You started this little interaction by quoting me and I didn’t @ you or even mention your name. Greenspoint said something similar to what you said so my shot was at people who like drama…in general. I didn’t say shit to you pointedly lol. Then after you @ me I was just trying to point out why people respond to you the way they do. I have no idea why I do this to myself tho. It isn’t worth the laughs. Lol

Let’s just hug and move on man. 🤗 now let’s win the fucking season and get the number one seed. I wonder who will pick up PK. Many good teams need a great DC and PK is a great DC. And we will likely have to contend  with him in the playoffs if all goes well this next season.

It could also be sulfur-hexafluoride, or just the plain old chloroform way.  Lulz.

One thing I will say, I'm looking forward to seeing how Muschamp will scheme to use Collin Simmons.  Anyone remember Sergio Kindle's junior year?

That scheme with Kindle going around the tackle for a sack is SICK. Definitely hope to see more of that.

Sark fell asleep at the wheel. I thought it was obvious he couldnt believe what he was seeing the first half of the season. He doesnt get another one of those and I think thats what this about. He wants Muschamp to bring some juice. He's trying to raise the bar to beat Georgia.

Looked like a Zone Blitz / Fire Blitz... Which I don't recall seeing a lot of under PK.

So, actually, you do hope to see more of it, and I think you will.

I think PKs philosophy is more about covering than pressuring.

"Don't get beat"

But that means a mobile QB (which is all of them) can move around enough to create time, which creates space.

It's why 3rd and PK exists. It's why we say the front and the back didn't match. The back played off and the front didn't bring extra bodies, but simulated pressure with 2 DL. Show 5 and bring two. Why? QBs can see and adjust to even if the OL doesn't see it right away. Too much time.

Muschamp is going to bring pressure and trust the back to cover for a short period. Watch... Our DBs are going to look like they can cover again on 3rd down. Crossers will win from time to time, but will also turn into pics more often.

guy got a lot of shit, but he turned around a disastrous defense to a good to near great defense without any scandals and seemed to be an all round great dude

PK turned in an average season that got wobbly at the end, with the defense really struggling with Taafe out.  Taafe is now graduating.

Muschamp has a higher ceiling but if he doesn’t haven’t it anymore, the floor is probably lower than PK’s. Recruiting probably gets boosted. I don’t mind moving on.

Been traveling all day, so just saw this. I remember meeting @blacklab back in 08, or was it 09, to pick up my Shaggy Boom Motherfucker shirt. No idea what happened to it, but I wore it less and less the longer WM was around.

It's literally a base four-man rush where Kindle just beats the tackle. Here's the play:

Y'all are talking shit on _iaz but I will NEVER forgive PK for calling a 2-DL "Nascar" package on 4th and short against Ohio State with a mobile QB.  That's that bullshit Manny was doing here a decade ago. At least I know Muschamp will unleash hell instead of pretty package shit.

Yea what does pk know about shutting down tosu

Posted
Well.... in reality we'll complete two 20 yard passes for two first downs and then run the ball 3 times in a row for -4 yards and punt. It's the Sark way.

Yeah but on 3rd and short, he’d have the corners playing 10 yards off and bailing at the snap.

I was there in the endzone behind the QB. That was a MASSIVE hit.

I was sitting almost dead even on this hit. Westbrooks was a human missile, and he had others like this like the one he put on McElroy in Collie the year before.

Pound for pound nobody hit harder than he did.

The important thing is that Randy Kinder can find a place to lay down. Keith Jackson was the best in his heyday.

Did the ND QB hate his running back?  That late pitch was criminal.

I still remember those defenses getting gashed down the middle time and time again, most likely because of his 1 gap scheme.

Muschamp is high risk high reward defense. It's not good when the downside is being unable to stop the above.

Pk is a good dude and he will land on his feet.  That said just because he fielded good defenses with great talent doesn’t mean Texas can’t upgrade with a different DC.  If Muschamp was Sark’s preferred choice from the beginning than I give him credit for making the move now that he is available.  Timing is everything and it isn’t personal it’s just bidness.  I think Sark saw that the bend don’t break defense was keeping the defense on the field way too long and taking offensive possession away.  We can argue that Sark needs to do better either way but I don’t begrudge him for making this move.  I think he realizes that UT needs to be more aggressive on defense and hopefully he also realizes he needs to step up his side of the ball.  I think Sark had a come to Jesus this season and realizes it’s time to make this happen now.  NO more building for the future mindset.  We will see but if I’m Sark and I think any portion of my team can improve I am proactively and unabashedly pursuing that option.  If he keeps Flood and things don’t go well he will know he chose poorly.  In some ways I think that POS Kirby did us a favor by calling out Sark’s manhood.

