I'm old enough to remember thinking the same thing about Mack Brown.

Maybe he'll get lucky.

Vince Young isn't walking through that door, David. We're not in the Big 12 any more where you can pull a comeback against Oklahoma State. I know you love to play devil's advocate here but maybe take a second and look at the reality of this. He's a mediocre coach who can get us 7-9 wins and maybe he'll pull a rare 10 win season if things fall right. But he's not going to convert games against the better teams in the SEC. He has a ceiling. If you're fine with that then cool. I'm not but I get that unless he leaves the powers that be are fine with how things are.

Interesting point... all 3 losses this year after time off

  • Ohio State  (1st game)
  • Florida (after bye week)
  • Georgia (after bye week)

Cause Sark isnt a good coach. His assistants coach from the field instead of a booth where you can see everything that is going on.

This is bad. Try to laugh a little before playing frogger in traffic.

I like postgame threads. Not this one but in general.

I'm still getting mileage off the fumes from 2005, so my expectations are a little skewed. I'm also old, so this stuff doesn't mean nearly as much as it used to. My favorite part of Longhorn football these days, win or lose, is dorking out on surly.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Next year's schedule is harder and team will be much much worse. Like no talent outside of Colin Simmons

Buck up, little camper. That'll get you to where you want to be much sooner.

Yeah that was 20 years ago though. It was the greatest game we've ever seen but none of us thought we'd then sit through the worst period of constant mediocrity since the 70s-80s run.

Be honest, though, it wasn't completely unexpected.

We're Texas.

I would like to see Texas win a national championship before I die. I was still a minor when Texas won in 2005, and I just want to see them win one that I can appreciate as an adult.

Probably not happening. Best we can do is offer you the 05 doc on LHN to show you what winning the national championship is like.

Speaking of VY, if we're not going to win anything of importance we should just pay him $10M/yr to be our "head coach" as back pay. At least he will have earned it.

He'll get his once every 35 years championship. Fifteen to go!

Since we lost to Georgia again, I’ll say that sark is our mark richt. It took them a while to decide to ditch him and try again but they did it and it was the right move that also worked out with their choice of replacement.

we aren’t getting there with this coach.  Probably not remotely ready to give up on him though, and I’m sure the expectation is that next year we are good again with manning and others’ improvement this year. But I hope if we underperform next season again they think seriously about making a change.

maybe aggy doing something of substance this year would light a fire under the collective that funds and runs this thing.

You probably will, but it will be once. And when that time comes you better be there. I was at all three rose bowls.

Yes, my preference is he moves on to the NFL as he's not going to do much more as head coach here. But I doubt NFL teams are going to want him as his scheme is piss poor against good defenses.

Need Jerry to think stealing horns coach is gonna hurt us. But realistically we are big corp. Need yes men and if v get an innovator we will squeeze that out of him

We’re just not a very well coached team.

I'm not saying the Texas staff as currently constructed can't be better or get better results, but they're much closer to their ceiling than their floor. Who's the shining star we're in real danger of losing to another program? I doubt Flood, Banks or Orphy is fighting off suitors.

This team does need even more talent. We're not outrunning many folks and don't play as well in space — on offense or defense — as we need to. But along with more playmaking ability, we need much better development of key position groups and better staff prep for each game's biggest moments. In every sport, those moments determine how a team's season ends up.

you watch that and you realize you've forgotten what it was like coming into a big game and your thought wasn't 'I hope we win this," it was expected that we would

I was prepared to drop $1500 for my ticket in 2023 since the champ game was in Houston and I live here, so that would have been $1000+ saved in transportation + lodging right there. Wasn't meant to be.

Absolute dogshit in all three phases. I don't blame Arch at all. He is surrounded by morons who false start, hold, can't catch passes in their hands. He has a head coach who doesn't call run plays in the 2nd half. This was a fundamental failure and it keeps happening against teams like Georgia and Ohio State. Sark is a decent mid-tier coach but we're never going to convert games like this into wins outside of great individual efforts like Ewers against Alabama. He has a ceiling and we've seen it. Maybe we sneak into the playoffs but he's not going to win the SEC or win a championship. But we just have to ride it out now.

But, we did make Tech, OU and aggy fans happy happy tonight.

None of them are winning shit and the reality in the college game these days is that if you are not hoisting the trophy at the end nobody gives a shit.

Hell they barely care even if you do. NFL playoffs to get on to.

I got zero anxiety about aggy, OU or Tech winning 3 or 4 games against the best teams in the country.

How deflating to see us line up on D, so strong in the middle.. AND THEN GET EXPOSED ON THE EDGES.

What the fuck was happening there? Why did we go from a rotation the last couple of game to Spence and Umeozulu just getting steamrolled?

There is so much more to life than this shit, I recommend everyone get out there and love life. Hike, fish, laugh, boat, ski, travel, art, wine, fuck man Texas baseball, hang with friends, fuck your wife or let her fuck you, hang with your kids, ask them how they are doing, poker with friends, tennis, golf, pick up basketball, make candles, read a book, write a book, watch a movie, garden, go to a concert, take a cooking class, take up 3D printing really anything but this, because this is bullshit.

A game like this where the defense wore down was inevitably going to happen. It's simply unsustainable to consistently have to win by scores along the lines of 16-13.

The kids call it Belt to A$$.

Cannot be a head coach and coordinator for a side of the ball.  Too much is happening in the game.  Either you are not helping your side of the ball when they are off the field or you are not involved in the other two phases during the game.

watched his postgame press conference. the 14-10 score is a doing a lot of heavy lifting for Sark. according to him, we'd actually played well up until that point.

Actually I’m unwilling to tolerate mediocrity when the floor is mediocrity and the ceiling is championships. You can call that whatever the fuck you want.

yeah he started his postgame with Craig talking about how UGA was ready to punt before the officials stopped play to review the spot.

no ownership of his staff getting completely pantsed from that point forward after the refs signaled ready for play after the review.
