Where are they playing?  Who's opening?  (I could look it up, I'm lazy.  Wondering if it's Amyl & The Sniffers.)

Broncos' stadium.  Pretenders and EVH's kid are opening.  We're probably going to try to time it to skip the openers because 1) dogs, 2) it's supposed to be 98, and 3) I've never really liked the Pretenders.

Saw them in Cincinnati last week.  Foos delivered as always.  Nice to say I've seen the Pretenders in person.  Didn't make it in time for Wolfgang.  Worth the drive from Nashville.

"Holy shit, it's beautiful as fuck out here right now!" -- Dave

He kept remarking that this was the largest US crowd they've ever played for, which seemed hard to believe.

His other great line was, encouraging people to sing along, he said, "If you don't know the words, just look over at the 55-year old guy who's sitting next to you and do what he does."

LOL . . . I didn't realize that was the drummer kid they befriended.  I kept thinking "why does a pro saxophone player have such sketchy intonation?"  Because, not a pro, a kid.  Well done.

LOS ANGELES — Iconic rocker Dave Grohl announced the birth of a daughter outside of his marriage on social media Tuesday afternoon.

Grohl, frontman of Foo Fighters and the former drummer of Nirvana, married his wife Jordyn in 2003 and has three daughters with her.

He announced the news of his daughter out of wedlock on his Instagram @davestruestories and said he plans to be a loving parent to her.

“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re all grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together. – Dave”

It was insanely hot at that show.  Pretenders were good, though.  I missed Wolfgang's group.

He's got another confession to make.

But seriously, it's pretty shocking he didn't have a vasectomy, right?

That was my first thought.  Like, how?

To me, the funniest part of this is that how he still manages to totally Dave Grohl the whole thing.  "Yeah, I fucked up, but I'm totally gonna try and do the right now" and you kinda believe him.

Also kind of amazed in this day and age that these dalliances weren't a little more leaked.

grohl has a tight grip on his image. taylor hawkins' cause of death has never been released, definitely hush money. the rolling stone article that came out after his death where matt cameron and chad smith partially blamed grohl...statements retracted.  he does a great job of curating his nice guy persona. shit was about to be leaked or there's no way he releases that statement. also, cheating on his wife is exactly what he did the last time he had a bandmate die.

Yeah, I knew from that first rehearsal video he was not the guy.  I mentioned it here.  I like him in the right context, but he's too punk rock and not enough classic rock for the Foos, which is ironic given the backgrounds of Grohl, Smear, and Shiflett, but hey, there you go.

i'm sure the fact that he can go drum for 100 other different bands made the decision a lot easier. wouldn't be surprised if they've had someone else in mind the whole time, but freese was there and able to learn the songs quick because of his freelance experience.

Didn’t see that coming.

replacing Taylor is going to be a struggle for Dave.  Taylor was his soul brother IMO.  my guess is they go through drummers every 3 or 4 years until Dave decides to hang it up.  And considering Dave is a drummer, any drummer that takes the gig better be ready to get fired.

Yeah, that’s where I settled. It’s sort of a Cliff Burton Metallica situation. And like you said, with Dave already being one of the best drummers, it was already fraught for any drummer, but now add Taylor’s death and it takes it to another level.

spinal tap was spot on.

Kenny Jones did an admirable job replacing Moon.  he probably lasted the time he did because Townshend and Daltrey likely happy just to have someone stable on the kit.

I think Travis Barker should get a shot.  The usual names -- Danny Carey, Chad Smith, Matt Cameron -- are all quite a bit older than Dave.  They might give Taylor Hawkins' kid a look, or maybe someone out of left field like Stanton Moore (Galactic).  Jimmy Chamberlin would be unreal, but Billy Corgan would have him murdered, so that's a non-starter.  Roger Taylor's kid seemed pretty good when he sat in with them.  Tough call.  It will probably be some unknown.

Lol

Yeah I’d like to see Taylor’s kid get a shot. He’s probably close to the age Dave was when he joined Nirvana.

I would 100% not wish that upon him whatsoever.

There will always be critics.  I would think most people would go easy on him, but if he wants to be a pro drummer (and I have no idea if that's even true) he's always going to be compared to his dad.  See for instance Jason Bonham and Zak Starkey.

That's the least of my concern. It's the negative impact on his life. Look what it did to his dad.

He totally should be a drummer if he wants, just not in the Foo Fighters. Jason and Zak are prime examples how to go about it, wonderful careers in great bands.