Also Sark now knows his only real path to the NFL is a national championship and my prediction is that is a real possibility.  That’s the good news.  The bad news is that will probably result in Maschamp being the next head coach.

Yes, but also notice the CBs 7 yards back and dropping at the snap.

Did Greenpoint really say PK wasn't fired because Sark was looking for better.

Um, I'm not sure I'm following the logic here. Did he fire him so he could get exponentially worse on that side of the ball? If that's the case then just promote Akina to DC. Boom! He's a Titan now!

Other than those two, why else would the first/second most important job is to make your unit not suck get fired? PK did a fantastic job, but he has a Kirby/Day problem, and frankly, I think Sark is fucking sick of it, too. He needed to bring in someone who has been around, and what do you know, Will Mischamp was in town. I make that trade 10/10 times on conference alone since Mischamp literally knows the entire league front to back, and he's worked with Georgia from 2021-2025. You want to beat Kirby? You bring in a defensive mastermind that's coached there and he made our Texas defenses physical and punishing when he coached here, and he has a hell of a lot more talent now than then. He can get whomever he wants if the money is approved. He's a recruiter (PK wss not), he shows emotion and passion, whether that's being pissed off, or slightly less than pissed off (I think that's the only way he understands happiness). His enthusiasm will make its way to the players and they'll all go out and Kindle someone.

Regardless, I would be happy with either, but I trust Muschamp more since he's been a constant in that league since 2011. PK was said to want to go back to the PNW for whatever ungodly reason. He had it made here, but money isn't everything. Mental health and happiness are.

This feels two ways:

1. Sark was told that if he doesn't fix shit ASAP, he should start getting his resume together.

2. Sark himself is tired of this shit, and when you can upgrade, do it every time. Akina had to go, but I'm surprised about PK. I read he wanted to go back to the PNW, and that's cool., but why not just put in your resignation and leave rather than be fired? Akina had to fucking go. Good riddance.

I like Mischamp a lot, and he has produced some of the best and most physical defenses we've had in a long, long time (Sergio meet Taylor Potts). We had a lot of talent then too, just like now. I'm really surprised he came out of retirement, but it's Texas and he's had a house here since..,.almost 20 years, and he and his wife vacation here. He's been on campus a few times to converse with Sark. There's a video somewhere on YouTube with Muschamp talking to Baxter, Sweat, Murphy, Barron, and some other guys before heading to take on Washington in the CFP 2 years ago. I'm totally happy with the hire.

Just the next phase of the meltdown IMO.

I am absolutely here for it on coach BOOM, however I don't expect much from sark except for him to fuck it all up.

He does not have a Day problem. He shut Days offense down twice.

kirby part is debatable

For those of you who don't read player scouting reports, take note of the pictures provided here - I've never seen a big human with as much 'bend' as Sergio.  Combined with his single minded aggressiveness (which was honed under Boom) to punish ball carriers he was unstoppable.  Who's going to reap the benefits of WM being back?

This guy:

gettyimages-2193323106.jpg

I, for one, cannot WAIT to see Colin destroy mother fuckers under new management.

PK was great, he rebuilt the foundations of our defense.  I thank him and genuinely wish him well, I'd happily buy him a beer if I ever had the chance.

Boom is the future - I believe he'll take the foundations the PK left and raise the ceiling to championship standards.

Only time will tell.

Have we already reached the ‘Muschamp wasn’t good his first time at Texas’ part of the thread? Y’all speed running this shit.

I was poking fun at the people grasping at straws to rationalize that PK wasn't good during his time here.

Muschamp was good, PK was good.  I expect the defense will change more due to personnel overturn than coaching.  But I do expect a more complex defense with more aggression.

If Sark fired PK just because he thought he MIGHT do better, then Sark is a moron. You dont fire a borderline top 8 DC to replace him with a retread. This firing may be the biggest risk is Texas football history if it realky happened that way

Hence the only thing that makes sense is that PK and Sark didnt get along (which is what ive been hearing for months and months) and PK basically dared Sark to fire him. Muschamp just happened to be available

bottom line: if this hire fails in a year or two, Sark is done at Texas

The Day "problem" is obviously just unfortunate circumstance. We should have beaten them by every metric, but we blew it because of anything that could go wrong went wrong, except on defense. Which is why I'm confused about firing PK instead of letting him leave without making a show of it. Unless he just absolutely went off on Sark or CDC, I'm baffled. I'm happy with the Muschamp hire since it will resonate with a lot more athletes.
