You are correct.  While some nuts may try something, the vast majority of Trumpkins won’t do shit.  They have too much to lose, and I’m not talking about insulin deliveries stopping or not being able to easily charge a Rascal scooter.    They have retirement funds and Social Security they count on, they have their cable or satellite TV where Fox News where Tucker and Hannity can make them feel smart.   They may have government bailouts/handouts that are keeping their farm going.    They need electricity to power everything.

Many Trumpkins have comfortable, or at least stable, lives they do not want disrupted.   Some old fart behind his keyboard sounds tough and like he wants to violently bring down the Democrats when they win next year, but take away his electricity, his heat or his air conditioning, take away a cheap and easily available gasoline or diesel supply, and that old fart is in an absolute world of shit, and he knows it.

Ironically, the Democrats could do far more to help these old farts maintain their lives and provide more of a security net for them, but the Republicans have done an outstanding job of making them think the Dems want to take everything away.

That’s why the GOP is so scared.   When a Democrat takes the White House in January of 2021, not much, if anything, is going to change for your typical Trumpkin, and when they discover that not much has changed, and that things may even improve as relations with other countries are restored, the GOP will lose its power.

I think we will have some small localized uprisings in the rural parts that are so deep red.  It's not just the olds who are full blown trumpkins, but it's all the kids too, from high school up.  Young guys with used diesel duallies with stars and bars and trump pissing on libs stickers in their windows.   I can see them acting much like the Klan has always done in east Texas...but it won't just be POC they will target.

It won't last long, it won't be organized, and it will be put down rather quickly.  But the bigger thing to deal with is the lingering wounded pride of having their dear leader toppled.    I just think how demoralized Germany was after WW1 and they were so ripe for someone like Hitler to come along and stoke those fires into Nazism.

So short term, there will be some localized damage, but whoever does take over after trump is going to need some helluva plan to show all Americans we can solve our problems and make the country (even world) a better place for all of us, not just the elite few.

Like so many have said, Trump is the pus, it's the deeper infection that needs dealt with, that's going to be our challenge.

There's some nuts, sure, but an actual uprising?  Against what?  The parts of the country you are talking about are so remote/red, who are they are going rise up against? Are they going to drive to an urban area, or perhaps the nearest state that voted blue and start shooting?

Let's say they show up at the local offices of whatever Democrat is running for whatever offices, whether it's local, state, or federal, and start shooting?

How does that end for them?

Spoiler alert:  They will most likely die.  No matter how red the area is, the local, county, state, and fed government (and law enforcement) are not going to allow Bubba Dipshit to go around shooting up shit because he's angry Trump lost.  The moment Bubba Dipshit starts sending rounds into an office or a crowd or whatever, he is considered a 100% threat by law enforcement and the local, county, state, and fed government.

We are less than four years removed from a Kenyan, Indonesian, Muslim, Atheist, Socialist, Marxist, Communist Community Organizer from Chicago named Barrack Hussein Obama, and most of those dipshits lived for 8 years under him, without rising up in rebellion.

When the Democrats win next fall, and these idiots discover that very little will change for them, and in fact, things may improve, as trade relations are repaired (assuming they can be repaired, Trump really fucked us with the Chinese), perhaps better medical care (j/k), and the the sun still comes up, and Rush Limbaugh is still bleeting on the radio and Brian Kilmeade is still pushing his insane theories about genetics and Tucker Carlson is still acting like he was trying to fart silently and instead sharted.

"Official".

Fucking rubes will click on that with glee thinking they are gonna  fill out an "official" survey.

This is Exhibit A of how Facebook wins.

I honestly hope you are right.  But I have had to live among these people since before W was elected, and I could see this revolt attitude building during Obama's term.  I think Trump and his willful disrespect for the rule of law has emboldened them.  They see Trump ignoring laws "for the betterment of the country" and figure then they can do the same and get away with it...because they will win.   Because God is on their side.  All that self righteous bullshit the tea party was slinging around.  That's how they see themselves, as the oppressed, by the deep state.

