Okay, but how come other major programs, like OU and Notre Dame haven't turned their game experience into Hannah Montana and somehow, they manage to keep the seats full year after year? Could it be that true fans of all ages don't need to be entertained like they are watching Disney+?

I know lots of 20's Longhorn fans through my daughters and my interns, (no pics for you degenerate bastards) and I have yet to hear one of them ask for more mariachi music or more 'find the ball' games on the scoreboard.

OU doesn't have the money to do the shit we do, and when half the crowd is hopped up on meth you gotta keep a good eye on keeping them from getting overstimulated, which Venables offense compliments nicely.  I got no idea what Notre Dame does, but Jesus and shit.

I recently went to a Duke basketball game. It was a pure college sports experience. There wasn't a cacophony of promos, giveaways, sponsorships, shitty popular songs, etc. It was all about the students, the game, the school, the traditions, etc.

So I guess someone should inform them that they need to lower their experience to a cheap, generic, gimmicky shlock of marketing crap to attract the kids.

No offense but you picked college bball royalty the bluest of the bluebloods in college basketball to prove your point. They choose their bball players. They don’t need to sell anything or try and market their program. The best players will go there regardless. I bet their football games are gimmicky to try and recruit and sell to new fans if they can get it.

True, but I already mentioned that I experienced the same level of college greatness at a Purdue game. They're hardly top-tier, yet they haven't debased their game experience the way other schools including Texas have, where it's sell, sell, sell.

One of us needs money to convince athletes to play here. The other one doesn't.

Can y'all stop bitching about the music played at the game? Ethan Burke already said he liked it, and as far as I'm concerned, keep playing it if it makes Ethan play like that.

True. But after Patterson, people had complained about the game environment. Along came Bevo Boulevard, concerts, and a lot more in-game stuff. Can’t have it both ways.

I’m a football purist, but I am fine with our game atmosphere. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make to bring in excited younger fans. It was electric Friday night, and the team fed off of it. A lot.

Yeah I’m as old soul and like the traditional stuff as anyone, but how anyone could be in attendance Friday rooting for the burnt orange and complain about the atmosphere makes absolutely no sense to me.

I just re-watched on TV and it was great translated to the viewers. Way better than watching gesticulating milkmen being assclowns on TV.

Correlation doesnt equal causation. Here’s what lead to the rowdy atmosphere:

1) First home game against aggy in 15 years at night
2) Competitive teams with stakes in a competitive game
3) Bunching students together close to the field
4) Alcohol sales

Here’s what actually detracts:

1) Filler music piping in at 90-100 dbs. Its been louder the last few games. Last year and earlier this year it was fine.
2) Stripper DJs
3) Texas Fight chants lead by stripper dj

Some welcome distractions:

1) Drone show and nighttime pyro technics.
2) Hotties dressing to impress
3) Less Bob Cole

The gameday experience is not for the students. It’s for the tourists.

My observation is that the UT fanbase has significantly grown under Sark and CDC, that it seems there are far less road fans than I’ve ever seen.

Some of this is SEC vs Big12:

- further distances to travel,

- Competing road trips for opponents' fans,

- and less visiting team alums/fans that live local

In regards to Aggy at DKR, i feel like we got Aggy lite.

i was prepared to be super annoyed by them; but they were much fewer, less vocal, less obnoxious, and downright sedate.

(which is really weird, since they came into the game 11-0)

I want to start by saying I love watching these videos and the production value is top notch. The people in the Texas media department do a fantastic job. I use these clips to make my own edits when fucking around with offseason hype videos.

But these mini-movies are starting to get a little stale IMO. The same dramatic movie score, the editing/cuts are way too manic, the overall structure is the same with every release. Would like to see them get a bit more creative. With the amount of filming access they have, there's plenty of room for improvement.

All of that has actually killed pregame activity/tailgating along with building where tailgate historically was and then making revelxp the only on campus option even if you show up early yourself.

Florida tailgating was far and away better than Texas when we traveled there. I would also say Michigan tailgating is far superior and I go to those games often.

Having an empty wine garden on bevo blvd or a half empty UT club walled off tent is fucking lame.

Texas Exes tailgate is also fucking terrible, and is for the social crowd not for the people who want to tailgate, watch football and talk about it crowd.

Bevo BLVD itself is pretty cool, but it's also stale. The same rides, the same games, the same shit every time and the entertainment at LCL has gone WAY downhill from peak LSU etc.

They are phoning it in and over commercializing it. It's part of what the majority of complaints are and why there was even a niche/gap in the market for our tailgate. A purists tailgate for everyone else.

Hornballs does a good job for generic,  but theirs was 115 a head. Had shittier food and is way further away.

I don’t disagree. But the corporate tailgating bullshit and renting spaces killed tailgating before Bevo Blvd. Maybe not dead-dead, but it was ready done for.

Yeah the atmosphere in the stadium (especially the student section) is a huge improvement. The music ain’t my cup of tea but if it results in a rowdy crowd I’m all for it. The tailgate scene dying off is sad, though being in a growing campus in a growing city, that real estate always had a limited shelf life, looking back on it.

Long live the 5AM queue-up along Red River for the Pink lot!

But the music isnt the reason for the rowdy crowd as we see at the OU game and other games. We also have a sauced crowd and students finally in one section close to the field that watches a team thats good.

The music needs to be 7-9 depending on the situation. Whens it’s 11, it sucks the oxygen out of the stadium when it’s not blaring. It’s a crutch.
