If you are a Texas fan and either go to SEC Rant or listen to Paul Finebaum, you only have yourself to blame.21 points

Just so you guys know, Gottlieb does not speak for all of us. At least the rational ones. I don't blame OU or Texas for making the move and neither owes us anything. I think we've done a pretty good job over the past fifteen years building our brand (thanks to Boone, Holder, and Gundy) and now it's time to see if it makes any difference. My guess is no, but that's the way it goes in college football. It's basically impossible to break into the top tier and be accepted. I guess maybe Clemson is the exception to the rule. Also I, for one, don't give a shit if we ever play OU in any sport ever again. Probably petty and shortsighted, but like I said...it's time to move on.19 points

Some talking head just claimed the Texas/OU game now being an SEC game will put it on the map as a big rivalry game, for fuck’s sake.17 points

If you aren't vaccinated, please consider who you are listening to that has gotten you to this point. Virtually every person on this board with graduate level scientific or medical training is telling you the same thing. You see a lot of frustration in our responses, but that's because we actually do care whether you live, or die and we care about the people around you too. If you have good faith questions, ask them, get those concerns addressed and get vaccinated. If not, please shut the fuck up right now. A bunch of Americans are about to die because of disinformation, at least have the decency to keep your ignorance to yourself and don't try to get someone else on this board killed too. You have smart motherfuckers on this board who care about you that want you to live. Don't listen to Texags, please get vaccinated.16 points

People believe immigrants are the ones spreading Covid because they were told to believe that by terrible people that want power. The same with the election being rigged. Suburban neighborhoods being overrun by black people. Democrat cities are the only ones with crime. Radical socialists are taking over America. Guns don’t kill people. Communists are infiltrating America. Reefer madness. Violence in the media. Rap music corrupting kids. Jewish cabal of Marxism. Homosexuality making kids gay. Homosexuality leads to pedophilia. The list goes on and on People believe this idiocy because it’s makes it easier to live their shitty lives if someone else is response for their problems other than themselves. Corporations and their paid politicians are happy to exploit this if it takes the blame or attention away from their exploitive actions12 points

Ray Perryman. He’s done a great job of branding himself as “the state’s leading economist.” What he hasn’t done is….be a good economist. Quite a few years ago, an opposing party hired him as their big-name expert. I’ve never destroyed an “expert” on cross as easily as I did Perryman. And the fun part was using his own previous work against him (he’s a publicity whore, so it’s all out there). His analysis here is utterly one-sided. He isn’t opining about net jobs in Texas. He’s only looking at the loss side of the ledger. Which is what he does: offer utterly incomplete and thus false analyses.12 points

Fuck off, this is a flat out lie. The last data on Israeli breakthroughs came out July 21 and I posted it on this board in a thread you read and have shit in for the last 18 months while spewing your idiocy. There have been no updates since. The last update suggests that neither vaccines, nor previous infection prevent Delta infection, but it is likely both reduce severity and symptoms strongly, especially if the vaccine, or infection was recent. The Israeli data says the complete opposite of what you are claiming, a bunch of breakthroughs are going to happen, but will have reduced symptoms. We have no idea how much risk of long covid you will have other than small sample Israeli studies show long covid is happening in 19% of breakthrough patients. Again, something I posted on this board recently and you are aware of. You are also being disingenuous by claiming the Wall Street Journal Opinion piece was suggesting breakthroughs are rare and that Gottlieb endorses your take. The OPINION article is about counting previously infected people as infected in the UK and whether they have anti-bodies right now. I can't read the whole thing, but I don't see what you mentioned at all in the part I can see. ^ From your WSJ opinion piece. It's abundantly obvious to literally every single person actually in the United States that we are no where even close to 92% of our population having anti-bodies. We all see through you GRHorn and we'll see you again when you roll out your next sock to spew lies and endanger lives. Again. We can all see with our own fucking eyes the breakthroughs happening. It takes a special kind of asshole to come on here and spew lies right now, so you've got that going for you at least.10 points

