My GF's niece and her class were in the cafeteria at the time and heard gunshots. They ran out of the school and a lady in a house across the street wrangled them in and locked the doors. There was an hour between when we heard the school was on lockdown with an active shooter and the call from my GF's brother that she was ok. Fortunately our tears came from the fact that she made it.42 points

Everyone knows your views about cops, and you’ve made it clear again on, oh, about 10 posts so far in this thread. So why don’t you shut the fuck up now, because it’s pretty apparent that in a thread where 14 elementary aged kids died you only give a fuck about being able to shit-talk cops. You’ve made your point 10 times. We get it. Stop clogging the thread. or even better, why dont you join the force and make a difference yourself since clearly you think LE needs better applicants.33 points

You remember during the Second Intifada the noxious line that the Israelis would trot out--"the Palestinians just don't love their children"? It was in reaction to the various suicide bombings (none of which were perpetuated by actual children, mind you). It was racist and untrue when the Israelis said it of the Palestinians. But it's obvious and true if one were to say it of Americans. We don't restrict guns to prevent children from being murdered in their schools. We don't bother funding those schools to begin with. We don't provide sufficient governmental assistance to ensure that children are clothed, fed, and sheltered. We don't do anything to provide them medical care. Oh, and the Republicans will out-and-out say that immigrant children should be starved to death. Yeah--fuck Americans. They don't love their children.26 points

Oh my sweet summer child. See, you're part of the problem. You see yourself as a good guy with a gun, a responsible hunter. Yet, you often seem unhinged on this site. Can we trust you? To you, Sack, and all the hunters...we get it; you have huge tracts of land. Here's the secret. Hunting is stupid. Deer meat tastes like ass, and it's all an excuse for outdoor drinking. You're adults now; you can drink outside whenever you want. I hunted with dad as a kid then I grew up. Nobody needs a gun. Nobody. Not even hunters. Everyone on here lives in a safe neighborhood. You just have small penises. The second amendment is biggest fraud ever perpetrated by racists that wore powdered wigs. The British penal colony could do it, but we can't because of the sacred document.22 points

I've said it before, but these people, these so-called Christians, don't give a god damn about anybody else's kid unless it's still inside a liberal woman. And they're certainly not gonna give up their big dick toys because a dozen or so of somebody else's kids got shot. These Christians. These horrible fucking so-called Christians and so-called Americans.20 points

Fucking hell. It’s so heartbreaking and infuriating. My youngest has been talking non stop for a week because he gets to go visit his new school elementary school tomorrow (going to kindergarten next year) where his sister is in second grade. They’re both so exited for the summer but all he can do is talk about riding the bus with his sister, asking if she’ll hold his hand for the first day (three months from now), asking if we will pack carrots or if “do they have them there?”, and it’s been so fun to watch him be so innocent and excited. They’re just little kids. Just fuck. And all those NRA fuckheads just a few miles away. Actually deserving targets. (And BL if that comment earns me a break, cool. I’ve been here and tos for years but I’m not as big a voice as the regular crew … so figured I might as well say what I feel on this topic)20 points

I’m sure the massive influx of Thoughts and Prayers we are about to receive from politicians will do the trick this time. Children. Babies. I have a 4 year old and my wife works in a school. I can’t handle this shit anymore.15 points

I’m just venting because I’m furious. The fact is that liberal parents should be screaming about ideas like this. Those school board meetings where the lunatics raged about kids wearing masks during a pandemic that killed 1,000,000 Americans? How it was bad for their psyches? School board meetings should look like that, but with liberals. Because active shooter drills and walls and guards and metal detectors and getting shot actually is pretty fucking bad for a kid’s brain. It’s worse than a mask, for damn sure. A screaming temper tantrum about this is entirely justified. In fact, it’s insane not to throw a temper tantrum over this. But they won’t. Because liberals actually love their kids— and other kids— and since we want them to live, we compromise and accept the bullshit solution that is worse in every way. Worse that everything accept “do nothing.” And also, I am pissed that I just described myself as a “liberal parent” but it is now accurate in today’s America. Because being anything but liberal is also now insane. So fuck you for that, too, GQP.14 points

I fucking hate this country, the place I was born and raised, and the place I live in particular. Fuck Texas. Fuck Oklahoma. Fuck this country. There's nothing else to say anymore. I have no pride in my own identity. I just can't. Anyone making excuses for the gun nutters should be fucking hung from a tree. Abbott should be hit by more cars. He is human garbage.13 points

The Manning recruitment is really interesting now that it boils down to Texas and Georgia. Georgia seems like an obvious choice given the futility of the Texas program for 12 years running now. UGA just won a title, they're loaded with talent, Athens is a great little town, the OC at UGA is well-respected. What's not to like? Apparently no one within the family is in love with Kirby Smart and they're not fully buying in on the OC sticking around. QB has been one of the only spots in which Georgia has struggled to develop NFL players during the Smart era. Everybody likes Sarkisian. Everybody likes his offense. Everybody likes Austin and the Texas brand. Nobody is sure about why Texas can't get it done consistently on the field. At this point, it's almost like the program is cursed and that worries everybody (except Arch Manning and Randle). I think he winds up choosing Texas. I don't know what happens if Seven Loss Steve & the 57's show up in the 2022 season and shit all over themselves again.13 points

