I’m on probably half a dozen different text threads with guys that talk about sports. In a normal year there are 30-50 texts during a big cowboys game. Tonight, literally 0.

Cowboys are dead to me and most of the people in my friends group. Congrats on your Forbes ranking!

Good:

OL in the first half.

IDL in the 2nd half.

Seeing Diggs back and they didn't really try him much so we'll have to see but he came out healthy.

Aubrey's FG kicking

Dak looked pretty much back.

Guyton flashed.

Bad:

OL in the 2nd half

IDL in the first half -- ouch.

Running game beyond 1 run in the 2nd half.

Eberfleus not spying Hurts on critical downs.

Aubrey's kickoffs.

Ugly:

CeeDee's hands.

Run defense - Yuck.

Pass Pro in 2nd half

Dak throwing an ambulance ball to Turd.

Terrence Steele - did you know he's the 2nd highest cap hit this year after Dak?  And still a shitty RT.

overrated sooner trash

How many reps and how much practice time did CeeDee get in pre-season? Pro tennis players have to play virtually every single day to keep their peak timing. Very winnable game, especially if Lamb catches the two passes he dropped.

Dak refuses to scramble. The RPO is off the table, I guess. When the chips were down, the play-calling fell flat. Dak always seems to come up short.

Dak is slow as fuck is why he doesn't scramble.  He'd struggle to beat his OL in a 40.  Seriously, on that play where he avoided the sack and 10 yard loss in the 1st half, it looked like he was running in mud.

Early in his career and at Mississippi State, he was never fast but he was way more mobile than this. Did all these injuries take that away from him? He's pretty much Peyton Manning back there now. In today's game, if your QB is a statue, that takes away an entire element many QBs today have, extending the play. Whether it be taking off or using that time to find an open guy. If you aren't mobile, like Brady or Peyton, you better be a surgical tactician. Dak is far from that.

Dak seems slower than ever now.

Some interesting inactives tonight.

Blue is a healthy scratch.  Going with Williams and Sanders tandem.  Just like last year, going with some veteran castoffs.

LOL!!!!! What a bust of pick.  And this is what you get from the Cowboys when they pick in the 20's more times than not under this administration.  Yuck.

This is why the "haul" from the Packers for Micah was so dismal. There is almost zero chance the two 1's coming back from GB will be anywhere better than #20. The Cowboys do fine in the 1st but once they get to the 20's, they mostly aren't very good any longer.

Tyler Smith #24 (homerun)

Mazi #26 (fail)

Guyton #29 (incomplete, but showed some signs last night)

you could insert 31 other teams and you’d have the same situation in the 20’s

Jason Garrett coached any mobility out of him because he was stuck in the fucking 90s. The injuries at this point probably makes it unwise even if he could get some speed back.

We need to stop drafting from Michigan.. Mazi, Taco Charlton, Schoonmaker....

The Packers are not a 100 percent lock to be a playoff team

They could miss the playoffs, but barring injury they aren't going to completely suck.  They'll be a high teen pick best case scenario without a QB injury

Start since Will McClay becomes the guy, not part of the committee and you get to add Taco Charlton to those 3.  He's the worst pick amongst them.  So basically....... 1 for 3 with an incomplete.  That ain't great, boys.

They're not.  Have to hope for some major injuries, really Love.  Their WR room is banged up so if Love and some secondary guys go down..... they may go 8-9 or 7-10.  Probably too good to be really bad.

You forgetting Travis Frederick at 31 the year before Taco.

Not really.  Zeke was the first round pick in 2016 and this was before Will was promoted to head guy of player personnel in 2017.  Will's had a voice in the draft process for over 2 decades but it wasn't really his definitive call until 2017.  2013 was Frederick and they demoted they guy who had the most voice in drafting him, Tom Ciskowski.

Nobody is 100 percent lock for the playoffs anymore. Teams have less critical depth these days, so all it takes is the wrong combination of injuries to derail anyone.

This Parsons guy for the Packers looked awesome. Why didn't the Cowboys want him?

Price. Durability.  Spending said money on the wrong roster capital.

Week 1 hasn't been the issue.

You Jerry dick riders are trying to come up with any justification for this organization's stupidity and put the blame on a player that wants to get paid while being the best pass rusher in the sport. So much you try to convince yourself they won't make the playoffs.

Then the Packers beat the shit out of last year's 15-2 division champs on opening day. Hilarious

What is it like to be so fucking stupid you continually dick ride the owner of an organization that does nothing but shit in your mouth and tell you it's chocolate?

Mediocre is the best bet probably.  Detroit is going to be hard to beat in that division if they have everyone healthy again.

Frederick wound up being a terrific player for the Cowboys and justified that high selection. The “miss” was that NOBODY was taking him there. The Cowboys could’ve gotten him at least one round later, maybe two. This is picking nits, of course. Better front offices would’ve gotten an extra pick to drop back 10-15 selections and still get Frederick.

The poster I responded to said both picks were guaranteed to be in the 20s. Nothing is guaranteed, especially in the NFL.

You made all that other stuff up I guess to justify coming on here and bragging about the Packers

You probably mean me. I said “almost zero” chance that those picks won’t come in the back third of the next two drafts. I didn’t say it was a lock, though. Injuries can quickly derail teams with playoff/championship aspirations. As things stand today, there doesn’t appear that there should be a whole lot of hopium expended on either those being any higher than 20 at best.

Frederick would not have lasted very far into the 2nd round despite what the media dicks say.  Of course the media folks say trade down, but you have to have a partner and you have to be confident another team won’t snag him.  He would have been a HoF player had he not gotten sick.  What a line that was with Zack and Tyron.

I’m not jumping Jerry’s leg because I was against him paying him the $40 mil that was offered.  He should have been traded for picks back before the draft.  You can’t pay three guys half the cap, especially when one is a basket case mentally before any truly big game, and a head case pass rusher who lacks the stamina for a 20 game season, has one playoff sack, and can’t defend the run.

this D can’t stop the run which is the primary requirement of championship defense in the nfl.  11 was part of that failure four four seasons. Scheme alone can’t stop the run but one can manufacture pressure, as Eberflus did in the second half.  Both Ben Johnson and Dan Campbell expressed more relief that Kenny Clark was gone than fear of parsons.

can’t judge trades until all the picks are made but if cowboys draft pro bowlers as they do better than anyone then they’ll get 3, and one of them should be packaged for picks at some point.

I believe in the end Jerry woke up, maybe from watching his doc, and made a bold move, making big cap space, having four ones in two years, and addressing a critical need.  Star edge rushers alone don’t make championship teams; the last was the Von miller broncos

Sturm had a great stat during the lead up to -- and immediately following -- Micah's trade. I think Bill Barnwell went back and ran the numbers. Over the last four years, the Cowboys' defense had the lowest Expected Points Allowed in the entire league when Micah was in the game. Conversely, the Cowboys were second-to-worst in the NFL over the time same time period when Micah wasn't in the game. (I say this with full belief that Parsons tended to be completely gassed by the end of every season.)

The Packers absolutely toyed with the Lions yesterday -- and Parsons only played like 30 snaps.
