Jellyfish right? For ol' spineless ou ...

Wait, horizontal mushroom cloud. We're gonna nuke 'em sideways!

No. Bent over shitting! Mateer is gonna have to change his drawers after this one!

Either way I like it. The ambiguity of true art.

TD to himself after being batted at the line.

O/U on a false start before this happens?

No, my expectations didn't dare set me up for anything in those days in the first place. I was too busy worrying about not losing to Kansas.

He must've skipped the "Comin' on Strong" tour to hear him speak after CFS was first hired.

I've just decided to get all my inside betting touts from AI. It's never wrong. No telling how rich I'm going to be. As an example, below is an excerpt from Google's AI Assistant when I asked why the line has moved back to UT -1.5: (You can't make this stuff up, folks--well, obviously AI can . . .)

The betting line for the Texas vs. Oklahoma game has shifted back to favor Texas, with Texas now listed as a 1-point favorite as of Saturday morning. This is a flip from earlier in the week when Oklahoma became a favorite due to the uncertainty surrounding the health of Texas quarterback John Mateer. As his status was upgraded to probable, the odds initially shifted in Oklahoma's favor before moving back to Texas.

Texas-OU still being discussed on the pregame shows, but clearly taking a backseat to other games, even the SEC Network.  When it is discussed, it’s heavy on the OU side and less on Texas.  Maybe this is the tackling fuel this Longhorn group needs

I got broken of caring too much about Texas football outcomes after a 50-7 home loss to Baylor in 1989. First time they had beat us at home since the Eisenhower Administration. Losing in the Rotten Bowl to Miami the next year after a storybook comeback season drove home the lesson that life isn’t fair and the good guys don’t always win.

We’ve sucked before and if we suck again, the world won’t end. At least we don’t have to go home to Oklahoma.

Yeah. I think. They knew Kent State wasn’t an issue so they floated this to be relevant in the news maybe get him some heisman hype if they win look at mateer the super hero mere days after surgery to repair a bone in throwing hand leads ou to victory.   I hope he gets smashed.  Even a good punch at the ball can connect

this. 5 stitches isn't "surgery".  it's all bullshit.

it's binary

either he didn't have a broken bone in his right hand and the whole thing was a ruse

or

they are risking the rest of the season to win and get him back in the heisman talk

it's one or the other

It's the latter.

And if he gets hurt worse today, it can be used against Venables in recruiting for years.

This is a bit ridiculous. Jared Goff had the same injury and surgery with the same surgeon and played 12 days later.

Mateer and OU have earned the Heisman hype.  But here’s OU remaining schedule after Texas: @ South Carolina, Ole Miss, @Tennessee, @ Alabama, Missouri, LSU……..yikes.  I feel confident in saying no matter what happens in The Cotton Bowl today, you can probably forget Mateer for The Heisman, and can maybe even cancel any playoffs reservations for The Sooners despite having shown quality.  Texas very likely isn’t a realistic playoff bet either, but I actually think their schedule at least presents a way.  Get the win in Cotton Bowl today and you have (2) winnable road conference games at Kentucky and Miss St.  Win those and the season becomes find a way to win at Vandy and beating A&M at home.  Do that, and even w/ a loss at Georgia, UT could find themselves where 3-loss Alabama found themselves end of last season.  Am I predicting playoffs?  Hell no, but I do recognize there is a way

There were multiple stories that said the injury was different. What’s the true story?

Jonathan Gray, Malcolm Brown, Trey Hopkins and the rest of that OLine ain't walking through the door.

Much less Blake Bell for them.

But fuck ou. Somehow we're going to win this.

I don’t know — I’m not exactly involved in those discussions. I do know that players with similar injuries and surgeries have returned quicker than Mateer several times, while others have taken much longer. I’d guess the variance in severity and the human body is to blame.

ESPN posted this stat: the RRS team that won the rushing battle won the last 7 and 18 of the last 20. Arch will have to carry the team on the ground to pull this off today.

Neither team can run worth a shit. This trend seems more important than most this year.

So in 3 weeks he had surgery.  Healed up and is ready for D 1 football at an elite level

sure Jan.

He doesn’t have to play at an elite level to win this game.
He just has to not be terrible.

While that’s true relative to the rest of CFB, OU’s line would need several more injuries to be as shitty at ours.

Don’t hold your breath, I can’t remember I big game where sark drove the field and scored.

first play of game is a zone read arch run for 3 yards.

First drive against blOU ended with Quinn throwing an interception, both last year and the year before.

So we can at least improve on that.
