If a politician's supporters don't care that he acts with no dignity, no grace, exhibits almost no intellect, and is incapable of telling the truth the vast majority of the time, that tells me everything I need to know about them. They are bad people. They can't do the ethical math and come to the conclusion that, even if the ends justify the means, at some point one has to recognize that either those ends are malicious or that they got lucky, and either way it's not a sustainable process if one is actually interested in what is good and right. And, in Trump's case, the ends never justify the means, because he never gets anything done, with the single exception of sowing division. As I said, if that's your goal, you are a bad person, just like Trump.14 points

NGD! The pics don't do it justice IMO. Looks gorgeous and I love the feel of the ebony fretboard. Something was wrong with the high E string, which kept popping out of tune and then broke pretty fast, but it sounds fantastic, even better than I remembered during the guitar center test run.9 points

It’s actually the only thing he cares about. It’s mind-blowing that you can’t see that. His entire life has been driven by how others perceive him.7 points

He’s the flipping President of the United States!! I’m what world is it acceptable for him to only be “good” (whatever the fuck that means) when he wants to be. I feel safe in saying most of us would find ourselves toting our belongings to our car if we were only good at our jobs when we wanted to be. The excuses his devotees make for this facsimile of of a person are something else, man.6 points

I think I’d vote for Bernie over Joe Biden. Obama picked Biden to placate the establishment democrats as a kind of, “you see, I’m not really a radical democrat.” Biden is everything wrong with the Democratic Party. He’s a nice guy and gives everyone the warm and fuzzy feeling that everything is going to be okay. Everything is not going to be okay. We have serious shit we need to deal with that go well beyond party politics. Biden has no tangible vision to address these issues and the aura of entitlement that led us straight to an asshole like Donald Trump getting elected. Sure Biden can get the nomination and he can probably beat Trump but it will all be for very little in the grand scheme of things if he doesn’t cut the political gaming out and confront our challenges head on. I might not like Bernie or his specific solutions but at least he has a way forward. Biden offers nothing except a longing for a past that wasn’t that great anyway. /rant5 points

I don't know what the solution to the immigration issue is, but I have long despised characterizing persons like you describe as evil. In my young days I worked a lot of outdoor, blue collar jobs with guys who barely spoke English. They worked hard. They lived cheap. They sent money to their families. They didn't harm anyone. That's the best kind of man. Same goes for the women who work in homes across the nation. We're not spitting out evil by sending them away. The evil is in the vile language used to falsely portray them.5 points

Best day of my life, Quepos, Costa Rica. Maybe when my kids get gone I can live here with a 30 ft center console or something and run out on any given afternoon and grab snapper for dinner.5 points

Looks like they’re going with the Dossier origin story conspiracy theory. Which is an absurd theory when you actually think about it: So the plan from the beginning was for Hillary and the democrats to fund this fake opposition research project, which was originally commissioned by republicans and later largely proved mostly accurate, to inspire an FBI investigation into Trump’s Russia ties. However, they kept all this information secret before the election because they thought Hillary was going to win anyway despite the FBI going out of its way to hurt Hillary as a candidate. An effort Trump praised Comey for but later fired over as a coverup story because Comey was investigating Trump-Russia connections. Of course this was all part of the democrats master plan to get Sessions to recuse himself so Mueller could be appointed special counsel and hire 13 angry democrats to go on a fake witch hunt that amounted to the indictments of Trump’s campaign manager, personal attorney, deputy campaign manager, foreign policy adviser, National Security adviser, long time political adviser, and two dozen Russians for crimes related to the Kremlin’s 2016 attack on American democracy. An attack that didn’t happen according to Trump because Putin told him it didn’t happen and he trusts him. You see, Trump is the real victim here.5 points

Hey you cannot like Democrats or lefties or liberals, whatever. Or dislike all Republicans and hate the righties. But on the specific issue of Donald Trump, you should never initially believe a word he says. That doesn't mean he's wrong 100% of the time because if you throw enough shit at a wall, some will stick. He is a lying con man through and through to his core. It's everything and the only thing he knows. Every move he makes is a con in some manner, every day.5 points

All of these shows are terrible and not funny. Late night comedy used to be good about a decade ago when it wasn’t 100% political and so biased. John Oliver is close to being decent (he has his moments) but even he has turned Comedy Central with so much of his content being the democrat party line lately.4 points

Somebody brought up in the Trump thread that we should have a dedicated thread for that. I agree, no point clogging up a particular thread with political monologues. Let's clog shit up here. Pound for pound, Seth Myers is the clear leader. Sure Jon Oliver and Bill Maher have more depth, but Myers lands more punches with A Closer Look. His writing skills from Weekend Update shine and he's got a good research staff. Kind of impressed with Jim Jefferies weekly show. Not a format I would have expected for him, but his interviews are really good. I'm sure Samantha Bee is better than all of them, but I just can't stand to listen to her voice. It was the same when she was on The Daily Show. #itsnotyouitsme Anyway, post your videos here.3 points

