them from 900 miles away is exactly what you do if you have money to spend.

Goodness. I’m not saying don’t fly them in. I’m saying if such a simple thing to verify from afar is going to sink a deal, that can be verified first. That’s it. I just answered the original question of how it could be done.

I’m not so uninformed on in-person business meetings to suggest they shouldn’t occur.

People bagged on the guy's rating out of HS because it was elevated with him rated as an OT. His time at OT for ATM was Connor Stroh at Guard bad. As an OG, he had times where he looked really good. He also had some dogshit games this year. He graded out at 62.4 PFF this year, good enough for 304th out of 674 rated Guards. If he's taken any higher than the 6th round, I will point my finger and laugh.

This is one of the funniest photos I've ever seen and one of my favorites of this season. I think it is @Red Five who has it saved somewhere. Holy shit. Hahahahaha. The reactions at the time were awesome. "Uh, I hope that's not a frequent thing there." "Is the DT just flinging him aside? That can't be good." And then he's starting. Just outstanding.

No, @Vertigo is incorrect. Bobby predicted 10-2 with losses to OSU and Florida. Gerry said 11-1, but also said he could see anything from 9-3 to 11-1.

I would just like to add. Anyone predicting a loss to Florida before the season was operating under the assumption that the Gators finished strong and Billy had turned a corner. Correct outcome but flawed prognostication. Zero points awarded.

But the fact that the people who have fucking latched onto the "Going All In" turn of phrase like a fucking dog with a bone as somehow illustrative of the 995ers failing at their jobs, or being idiots, or as any kind of mockery of them is fucking bizarre to me. They're basically repeating what coaches and sources told them, and honestly, I fully believe the staff things they ARE all in on 2026, and have every intention of doing their best.

It's already been discussed to death, but I couldn't agree more. I like Bobby, Gerry, and the guys at OTF, but I don't take their word as gospel and they usually don't either. They hedge plenty, but people hear what they want to hear and ignore the rest. I also agree with @SydneyCarton rant - why are people so hung up on the semantics of whatever phrase people use? If they had used some phrase other than "going all in" would the complainers be happier? What exact language did you want? I have to assume that lot of the more vocal whiners on this thread have not been following Texas recruiting very long, or at least not recruiting from the portal, and don't realize how fluid things are.

OTF has earned their credibility, but the thing is still unpredictable. It is what it is, they can't change that. They're going to get things wrong, and you can't lose your fucking mind every time they do. Especially if them being "wrong" relates more to the words they used than actual facts.

I spoke with some of the 9.95ers personally about this. There was a mix-up: the 9.95ers havent been saying that Texas is "ALL IN", theyve been saying that Texas is "AWL IN". I looked it up, and it's an oblique reference to needlepoint and/or leather shoe repair. Pretty obscure stuff. Apparently Muschamp has intense passion for certain crafting hobbies and is forcing group-level participation. Flood is not happy, Milwee oddly enough is fully onboard.

Hope this clears it up for everyone and hopefully lowers the temperature in here.

Maybe a new OL coach wouldn't be so hung up on size to the detriment of if a guy can actually play the position.

Flood recruits line like he's going to just go out and gap scheme the shit out of everyone like it's1990s Nebraska, but then the season starts and Sark starts calling a lot of zone runs. And the large line gets run around in pass pro like traffic cones.

There's a massive disconnect and I don't understand why it wasn't addressed. I feel the line issues could have already been remedied in the portal if Sark actually had an OL coach who was going to adapt to what Sark does on offense.

Don't forget that Mosely, by the end of the year, had surpassed Moore and was WR1b to Wingo's 1a. So really we are hoping to either find a true #1 WR or get a true slot guy or a big body 50/50 guy and hope the your WR's force you to feel like you "wasted" that money as they make huge strides. If you can't get the true #1 in Coleman, there aren't a ton of options available to transform the WR room anyway.