It's not that they have "fundamental counter beliefs and points", it's that they are fucking stupid. SEC sports forums like TexAgs, SECRant/Tiger Droppings, etc. are the only sports forums where I saw the fucking Qanon idiots take hold and pump their battshittery out with the blessing of their mods. When I look at my my idiot relatives and friends and acquaintances who are into Qanon, I don't think "hey I need to attempt considerations and engage in the higher order thinking that is necessary to converse with those who think JFK Jr. is still alive and going to run with Trump in 2024, who think Oprah Winfrey and Tom Hanks are drinking the blood of children to keep themselves young or whatever (it's obviously not working), who think Joe Biden and Donald Trump swapped faces or who think that Biden was only inaugurated so that Trump could have the military arrest him!" It's the same reason why, when I see a baby, I don't think "hey I need to attempt considerations and engage in the higher order thinking that is necessary to converse with this child who, if given the chance, will shove his hand into a dirty diaper and proceed to create artwork all over the walls with his own shit."10 points

About Arkansas..... My wife (no pics assholes) got her master's degree from UT. Her dad is an old SWC Arky fans so by default, he hates all things Texas and UT. So, at the graduation, he wears a red shirt on purpose. While they sang the Eyes of Texas, she looked up in the stands and saw one red dot in a sea of orange with his arms crossed while the rest of the crowd did the hook 'em horns sign. The old Arkies absolutely hate UT and all things Texas.9 points

My irrelevant thoughts… I hope ISU and OSU land on their feet. I will personally miss the Baylor games. I have a history with that school that dates back over 50 years. That being said, they deserve what ever crappy fate that befalls them. I am part of the crowd that doesn’t think this is a good fit culturally. SEC sparks associations with the old south. I have always bristled at the notion that Texas was a Southern state. We march to our own tune here and it ain’t Dixie. Ags might have something to say about that. I am afraid as others have stated, that we are at the precipice of all that is about to change. I hope when it all settles we still have some semblances of what we enjoy today. Whining aside, this was the move to make at this time. Hopefully the powers that be at Texas continue to evolve as the landscape changes. Going to be a great time to be on Surly for the long run. Well he went to Baylor. Manipulation, twisting, and concealment of material fact is kind of their thing. I for one am loving watching the rug get pulled out from Baylor 100X more than any other school involved. Those little shits in the lege and their judges are like a special interest group in the world of college sports trying to force their way into the conversation. i genuinely feel bad for Tech, OSU, KU, and ISU. All four are great schools with a lot to offer any P5/P4 conference. TCU to a much lesser extent, but they may sneak into one due to their location. KSU is a lost cause, But Baylor... Baylor has absolutely no hope of a P4, yet they will try and manipulate and legislate their way into one unsuccessfully. It will be glorious to watch them become a basketball school while their new shiny stadium is tarped off and sits 50% empty. And then, When we decide to throw them a bone in 10 years and schedule them, people will complain about them being a cupcake game. And in that cupcake game if we dont beat them into the ground by 50+ I will start a fire ______ thread on principle. Get fucked Baylor, you insignificant speck on the taint of college athletics.7 points

A lot of the success of the NCAA tourney is that almost regardless of where you went to college, you can remember at least one time that your school made the tourney. It was a big deal. So in the years where you aren't in, you're still a fan of the tourney itself. It's a risk if you start cutting a lot of fans out of the process. You start cutting schools out - including great basketball schools - you risk killing a lot of the interest in it. In your model, you're leaving out the '21 champ, the '18 champ, the '16 champ, the '14 champ, the '11 champ, the '08 champ, the '04 champ, etc, etc. That's just the tourney winners. There are a ton of Final Four squads in recent years that get left out under that set-up. "Cinderella" is gone forever. You don't want to turn the billion dollar event NCAA tournament into an oversized conference tournament.6 points

Her speechwriter should handle her tweets. If you could take that picture back in time to Shaggy 5 years ago, the conversation would be: 2021 Surly: Check out this picture of Fitlump and the Austin City Council 2015 Shaggy: Holy fuck, why did security let her get behind the dais and why are those people wearing masks? 2021 Surly: The masks are because we are still in a global pandemic that's been going on since January of 2020. 2021 Surly: She's behind the dais because she's a member of the Austin City Council. 2015 Shaggy: So the pandemic killed almost everybody and Fitlump got drafted to be on the city council? 2021 Surly: No, it only killed a thousand people in Travis County. Fitlump was duly elected. 2015 Shaggy:6 points

I feel like a lot of the angst here could be settled if people just took a deep breath and realized that we have actual football coaches now. Our defensive/offensive coaches (Davis/flood, choate/banks, PK/Sark) teach actual fundamental football and the kids they have coached actually improved. In the past 10 years when in the fuck has that happened? The roster we have currently playing fundamental football is good enough to win a lot of games got damn it. I spend to much time on surly lmao.6 points
