  1. I highly recommend the WWII Museum in New Orleans. I noticed the section on the home front: the Government did not let you buy gas. Or tires. Or nylon stockings for women. Or anything needed in the war effort. Think about it: the Patriots of WWII could not buy GAS and go for a drive on a holiday. Which was understood to help the war effort. The GOP “Patriots” can’t wear a mask for ten minutes to stop a killer contagion. Can you imagine those selfish fucks being told they have to have a government coupon to buy gas??

  2. Here's some more BDE for the night crew. Buddy of mine just sent me this from OB. I'm on Mountain Time so glad to be contributing. Who am I? Just a loyal Texas fan with no insiders on the Texas side. Don't be mislead by the shield, I have been on OB since 2004. I am the poster who this time last year told you that a buddy of mine who is an OSU insider said that UFM didn't listen to USC last year because he really liked possibility of Texas job. Things I was told, let's call it level 3. 1) OSU did not do and will not do us any favors as far as hiring UFM. - He was reminded of his job at OSU while reaching out to current coaches on staff about positions at Texas during a playoff run. - Even went as far as asking his medical team to reach out to him to remind him of potential health issues arising if he returns to coaching. 2) Shelly could and will probably receive a promotion/new position of some sort with the university. 3) Potential honors would be harder to do if he returns to coaching, i.e. statue and Ring of Honor 4) His wife is more onboard with him than returning to coaching than the kids. Its easier on the wife of a coach than kids who want full time granddad. 5) Don't under estimate the bad blood between UFM and Herman being a selling point for taking the Texas job. Herman's role with Zack Smith issue and Herman being so arrogant with not as much as a Conference Championship skin on the wall chaps UFM's ass! 6) The Meyers and OSU expect another full court press from Texas once OSU is eliminated or wins the CFP. We'll see how it all plays out. Just passing along what I heard

  3. I’m not saying he’s my first choice but fucking lol at saying we’d be better off keeping Herman than getting Kelly. Kelly wins games at a top tier program and ND is often (even if inappropriately) in the playoff discussion. Herman fucking wishes he was half as successful as Kelly.

  5. Exactly right. MAGA is nothing more than the idea that you, as a red-blooded American, should get to do whatever the fuck you want to do no matter how selfish, destructive, counterproductive, or reckless it is. As a corollary, you also have the right to demand that everyone else abstain from doing anything that offends your fragile sensibilities because this is America, where others are obligated to follow any arbitrary customs you deem required by your self-centered notions of Law & Order and patriotism. MAGA encourages grown adults to behave like cranky toddlers. It’s a 180 degree shift from the old Republican notion of personal responsibility.

  10. FANTASTIC post. Dead-center of the bullseye. 1 -- you can't make me do anything, or not do anything, because FREEDOM AMERICA LIBERTY PATRIOT EAGLE GUN! 2 -- but we MAGAs can use the force of law to crush anyone who isn't sufficiently "American" enough in their behavior, ethnicity, etc. And if you don't like it, GIT OUT! Our national creed these days is that of a fucking petulant toddler. Which perfectly matches the president we elected in 2016.

  16. Why do people think ND would hire Meyer. The Catholic church would never hire someone who covered up abuse....oh wait.

  23. In June of 1977, I took a certain college girl out to dinner, and then to see "A New Hope" for our first date. We hit it off pretty well. Tonight, we watched the season finale together. We laughed, we cried, we anticipated, and we exalted. The arc of Star Wars has been the arc of our life together, and we were pleased to see such a strong story line. Apparently, the force has been with us.

  24. I was able to watch this episode with my 8 year-old son, and it's going to be one of those memories we treasure - when the X-Wing pulled in, I think he thought it might be the X-Wing cops that seemed to pop up randomly, but it was clicking in my head that it was only one X-Wing, and I had been waiting on the Jedi that Grogu called out to. My kid started shaking and just bouncing up and down on the couch next to me when the green lightsaber came out and he realized who it was.

  25. The world needs to be reminded daily that accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt. Every fuckstick who gets pardoned should be referred to as an admitted felon every time they are mentioned anywhere. Example excerpt from future Biden speech: "My Attorney General will be appointing a special prosecutor to investigate former Sec of State and admitted felon Mike Pompeo...." Example NYT headline a few months from now: "Admitted Felon Donald Trump Junior ODs on Cocaine and Krocodil Drug Cocktail" etc etc

