I drank a lot of scotch last night, I've slept, and I still don't know how we won that game last night

I'm sober, I watched every play, and I've read most of Surly's thoughts on the topic, and I also don't know how we won that game, and I think I lost several IQ points.

I had to watch the game at a party on mute. What was the call on the 4th down incompletion that gave us the first down and started the epic comeback?

Late hit on Arch.  Monumentally stupid play.

Deandre Moore was held on his crosser, so I thought that was they were going to call.

This has devolved into a bit but I'm a big Caldwell fan. He seems like a baller. I think Texas can beat Vandy with him under center.

That doesn't make the TD he threw tonight better than anything Arch has done all season.

The pass Arch threw down the sideline to Livingstone tonight for the TD was a more impressive throw.

That throw was made 2-3 steps too late.  Arch will not make anticipation throws; he only cuts loose when he sees the guy actually open.

Caldwell's single throw against Florida (?) was thrown before the WR came out of his break, exactly how it has to be thrown.

Arch *may* have better measurables, but Caldwell has shown a more advanced grasp of the QB position as a whole.

I think we WILL beat Vandy with him under center for the whole game and I think people will be pleasantly surprised by how good he is.

That was not a great play by Arch, it was thrown late and brought the sideline into play. It's actually one of his biggest issues. The throw ended up being accurate but it should have been a much easier touchdown for a top flight QB. He should have been letting it go here:

image.png.1e139a350f5e0622d7b1b2e01fadc8d4.png

Instead of taking two more steps to make super duper sure that Livingstone was open.

Again, it was a good play but the throw came out too late. He showed no anticipation and that's perhaps his biggest issue.

Any TD pass is a great pass.  The one Manning dropped into the Mosley Bucket was perfection. Nitpicking to bolster your ego and show how right you are  makes you a miserable fuck and reinforces your fucktard level of bias.  Manning is going to be a legend.

Which reminds me, how the FUCK did the refs miss that blatantly tripping by D-lineman on that Arch run in red zone earlier? That was a huge no-call on a 3rd down play.

The underlined is a factor of maturity and though you may or may not realize it, a much harsher condemnation of Sark than Arch.

A QB who has had almost all of his development under 2 different HC and started 5 games for Troy. Let's investigate further shall we. Seems Gerald Parker was the OC for Troy before becoming HC last year and is widely considered one of the best college football offensive coordinators including his time at ND.

Odd, isn’t it. Makes one pontificate what Arch might have been this year if he had been coached by Parker rather than Sark for the last 3 years. In an interesting and similar note, Ewers early development wasn't with Sark either and the data and most opinions indicate/are Ewers regressed during his time at Texas. You know the QB at Texas lots of fans didn't like who is now in the NFL.

God some of these post-game comments are just insufferable sometimes. Yeah that was ugly and Arch for sure has his shortcomings but this team never quit and Caldwell would have never made that touchdown pass were it not for Arch's fourth quarter and his gutsy run to get the ball closer in overtime.

I'm not sure who told you Portland was a shithole but my wife's sister lives there and it's pretty much the same as it's always been. There is an uptick in homeless, but shit, there is an uptick in homeless here in Texas too.

Yeah, outside of the main cities Oregon gets weird. Ton of weirdo militias and such. Steer clear.

OK. So my buddy texted me back, but I don't remember this part because I assume I blocked it out because of sheer terror and peeing your pants as an adult isn't cool anymore. So he said those two dweebs were carrying some kind of rifles,  but they weren't wearing hunting gear, and I don't know if you wear hunting gear when hunting your own species. He said they also kept making whistling noises at night, which again I don't remember, thank God. He said they looked like serial killers, and from jogging my memory, that checks out.

Would I go back there? Absolutely. That place is beautifull. Am I going with more than 2 friends? You bet your ass. Am I staying the night again? Not a fucking chance in hell. I would rather cuddle with another mam in our underwear with boners (NTTAWWT) than stay there.

I just watched the play it seemed to me it wasn’t thrown late it was on a timing play no other read just toss it after setting his feet - HOWEVER - he lofted it up way too much making it late and it nearly was too far out of the end zone to boot.

Missed the game yesterday, watched the condensed version this morning.

