Getting old sucks

Well hell I'm looking for information from docs, victims or patients familiar with a real shitty situation. For about the last four months I've been dealing with diarrhea.  At first it was one or two times a week, but kept getting worse.  At first I thought it might be junk food ect. because it seemed to stop when I'd go home on the weekend, and by late Monday it would be back again.  For the last two or three weeks it's been nearly every day.  I talked to my doctor on the phone who referred me to a GI specialist who I'll see the 19th.   Could this possibly be a developing gluten allergy that's advancing to celiac disease?  I know I can't keep going on like this.  I'm losing weight, afraid to eat...I know darned well I'm dehydrated.  Add exhausted to the list also, there's times it's so bad I'm afraid to go to sleep.

Thoughts?

Hope everything comes out OK. Sounds like the situation is fluid.

But seriously, I hope you can get it resolved quickly once you get to a GI.

First thought - See you in the shart thread

Second thought - You must have done something horrible in a previous life

Third thought - I can't help you, but I hope it gets better soon

Well, start by picking up a few packs of these.

Sounds a lot like gall bladder issues. So sorry, no fun at all, particularly after you almost bought the farm last week on a frontage road. Hope your GI doc gets you straightened out ASAP.

Might cost you an arm and a leg (another one).

I've got a friend with gall bladder squirt infraction, which usually gets inflamed when he drinks too much and eats like shit.  Definitely no fun.  But he hasn't mentioned mudbutt as a side effect.

Every guy under 55 needs to read this post. If you’ve been putting off fun activities that require some strenuous physical activity, like hiking, skiing, etc. GO DO THEM STARTING NOW. You will be very bummed out when your body just seems to break down all of a sudden, making it difficult for you to do things. It can come out of nowhere and happen immediately.

Agreed. Also, if you don’t stretch regularly, start now. It’s important.

Wife had similar issues, went to GI specialist, was told it was IBS, and to do the Low-FODMAP diet. It's helped when she follows it.

Tore a disk in my lower back about 10 years ago.  After about two months of hellish pain, something settled the right way and poof, the pain is gone!  In the intervening years there were minor flare-ups, but nothing serious.  A couple of weeks ago I had just fixed a toilet that wouldn't stop running and straightening up when my back spasms like all of the imps and demons in hell are screwing it down tight.  For the last two weeks it has been like this off and on.  Just about the time everything relaxes and I feel good to go, it tightens up again.

The pain has overwhelmed my stubbornness, and I am going to the doctor tomorrow.  If it doesn't kill me today.  Y'all young 'uns listen up.  Stay in decent shape, follow all of the rules about protecting your back, and don't take anything for granted.

I've got my first colonoscopy scheduled for this Tuesday, just shy of turning 51. Tried to get it back in March but COVID nixed that for several months. When I was finally able to reschedule I had two options: 1:30PM on Nov 17th or after the 1st of the year. I said 'fuck it, let's do it now.'

So I'm on the low fiber diet now and ready to start the prep tomorrow. Looking forward to a night on the shitter, and being pissed off and hungry all day Tuesday.

The hunger is fine, no big deal.
The timing of evacuating your bowels is the unfortunate part. You’ll be on the throne all night. So you’ll be hungry AND cranky from no sleep. Looking forward to your posts in the bidet and insomnia threads.

After fighting with my local VA quack for years, I finally got an appointment with a podiatrist. 2 cortisone shots and I can fucking walk again! I'm going to run this sob thru the wringer after finding out about patient advocates. There was no need for this bs.

I've never once looked at any of the shart threads. I'm not overly superstitious, but I'm not gonna whistle while walking through the graveyard.

So you're not superstitious,  but you're a little stitious

There is a reason pro athletes line up in the training room for cortisone shots some hours before the big game.

Unfortunately, they are only a temporary fix.

When I hurt my elbow playing tennis I stayed way away from corisone shots.  did some platlet plasma therapy and PT.  I've got some topical CBD stuff that actually does fucking wonders.  YMMV with various products, a lot of bullshit out there.  but the good stuff is pretty remarkable if the injury is inflammation related.

When ever I get lazy and start skipping the exercise, I read this thread, and I'm back in the saddle, so to speak, the next day.

the last 18 months seems to be much harder.  I was in peak shape and it was a breeze, I'm still not back after that injury and covid.  suuuuucks.  some days I can tell my muscles are begging for some weights.  need to drop 15 lbs at least.  doesn't seem to want to happen.

Details on awesome CBD stuff?

Getting old and having Covid sucks. I can't shake the fever and have had it for over two weeks.

Never had the fever, but 5 weeks later, I'm still coughing like a motherfucker.   I literally coughed so hard this morning that I puked.  Former trumpet player, non-smoker.   This sucks.
