Yeah I don’t know how much attrition Indiana had last year. But I am curious (outside of those going pro) how many they might lose this year to the portal. I know they got all their targets so far like a sniper so they will be ready and they did all this while prepping to play Oregon. Sark would be like “can someone else fucking handle this shit I have to call plays!!!!!” And that’s the main issue he’s had from day one. A strength and an Achilles heel. And it is both rewarding to see it work and frustrating as hell when it falls apart like it did in 2025. I try to imagine Bijan with Cig or Worthy or Ewers with an oline that could block. I haz the sad now. 😭

Cignetti is currently "getting by" with a goodly number of JMU transfers and native IU recruits. He's certainly done well with some targeted acquisitions like Coogan.

What's going to be interesting is when he continues to target certain 3 and 4 stars that are instantly going to become high 4s and 5s when recruited by IU. And then their interest list broadens. And they start to think highly of themselves, and so do their agents.

It's gonna be a lot harder to keep those guys around than a bunch of dudes that signed with IU and JMU from 2021-2023. Development efforts are going to go to waste, culture will deteriorate, etc.

I think Cignetti may understand this and that's why he took the IU job rather than some higher-profile job and has stayed low-profile most of his career.

True he wouldn’t have been hired bc of our BMDs. But if he had been hired we’d be crushing it.

Oregon is hurrying things up a bit.

Announcers are begging for some human interest as Cig glares at the screen like he wants us all dead for having to google him. Oregon could actually make this interesting if they can score here bc they do the air raid fairly well.

Not enough clock unless they turn in to the '99 Rams.

Who were the Texans playing when the Rosencopter 21 points in under 5 mins thing happened? Cuz that could happen I guess here. A complete meltdown.

My youngest did this to me during the early days of Covid when people here were washing their hands to pick their nose. I was pretty sure I caught the Corona at the time.

It would definitely be the best GT team ever.

Like I said, he could very well continue to whip ass.

But he's in a pretty different environment now and it is changing even as we speak.

Curt Cignetti is officially big-time now. And it's only going to get bigger-time with an NC.

Is this the best college football team ever?

Look at their scores in league play.
Butt fucked their way through the conference. 16-0 should get them that. If only their name wasn't Indiana.

Terrible "Vegas pitch" call by Ducks on 4th and short.

Oregon just getting totally outcoached...

He only got hired by one of the worst teams in football. It wasn’t our BMDs fault

no. look, the dilution of talent works both ways. yes, it makes it easier for this story to happen, but what happens at the top is that those past top teams might never be replicated talent wise, and at that level, you also had to beat a team of incredible talent.

I don't think this Indiana would hang with VY Texas, or that Miami team, or Burrow's LSU etc.

@TwiceHorn aint exactly wrong as this shit has infected the entire P4 universe and some far worse than others. I still maintain if you have a culture that is about a process and coaching kids up you won’t lose as many to the portal and the ones you do are less interested in being the best coached up position player that they can be. And you go find another 3 star or whatever with the right fit for the team and coach their ass up.

Mendoza said they added 20 pounds too him since last year. To absorb more hits and make him as pro ready as possible.

10 Indiana players in the 2 deep are on their 6th year (COVID). That extra year was always bullshit.

That was Payton. That game almost as good as the Bills Comeback.

Damn. Ok Debbie downer.

I don’t agree because in worst case he can always find lots of 3 star guys willing to do anything to earn a scholarship. Add in the fact he is winning now and he will be selecting, not begging recruits.

those who dont read history, ask such questions. I see your 2025 IU and raise you the 2005 horns. that D would put Mendoza and his WRs in a hospice.

Shit there were 4 or 5 Saban Bama teams that would be a tough ask for these guys. That Georgia team that beat TCU by 60 is up there too.

Why the "Eeyore" and "Debbie Downer"?

I'm just interested in why coaches succeed. Cignetti has some great characteristics of a coach, no question.

But he's also kind of "curated" his environment and I think very intentionally. Probably because he sees some of these problems.

Wow that is some SECSECSEC boool shit.

Yea I said earlier the average years playing in college of their starters on offense is 4.2....longer than the standard college experience. And yes a lot of these guys were 2 and 3 stars. A 3 star with 3-4 years of playing experience can be pretty damn good in college.

It's impressive but duplicating it with the success will be difficult.

Tackle the WR - OK, you are losing by 27 and we need ratings

These refs better run away fast cause Cig is looking for a few bodies to dispose of.

But I’d love to see it. I just don’t think I’ve seen a team execute better.

is this the same crew that officiated Texas vs Vandy? They seem to have a similar motive

Well, we've always said, or have said about us, that being recruited by Texas is worth an extra star all by itself.

There's a lot of truth to that.

It's going to be harder for Cignetti to find those "lunch pail" guys and keep them away from other programs and keep them on the roster. IU is big-time now. Anyone they recruit is going to become big-time in pretty short order.

It may be the most disciplined team of all time for sure. Best is a stretch.

It looks like Cig is going to have to rebuild rather than reload, so they will most likely come back to earth. And they won't be sneaking up on anyone after these 2 seasons, either. Apparently he's one hell of a talent evaluator, though.

hard to judge, because it’s a different sport now than it was 10 years ago. You can’t hit anymore.

In my lifetime it’s 2005 Horns then 2008 Gators

Then Burrow LSU

Then these guys
