I don’t think we will move up, could possibly move down this week.  Ole Miss, Indiana, Iowa State might all pass us.  FSU drops, UGA might drop below us, Pedo drops but stays in the top 7/8.  Who knows how far LSU drops.   2-3 ahead of us drop below us, 3-4 below us pass us, we are probably 10/11 tomorrow.
doesn’t mean shit at this point, we control everything in front of us.

I think this is absolutely silly. 4 teams ahead of us lose and we go down?

I could see us staying stagnant if they keep Georgia and Penn St above us.

but we shouldn’t drop.

All those teams losing the same week helps us, I bet we stay the top ranked 1 loss team around 6 or 7.

I think the same.

So you don’t think Indiana and Ole Miss pass us?  I wouldn’t be surprised to see ISU jump into the top 10 and who knows what they do with Bama.  We dropped a few spots for crushing a horrible team last week and our best data point is a quality loss?

Whatever, we will see tomorrow and then have 8 more games to prove something.

I think they should rank Texas lower. Go ahead and unrank us. Nothing to worry about. Down Texas year. Focus on the actual contenders.

I liked y'all when you were sticking it to Bama. Loved Deshaun in Houston until the rape scandal.

Something feels right about SMU/Clemson, too. But I also think y'all are kind of like Texas in the B12 where everyone hates you and thinks that you're their rival.

Maybe we can run into each other at a game before everything gets realigned again. I'll be honest I have no idea where you live or if you even go to Clemson games.

FSU will be the only team above us that will fall below us.

Indiana & Ole Miss should jump us.

Iowa State & TTech should jump us, but won’t.

So Texas should drop one spot.

Alabama could jump us, but likely won’t. They are the wildcard.

OSU, Miami, and Oregon will be a clear top three in the voting. After that it will be a muddled mess of undefeateds and one-loss teams separated by relatively little in terms of voting point totals.

Ole Miss will gain a lot of ground, probably to the top 5. Top one-loss teams will shake out something like Bama, Georgia, Penn state, Texas.

Doesn’t matter all that much right now with big games ahead for everyone. But I have a feeling the SEC standings as well as the CFP rankings are gonna be quite messy come the end of the season.

Penn State’s best data point is a home loss to a lower ranked opponent that they had 9 months in which to prepare. They have the shittiest resume of anyone even close to the top 10. If they aren’t severely punished for being the bitchmade piece of shit molester program that they are, the whole system should be abolished.

I think Ole Miss passes us, I think LSU, Penn State and Tennessee all drop about 5 spots so you have something that looks like.

1. Ohio State

2. Miami

3. Oregon

4. OU (beat Michigan and Auburn)

5. Ole Miss (beat Tenn)

6. A&M (beat Auburn, ND)

7. Texas (lost on the road to #1 team, beat nobody)

8. Georgia (lost to Bama at home, beat Tenn)

9. Penn State (lost to new number 2/3 at home, beat nobody)

10. LSU (lost to ole Miss, beat Clemson)

11. Indiana (beat Illinois last week, but I don’t think they get more movement for beating Iowa this week).

12. Tech

Agree - Still a lot of games to play so it will all work itself out.

PSU and Franklin are the pedo version of UGA under Richt.  The polls can’t help themselves ranking them highly year over year while watching them fold every time they play good opponents.

Michigan, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Penn State, A&M, OU, and ND are not as good as people think they are.

OSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Miami are as good as people think they are.

Texas and Tech are better than people think they are, right now (as compared to preseason, when Texas was number one).

One thing is for sure , SMU should not be ranked.

My model is so confused for sure.

One of the things leading to inconsistency, I believe, is the end of Covid era and HUGE turnover across the board.  The average P5 team only has 9 returning starters, normal is 13.

I am not complaining about 7 at all. Feel like we can’t really be higher based on our offense alone and schedule…

but I’ll be honest, I’m not sure a Penn St resume is any better and should have fallen behind

They lost at home. Yes it was OT and e Top 5 matchup. But Texas lost to the team that’s been #1 since our game on the road by 1 score.

yes our offense hasn’t been good but OSU hasn’t really struggled a whole game against anyone else.

in the end it doesn’t really matter and if we win the next two weeks we’ll probably move up anyways.

Yes it matters.

And it’s all bullshit. These rankings now fuel the arguments for multiple teams from same conferences come playoff time.

Georgia and Alabama both have 1 loss. If playoffs were today, Georgia would have a better seed.

Now, I understand that the playoffs don’t start today. And that the AP poll is not the CFPC. But the mindset is the same. And it bothers me to be told that philosophies and mindsets things will change come playoff time when it really matter and things will work themselves out. No! Philosophies shouldn’t change. That’s the mindset that drives me crazy.

Oh I don’t disagree in that context, and it is stupid to drop Georgia all the way from 3 to 10 while moving Bama way up from 17-11…when you could easily flip them. That’s kind of ridiculous honestly.

if they had dropped Georgia to 8 and bama up to 11 it would make more sense.

Yeah, Penn state being in front of us is a little weird but whatever its just message board talk at this point of the year.

It's just too disconnected at this point.  I do question situations like last week when we beat the brakes off Little Sister U but got passed by Idle.  That's nonsensical.

I could not disagree more. The rank prior to yesterday should not matter at all. Bama beat Georgia. Since their records are identical, we need no other data. I don’t need a poll to tell me who the better team is - I saw it with my own eyes.

And I see that the AP poll did get it right. My initial response was to the posted poll with UGA still at 10

What began as a fairly weak schedule for us is working out pretty well now with OU and A&M in the top ten, although Aggie will likely be unranked by November.

There's a decent chance they'll only have two losses by then.

Man, how far down the AP list do you have to go to find a team you're sure the Aggies would beat? They've got a punchers chance against some of those teams. I guess Oklahoma is about their level? This poll will look silly to us by season's end. I like the feeling that anything can happen.

I have no opinion about our ranking. Our greatest achievement is a close loss. I'm not an Aggie, so I won't hang my hat on that.

After seeing the SHSU stats and the reaction on the board to the improved Manning, I'm excited for the game this week. I wouldn't be had Arch not shown signs of life.

A&M @ LSU and @ Mizzou screams 1-2 losses by the time we play them.

I do find it fascinating that we have the "best" loss of all 1-loss teams yet we're not really getting credit for that.  Our wins just suck.  Again, it's too early, too much disconnect.

Texas is officially in prove it mode. Which I like, I feel Sark is best when people count and doubt him.

Once every 5-10 years they manage to lose less than 4 games, overreact and give all the moneys to the coach because they are certain everyone will poach him.

This is Elmo’s contract year to fleece the Aggies before the inevitable slide back to mediocrity and they stick a forklift in him.

OU, Ole Miss, Aggy are all not top 6 teams. But it will all sort itself out soon enough.

Not sure. They lost AT home and we lost AT tOSU. They also looked worst than we did. Oregon and Penn St didn't look all that great though.

Unranked? A&M has one of the softest SEC schedules. They’ll be top 15 coming into DKR.

We know how the A&M roller coaster works, but that really won’t be applicable this year. I see them losing at Missouri and maybe at LSU. That’s really it.