As far as law enforcement, most of those guys have been elected or hired by someone who owes their office to a MAGA strong electorate.  Even now the argument exists as to how our military would react if something like this little revolution started.  I think it's fair at least in the smaller rural areas that it's questionable how local LE would react.

I just think there will be some revolt of some sort.  And I think in small red counties like mine, anybody who isn't red will be targeted.  With a gun, I don't know...but they will be targeted.  These people are cowards, and will take out their wrath on innocent people whose only offense is believing different than they do.  I don't think it will be large or widespread, but there will be incidents.  We will have more El Pasos.

I don't think this is far off target, if you'll pardon the expression. I fear bombings. As stated, these people are cowards. They want to sit back and watch the show as their imagined enemy is vaporized. Can't do that if you're dead.

My FIL & his neighbors started a full blown militia in Kimble county within weeks of Obama being elected. A bunch of retired guys, most who served in 'nam or Korea, pretty much just an excuse to buy additional firearms & live out their John Wayne fantasies. FIL would call me monthly & ask me to go to Academy to buy ammo during the great bullet shortage caused by the panic buyers. My wife would roll her eyes & figured it was just a harmless way for him to kill time & socialize.

Our BIL went to one of their militia meetings during the height of their panic. Now, the BIL is aggy and as right wing as they come. He's an avid hunter & has several well stocked gun safes.  His report to me after the meeting was that they were pissed off & scary, but he didn't think they'd actually do anything. Twelve-plus years later & most of those guys are pushing 80. FIL--who has a mini Trump-shrine in the front room, complete with a cross and bible--is on his way out & is coming to terms with needing to wear diapers. Are they a threat? Almost assuredly not. But their sons & grandsons would be in their 20s - 60s now. That's where it gets scary.

Gotta pass on that hate (and armory).

I remember my Granddad telling me the Republican was for the rich man, the Democrat was for the little man. He never said anything about shooting either one he didn't agree with.

Again, what do they revolt against?  In the areas you are talking about, there's very few things that they can revolt against, that won't drastically hurt them in some way.

If some little area of deep-red folks declare that they are seceding from the US, then the county or state has their power and phone lines shut off, along with gasoline, diesel, natural gas, etc., and that little area will discover that life isn't pleasant when they can't watch their Hannity and Tucker, or drive their dually down to the gas station on the highway to get their smokes.  And Momma won't be able to keep her insulin refrigerated or charge her Rascal if the power is out, so that's not gonna go over well.

And if they try to ignore a group of locals murdering minorities and Democrats, then the state yanks their authority, and the state and feds come down on those local cops and civilians hard, and none of those cops wants to see the inside of a prison just to Bubba can murder a black guy or a lesbian

Here in 2020, you're simply not going to find any states who are going to let a bunch of locals go murdering folks they don't like, because, putting aside the criminal (and moral) issues, it's a challenge to the authority of the state.

Not many though.  None of these fuckers are going after Democrats right now, even though Trump keeps telling them that the Democrats are running a coup on him, and that the Democrats are gonna try and rig the election.

Unfortunately, there will be more El Pasos, but that isn't a revolt.  It's a mass shooting.  Right wing nuts are largely disorganized and are also more concerned with holing up in their homes/bunkers than marching on places of power.  Organized right wing groups consist largely of people running disinformation campaigns who don't really have the desire or stomach to actually pick up arms.

Red state politicians would be required for actual revolution and they don't have the stomach for it either since they realize their states are swimming in tax dollars provided by blue states. This is the big difference. Red state pols see value in keeping blue states around.

If we see actual revolt, it will come from blue states and areas. 4 more years of Trump may do it. 4 years of Trump plus 4 to 8 years of Trump Jr would definitely do it.  Do you think CA is going to sit by and let it's hard fought for and won environmental regulations be dismantled?  Blue state pols also aren't seeing any value at all from red states.  They see economic and social laggards. It wouldn't take much to decide we can live without the Deep South.

