Man, 25, In Epic Post-Nuptial Meltdown

SEPTEMBER 3--After fleeing from the scene of an auto crash he caused, a 25-year-old motorist--who was married earlier in the day and appeared under the influence--declared “……” before scuffling with Florida jailers who sought to restrain him, according to court records.

Police charge that Nicholas Ruthenberg was driving the wrong way on a Vero Beach street late Monday afternoon when he struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. Ruthenberg ran from the scene of the crash, which resulted in the hospitalization of the other driver for “neck, back, and leg pain,” cops reported.

Ruthenberg, who was subsequently arrested near the crash site, was acting erratically and “appeared as if he were under the influence of an unknown substance.”

Upon arrival at the county jail, Ruthenberg declared …….” while failing a series of sobriety tests.

Ruthenberg’s blood alcohol level was 0.0, prompting police to ask him for a urine sample to “determine the presence of chemical or controlledsubstances.”

As a cop prepared the urine test, Ruthenberg “started to take his pants off and then spread his buttocks. During which time he placed two fingers in his anus.” Ruthenberg was then placed back in handcuffs.

After later agreeing to undergo a drug evaluation, Ruthenberg “began acting erratic again and was out of control,” leading jail personnel to again restrain him with handcuffs. Ruthenberg’s behavior, an investigator concluded, was consistent with someone under the influence of some kind of stimulant.

Ruthenberg was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury. He was released from the county jail Wednesday after posting $2000 bond.

As seen in nuptial photos posted to Facebook, Ruthenberg was married August 30, the day he was arrested. His bride turned 20 that day, according to the couple’s marriage certificate. The duo was wed by a clerk at the Indian River County Courthouse in Vero Beach, to which Ruthenberg will return October 1 for his arraignment.

The auto crash Ruthenberg caused occurred a few blocks from the courthouse.

Ruthenberg, who lives about 15 miles from Vero Beach, is a registered Democrat, according to Florida voter records. The email address he provided when registering is ifarted69@gmail.com. (2 pages)

NOTE:  She is a graduate of the California Institute of Technology and former Bay Area biotech employee

"A California woman professing to be a shaman who was arrested and charged with igniting the wildfire that has thousands of homes under threat claimed the fire was started inadvertently while she was attempting to boil bear urine, authorities said."

"The self-proclaimed shaman said she had been hiking to Canada as the blaze approached Shasta County on Wednesday, documents noted.

When she became thirsty and approached a puddle of what she claimed to be bear urine, she told forest officials she attempted to make a fire to purify it.

The wood she hoped to use was "too wet for the fire to start," documents said.

Souverneva then drank the animal urine and proceeded on her journey, according to the report.

She allegedly became caught in some brush and had to call the local fire department for assistance.

The firefighters requested she empty her pockets and fanny pack, to which she presented CO2 canisters, a lighter, and "a green, leafy substance she admitted to smoking that day,"

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A Danish artist who was was given a pile of money by a museum with which to create a piece of artwork, submitted two empty canvases — titled “Take the Money and Run.”

Jens Haaning was given the equivalent of nearly $84,000 in Danish kroner and euro bank notes by the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg.

For its exhibition on labor conditions and money, entitled “Work It Out” that opened Sept. 24, the museum commissioned him to recreate two of his earlier pieces, which featured bank notes attached to a canvas representing the average annual wage in Denmark and Austria. As well as lending him the notes, the museum also paid him 25,000 kroner ($3,900) for the work.

But when museum officials received the completed artworks, they were blank.

“The artwork is that I have taken the money,” Haaning told a radio show on the P1 channel that is part of Danish broadcaster DR this week. He declined to say where the money was.

I always thought it was a shame that UNT doesn't have a radio station that follows the standard university radio station naming convention, like KTCU or KUNM.

KNTU is as close as they could get. The license was issued when they were North Texas State University.