  26. By: IT Staff SCENARIO 3/3.5 We’ve been urging patience regarding coaching resolution and will continue to do so. So will our sources. “I just know nothing will happen until after New Years.” - high level source to @Bobby Burton. Inside Texas has heard the same from two other quality sources this week. As the echoes of the Scenario 1 death rattle pings through Bellmont Hall’s....er, halls, Scenario 3 (search for a commoner) and 3.5 (search for an upper-middle class candidate) are in the developmental stages. Urban Meyer declining his invitation to coach at Texas did two things: 1) It prolonged the search timeline. This is obvious but also requires explanation. We won’t say all the eggs were in that basket but all of the effort required to pull that hire off was, and landing him was the only time sensitive acquisition out there given the positive effects it would have had on recruiting. Also, he didn’t have a real job and could have left the TV set at any time. That was a unique circumstance the other candidates don’t find themselves in. 2) It scattered the BB’s ever so slightly. That was foretold to happen in these very pages if Texas missed on Meyer. That brief scattering on the floor was cleaned up before it led to too many embarrassing slip ups like the Wet Bandits trying to burgle. Maybe we’ll return to that topic in a retrospective but for now it should be accepted as positive news. Thinags could change with a couple public declinations, but for now this is not resembling disorganization or a circus. When Meyer declined it guaranteed nothing would happen soon. Both the unrealistic and realistic candidates are all still coaching for titles of varying prestige. The belief behind the scenes is that time is an ally. Fans — short for fanatics — will disagree, but if the goal is to make a great hire then sure and steady is the way things have to be. From what we can gather, none of the decision makers view Texas as being in desperation mode. You’re not going to see what’s occurring at Auburn occurring at Texas. Even Greg Fenves understood how to handle transition. We’ve been told any names that are circling are speculation, but we’ve heard one name more frequently than the others. You’ll understandably want a name but if you take a step back I’m sure you’ll understand why we can’t give it yet. It would undoubtedly be a good hire but there’s a long way to go. No, we’re not trying to drum up subs or some other nonsense. Keeping the name quiet hurts us in that regard, but it does allow the school to operate in relative silence. The trilateral commission (AD, president, and BOR) is cognizant of the fact some quality coaches will want to use Texas to get a raise. That will be difficult to do because there is no opening. However, talks could progress to a point a candidate has an offer from Texas as well as his current school and will have to make a choice. That’s the gamble but it happens every day in the real world. The belief is if they handle the process correctly, it will yield greater results than haphazardly shooting boatloads of money out of a t-shirt cannon in the general direction of well known coaches. TEAM Texas returned to practice on Tuesday and again on Thursday. It was more of ‘back to basics’ as the team had restricted workouts during the team’s COVID issues last week. The next team practice is to be determined. The team will learn its potential bowl location and opponent on Sunday. The most likely destination is the Cheez It Bowl or the Alamo Bowl for a team that will look very different from the last time we saw it. Sam Cosmi, Caden Sterns, Chris Brown, and Joseph Ossai have all opted out and are preparing for the NFL Draft. It’s an opportunity for the younger players to put out good film heading into the spring. With Cosmi out and Derek Kerstetter's injury, the offensive line continues to shuffle. The current projection from left-to-right: Karic-Angilau-Majors-Jones-Okafor. But there will be more shuffling. We’re seeing more Andrej Karic at left tackle after his play versus Kansas State. Christian Jones has moved to RG, with Okafor moving the other direction to RT. We’re also hearing Tyler Johnson has been working at RG/RT and true freshman Jaylen Garth has been at RT. Garth has been at full strength the last two weeks and hopes to finish strong and be in a position to contribute in 2021. At wide receiver, Brennan Eagles remains uncertain of his return or declaring for the draft. Marcus Washington is another player not guaranteed to return. Jared Wiley’s shoulder continues to mend and his availability for the bowl game is uncertain. On defense, you’ll see more Jett Bush at jack, Jerrin Thompson at field safety, and Kitan Crawford at corner. BJ Foster is still nursing what we believe is a hamstring injury. IT has learned Texas could lose a young defensive back to the Portal soon after the addition of McNeese State grad transfer Darion Dunn. It’s a player who might have contributed in a more minor role next year. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown continues to weigh his options on returning for his senior year. On the offensive line, Derek Kerstetter and Denzel Okafor have yet to decide if they’ll return for 2021. Willie Tyler, who opted out earlier in the year, may also return but is undecided. One of the few areas of concern on defense next year will be defensive end. Moro Ojomo, playing out of position, came on strong, but the team could use more burst off the edge. Jacoby Jones is undecided on his return (we think it’s possible, if not likely) but we’ve heard Marqez Bimage is expected back.

So much fun. I’ll have to find those pics. In other happenings, our Elf got jacked this morning. I knew last night when my wife placed him it was a bad spot. Penny kept checking him out. 32. My dad trained and showed cutting horses. He also did a lot of judging so I spent a lot of time in arenas on the 6666, the Pitchfork and the Waggoner. We also would go to their yearling sales. Man...when I was about 8-12 years old, I LOVED doing that shit. They would let me run the scores to the tables and even sometimes let me bid at the sales. At the end, I would be covered in dirt and we would wash off in the water tanks. We went to one roping in Guthrie one year. It was some kind of benefit. My old man gave me $10 dollars and said, "Go buy 4 matchbooks and just give them this $10." Sure thing...so I head off to where they were selling matchbooks for $1. With each matchbook, they gave you a frosty Coors. But 12 yr old me ordered 5 matchbooks and drank one on the way back to the our folding chairs on the rail. The Waggoner got bailed out by Kroenke and saved that part of Texas from the Mormons, which would have killed the tax roles in about 4 counties. I haven't talked to the old man about what he knows about the 6666, but hopefully some people can get the $$$ together to keep the horse/cattle and the land all together. The last I talked to someone from Vernon, the cowboys there seemed to be happy with the changes. I don't know about the farming or the oil pieces though. Love this picture of all of these mares.

  34. The starkest difference with the culture of WW2 era Americans is the pervasive influence of misinformation and proliferation of malcontent today. Rush, Hannity and Q can join you in your living room morning, noon and night telling you to be angry and afraid. Cultivating the worst in us is quite the cottage industry. Hobble that industry and perhaps we can start being fellow Americans again.