The only thing holding it all together right now is the economy. An economic downturn is going to start an absolute shitshow of civil unrest. None of it is going to come from Hazel Green, AL.

It's not much of an argument.   There's 1.3 million active-duty personnel in the US military, and around 500,000 of those are overseas right now, and we aren't going to pull them back to fight Bubba Inbred, nor are they are going to go AWOL and make their way back to fight alongside Bubba Inbred.  30% or so of the military is minority as well, plus Trump only has about 42% of the military who currently approve of him to begin with.

Spoiler

Let's drill down though:  The US Navy has US Navy shit to do, and they are stretched pretty thing as it is.  They aren't going to pull the bulk of their forces off of their ships and shore installations and train them up to go chasing after Bubba Inbred through Alabama, or to support Bubba Inbred.  The US Air Force has US Air Force shit to do, and are stretched thinner than the Navy, and they aren't going to cripple their aerial activities and the security of their installations to go chasing after Bubba Inbred or to support Bubba Inbred.  The US Marine Corps has US Marine Corps shit to do, and given that they are only 182,000-strong, and that a bunch of those are stationed overseas or on ships, they are definitely not up for this outside of contributing a few thousand troops.  That leaves the US Army, and guess what, the US Army has US Army shit to do, and they are stretched extremely thin as well.  Even then, the US Army only has 475,000 active duty troops with a huge chunk of those overseas or supporting overseas training, and if shit hits the fan, their #1 priority is to protect their installations and families.

I didn't touch on the National Guard (around 400,000-500,000), because that's spread out over 50 states/territories, and a lot of things have to happen for them to come into play, particularly having them active in other states.  Plus, a massive chunk of them are oriented towards support/logistics/etc. and not rolling down the highway gunning for Bubba Inbred (or supporting him).

Having been in the Army under Clinton, I can tell you that a lot of the lower ranks give less of a shit about politics than most think - they care about getting paid and getting laid.  They have a massive chain of command that many of them feel exists only to shit on their heads, and so they keep their heads down, follow their orders, and just kill time until their next leave or their enlistment is up or whatever.

We couldn't even pacify Iraq, a country smaller than Texas and a population of 25 million, with hundreds of thousands of combat troops who have looser rules of engagement than putting down a hypothetical insurrection here in the US.   And we've made reductions in our military since then.

If shit truly hit the fan, folks in the US military are going to be worried first about their families, and second, about keeping their installations secure (where their families would be), and keeping supplies coming in.  We've seen how dangerous and manpower-intensive it is to keep installations secure and supplied in hostile territory.

Sorry for the manifesto, but I just don't see the US military coming into play, because it's not large enough, and because it has US military shit to do, much of which is overseas or supporting overseas operations.   And because it's not built to run martial law in a country so large - we slack off in certain areas because we have two oceans protecting us, and we put the bulk of our resources into other areas because we have to cross those oceans to fight.

C'mon Trump, you know you want to comment.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/31/us/west-virginia-cadet-nazi-salute-fired-trnd/index.html

Quote

All of the West Virginia correctional cadets seen apparently giving a Nazi salute will be fired, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice announced.

The image, discovered in early December, shows the members of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation Basic Training Class 18 with one arm raised. The text above reads "HAIL BYRD!" in a reference to a training instructor for the class, according to the state Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety.

The governor condemned the training group's behavior in a statement on Monday.

"We have a lot of good people in the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety," Justice said. "But this incident was completely unacceptable. Now, we must continue to move forward and work diligently to make sure nothing like this happens ever again."

Three staff members at the training academy will also be fired. Four other instructors who failed to report the photograph will be suspended without pay, he said.

Trump is golfing while the Embassy in Baghdad is under an attempted attack.

There is nothing attempted about it, they are having to fly in over a 100 additional Marines, and from twitter, it looks like they are arming the remaining personnel and the PMCs are joining in (or seeking shelter).

And keep in mind that the Iraqis are fully responsible for the security of the Green Zone, and this sounds like the "protestors" are being allowed to freely walk around and attack embassy stuff.