Manning had a good game. But I never would have expected a kid from that family to not be a student of the game. His anticipation pre and post snap is severely lacking. I know kids are different these days but Arch needs to put in more work in the classroom. The athletic ability is there.

Wingo with two bad drops. Livingstone with 1.

RBs were decent with what they had to work with.

The OL is a bunch of backpedaling pussies that don’t like contact, except maybe DJ Campbell. I wouldn’t be opposed to 5 new starters next year.

The DL played well.

LBs were good

I knew Lebby’s offense would give our soft playing secondary trouble. Gilbeau at least has to start tackling better.

Niblett is a real threat. Sark needs to get him more plays that put him in space.

We're not a good football team but we show signs of being one at times like in the 4th quarter. We dug ourselves out of a tremendous hole and showed some mental fortitude when we could've folded easily. We may have to ugly our way to more wins given the OL, Arch's inconsistencies, and Sark's tendencies. To go 3-1 in that 4 away game stretch including beating OU isn't bad. It wasn't pretty but I'm not going to apologize for wins nor not enjoy when they happen. I like our chances against Vandy.

Ewers didn't regress. He was far superior to Arch as a passer. He just looked bad running those slow ass developing plays behind that line that frequently had protection busts. When he got to spread it out he was always cooking. Truthfully, we just can't execute Sark's shit. We haven't been able to since he has been here. Some guys were able to out-talent the mistakes here and there but Sark's playbook has largely been inconsistent. That's why I was so protective of Ewers last year and that's also why I haven't been on the pull Arch train this year.

I mean it kinda makes sense if you think about it. Mannings couldn't run but knew the game front to back. This Manning CAN run but doesn't know the game for shit. Bizarro Manning.

lulz.  dropped into the bucket, mosley bailed his ass out on that play.  shitty balls are completed in every game.  and yeah it’s still technically possible that manning becomes a legend but currently he is a legendary bust.  that isn’t up for debate.

Absolute ice in his veins. People can agree or disagree about the pass to Moseley, but from what I saw he put it so perfectly that only Moseley could get it. And man is Moseley growing on me. He has those Matthew Golden clutch hands. I am so glad we get him for another season.

Hopefully next season we get back -

(if their name doesn't appear then I couldn't care less, even though part of me feels kind of bad for Aaron Butler, but we can't be pussies and sometimes you just have to wave goodbye)

DeAndre Moore

Moseley

McCutcheon

Lockett

Ffrench

Livingstone is coming back

Wingo will be back and let's pray he learned to catch in the off-season. His drop rate is killing us. His multiple drops in the CFP semis makes me nauseous, and he had something like 5 yesterday with 185 yards. If he could catch, he would have had a 200+ day and a few TD's. He makes John Burt and Keontay Ingram look like Randy Moss and Bijan Robinson.

Michael Terry

And for TE's -

(if name doesn't appear, I don't care)

Nick Townsend

Jordan Washington

Emaree Winston (why they aren't playing this guy more is a mystery. Great hands. Line him out wide for all I care. Dude is a baller)

RB -

(you know the Drill)

CJ Baxter

Wisner

Simon (rising star)

Clark (I just can't seem to give up on this kid. He has this insane cutting ability and I want to see "it" click for him)

Rickey Stewart (with added muscle. I don't expect to see him actually play meaningful minutes for another 2 years)

Derek Cooper sticks with us

Yea the Mannings of all people aren’t gonna allow their kid to play if it isn’t the medically smart thing to do. If he got concussed and the medical crew confirm it he isn’t gonna play.

That's my thought process as well. I just can't see them allowing that, and tbh, even if they "cleared him", I still wonder if his parents would allow him to play or sit another week. Again, I want him out there because he's gaining valuable time and learning. Some good, a lot of bad, but everyone has to start somewhere. I just care more about his health than the game.

csb, but 4th and 18 against Kansas was the last time I was ever worried about whether VY would pull a miracle.

Watched every game after that completely serene, knowing Vince wouldn't let us lose.

His pump fake against Okie Lite for whatever reason stands out as one of the greatest fake-outs I've ever seen. It was so perfect when we were making the comeback after halftime. Just something about it was like Dave Chappelle's