A lot of us are exactly that. Enough of us to re-elect him is my bet. We bought into an illusion that we’re a decent country. We were stupid and believed what we wanted to. We’re not. We’re not decent at all. I am FB friends with an old classmate who is a BP agent. In the past couple of years, he’s gotten trumpier. This week, he posted an image of the twin towers in flames, with a quote about how the Muslims promised to take us down from within, and we said we’d never forget. Now they’re in Congress, taking us down from within, and we’ve forgotten their threat. This is how the Trumpkins think, it really is that binary. If you ignore all of the overwhelming data that stands against my thesis, and consider only a handful of things that he once said, then my thesis about Trump is unquestionably correct - Trumpkin logic. Stop trying to reason with them. It only inflames them. They are bad people. They have all the data, they’ve just decided that they’re okay with it. What Trump has revealed about we the people is the worst part of this whole thing. We the people are stupid, cruel, shitheels. It’s our brand. Topped with fake bleached hair.3 points

I made it 9:30 in and had to stop at "They[meaning progressives/libs] got what they wanted with civil rights and since then we've had true equality of opportunity." Holy shit. I do not know how anyone could be more out of touch. I hope out of this group of democrats a leader emerges who can articulate a vision for the future that unites the country under reason and multicultural values, restores morality, and starts to address the glaring (and growing) inequality we have today. That's what it's going to take. Guys like Victor Davis Hanson and whoever is interviewing him are are so out of touch, they are beyond hope and we need to just let them die off. They speak like they're facing an existential threat, which is probably accurate but it doesn't mean we should save the out of touch white man. Let him die and let's embrace the future.3 points

I remember very clearly stopping for gas in a small central Louisiana town on prom night many moons ago. Nothing like a mixture of coonasses, dayglo prom dresses, and a large serving of Psilocybe cyanescens. I quite distinctly remember that the air conditioner in the bathroom was playing a basso profundo rendition of "I Dream of Jeanie" whilst the mirror broke into fractals. Anyway, when the truckload of high school students pulled up, and a gaggle of girls in garish dresses hopped out of the back, I couldn't help myself. I just bust out laughing, and didn't stop for the longest time. Easily my favorite prom memory.3 points

I think that it's really important for everyone to be honest when we have these discussions, so thank you for correcting the record. Given the broader context of his statement that he was referring to gang members, I'll concede it wasn't as bad as it sounded in the out-of-context video. Still, I wouldn't go so far as to call gang members "animals" even though I deplore their behavior. We all know how gangs work and how they recruit and corrupt young people to become members. I will say, however, that if he doesn't hold beliefs that Latin American immigrants and asylum seekers are repugnant, I wish he'd be more careful with the language he chooses. This is because we all know there are crazies out there who can literally view statements such as the one in the video and claim he said something he didn't perhaps intend and could use them as justification for something really horrible. Moreover, in his announcement to run for president, he did in fact make a broadside attack on Mexican immigrants in general claiming they were rapists etc. and only conditionally stated that "some, I assume, are good people." There was no wiggle room in that particular historic announcement. Finally, the treatment of immigrants, asylum seekers, and their children by departments underneath his executive authority have not exactly been shining examples of American generosity nor humanity, which I also think sets a poor example and contributes to the broader belief by certain individuals that immigrants/asylum seekers shouldn't be treated as the human beings that they actually are. I'm not going to claim (yet) that immigrants/asylum seekers have been specifically targeted for mistreatment by certain Americans with bad intent, but it wouldn't surprise me. So, in brief, I think that Donald Trump should be much more careful with his words because they carry extra weight, meaning, and power as he is the President of the United States. Unfortunately, I think we all know he can't or won't do that.3 points

dope. that's what we were all hoping for when we hired Shaka. we all envisioned that, going into year 5 of the shaka smart era, that our fans would be throwing down the gauntlet, drawing a line in the sand, and saying proudly, "I bet you anything we make the tournament next year." Well, I signed up to host! I submitted the venue for approval and reading the host guide it sounds like it’s an organizational role. I have to do a speech thing and train the door knockers and teach the script and plan the map and make sure they all have the app and that kind of stuff. Exactly what I was hoping for, so I’m super pumped! Now I just hope my shirt gets here in time!3 points

I'm finally ready to join the club. I'm currently on day 11. I've reset the clock several times over the past year and have definitely reset that line in the sand several times. I've seemed to have no problem stopping, but when I do take that first drink, it's "balls to the wall" until I pass out or someone forces me to stop. My friends have told me once I cross that line into blackout territory, that I show multiple personalities and become delusional. Over the past 3 years, I've drained myself financially to chase the drink (and women), came close to losing my kids, broken several personal relationships, and had my first arrest about 3 weeks ago (PI). I've finally hit my breaking point and ready to make myself whole again. I'm very grateful for where I am at now and am the most clear headed that I have been in at least 3 years.3 points