Enai White recently put Texas A&M on blast over a threat in regard to his NIL, per a report. White, a four-star defensive end recruit committed to A&M, is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the No. 2-ranked player in the state. As a result, he was invited to participate in the Big 33 Football Classic. The all-star event featuring the top high-school football players in Pennsylvania and Maryland has been played since 1957. However, he recently pulled out of the game ahead of the Memorial Day weekend event. White is no longer on the roster and his spot has been replaced. The reason, per a report from Eric Epler of PennLive.com, had direct correlation to his NIL compensation. According to Epler of PennLive.com, a release from an official with the Pennsylvania High School Football Coaches Association stated why he withdrew. The release said that White was told by Texas A&M not to participate in the Big 33 Football Classic. Likely to avoid injury. And if White did play in the game, he was told that the money associated with his deal would be withheld. Not only would White’s claim that Texas A&M told him not to participate in the game expose the school for potentially using NIL to entice him to Texas A&M, it would completely discredit nearly everything that Jimbo Fisher has ever said about the topic. Either way, White is not playing in the game. Hmmmm.13 points

All of my Uvalde folks, save one who is a sheriff’s deputy, have reported in with safe youngsters. I’m sure the deputy is busy right now and will / may get back to me. His kids go to the elementary school where it happened. One of my Uvalde friends has a friend of his, whom i don’t know, whose wife was shot. I don’t know if it is the grandmother that was killed or the teacher that was transported to the SA area hospital. Plenty of awful to go around for everyone in a small town.12 points

There’s probably at least one parent who dropped their kiddo off after having a rough morning…maybe the kid was dragging their feet, maybe spilled something on their clothes necessitating a change, running late, stressed out, or otherwise left the child at school under less than ideal circumstances. Now their child will never come home. That thought scares the ever living shit out of me. I just want to hug all the kids…adults are supposed to nurture and protect, not endanger them either directly or indirectly by refusing to take serious steps to prevent this. It kills me.12 points

Do you unfailingly vote for the people who do exactly what I said: prevent, at every turn and at all costs, any action, from big to small, that might help prevent this from happening over and over and over and over and over and over? Then you WANT this outcome. Elections have consequences. There are 19 shattered, bloody, tiny consequences sprawled and soaking in their own blood on the floor in Uvalde as we speak. This is what you vote for. Own it. You don’t get to run away from it. Fucking ENOUGH. NONE OF YOU GET TO RUN AWAY FROM YOUR VOTES. You vote for the party that runs on the great replacement theory, fueling mass murders in buffalo, El Paso, and Pittsburgh. You vote for the party that is owned by the NRA and opposes any and all regulation of firearms - fuck, we’ve made it EASIER to sling a gun in Texas, which give us shit like today. Either your vote matters, or it doesn’t. You don’t get to run away from it anymore. Stop. Stop supporting people who help make shit like this and Buffalo happen. Please, stop. Please.11 points

We don’t have national grief. I am sorry, but we don’t. We have intense, agonizing local grief; grief that tears a hole through mothers and fathers and families and towns. But we don’t have national grief. If we had national grief, this would no longer be happening. We had national grief after 9/11. That is the last example of national grief. We didn’t always do the right things, but we did something. We gave up our right to bring nail scissors on planes, because that’s the kind of thing you do with raw grief and pain you never want to feel again. Most of us are OK with feeling this again, because we don’t really feel anything. Giving up a high-capacity magazine would hurt more.11 points

It's not even clear any of these killers had mental illnesses diagnosable on the DSM. But even assuming they did, potentially locking people up for seeking help for themselves or their loved ones wouldn't help anyone, and just prevent people from getting assistance for mental illness. We need to deal with the guns. It's the guns that are the outlier. Every country in the world has mentally ill residents.10 points

I suspect the dash cam footage from the chase is being deleted as we speak. Do you recall the armed police officer who was ON DUTY at the Parkland school shooting; the one who exited the school and hid in the parking lot while the shooter murdered innocent victims inside??? Bernard10 points

What you guys are forgetting is that at least these kids will never have to learn that gay people exist. Sorry, I don't know any way to deal with this other than the darkest humor imaginable. At least not until I get home and can drink myself stupid.10 points

The story seems really weird and I'm sure it will change as it's fog of war type shit right now- but they were talking about shooting at him outside the school and he ran inside to barricade himself. Was the plan always to go fuck up an elementary school or did his interaction with LEO lead him to the elementary school and since he was there with a gun why not? I was just at my kids elementary school yesterday for year end awards for my first and third grader. All their smiling faces. They were all perfectly behaved during the presentation. Got their awards and smiled and beamed and shook the principals hand. I was thinking all day how special it was to see. My kids can be turds but they were just perfectly behaved and proud along with everyone else in the school. Nothing but huge smiles all the way around and I had a great day after seeing that- just all the innocence mixed with pride in accomplishments for a job well done. Then, got the scroll on the bottom right of my computer and immediately wanted to throw up.10 points
