  2. Yeah this happened at my pregnant wife’s hospital where she’s an ICU nurse. (Thankfully she wasn’t working today.) Real nice trash fucking county we have here. Good to know we’re the only place in the world other than cartel states, sub-Saharan Africa or active war zones where this bullshit happens every other fucking day. Big fuck you to the NRA and its army of trash fucking redneck assholes that have turned this country into a gun-worshiping hellacape where you have to worry about your kids getting shot at school or your wife getting shot while she goes about her business helping people at a fucking hospital.

  4. It really boils down to this. When groups have complained about toxic masculinity, it does not mean that men are bad. What it means is that what it means to be a man is in dire need of a cultural shift. When the person on the top is held up as a role model and the person on the bottom is considered an example of libtard "wokeness," (as mentioned before-woke is empathy turned into a pejorative) then we are in serious trouble:

  8. Being a Marine or solider or airman or sailor is awesome and a deeply honorable calling. It is also deeply telling and deeply wack that many of us need to believe that Mr. Rogers was a Marine to also believe he’s worthy of respect.

  10. Super weird to see some people actively rooting for corporations everywhere to force everyone back to their miserable commutes and offices. Our company already brought us back in a couple of months ago and we've already had two people quit to do basically the same thing but for companies that offered full-time remote. I've been at my company about five years and genuinely enjoy what I do, and I've been debating possibly doing the same thing if the right opportunity comes along. Even at the office, 95% of the people I communicate with daily are sitting in offices in Chicago, on the west coast, east coast, and overseas, and we communicate either by IM, email, or phone. There's very little reason for me to drive 45 minutes each way every day for something I could do just as well and efficiently in my home office. And this is just my own personal opinion and I'm obviously not speaking for anyone else, but I would personally choose to work from home even if it meant less money in the long run and the chance of being passed over for a promotion if it meant never having to come into the office again. The money and time you save, the bullshit and annoyances you avoid at the office, as well as the freedom to live anywhere you want is too great to pass up if you have the option. Money isn't everything.

  15. This. It's funny (but not "ha ha" funny) that many of the same folks who decry our "loss of masculinity, it's not safe for men to be men," glom onto the most cartoonish, and actually weakest, shallowest approach. Strength isn't bullying, or overt expressions of power. As any real man will tell you, if shit goes down in a bar and a fight happens, the "strong guy" you have to worry about isn't the bulked up dude who has been bragging and strutting all night, and mouthing off to people. It's the quiet guy at the end of the bar, who has been making polite conversation with the bartender, watching what's going on around him, and thinking about whether anyone is going to need his help. And not "help" in a "I'm gonna be a ninja badass" way, but help in a "I'm going to get you out of here and out of harm's way, and if I have to fight, I'll only do what it takes to neutralize the threat to let us get away" way. There is no trait more masculine than the CHOICE to be kind and human. We have it ass-backwards in our dominant culture.

  22. If authorities feel that he isn't a danger to himself or others, then I don't have a problem with his release. Important to remember that he wasn't found guilty. We're a nation of laws. Patti Davis should argue that Hinckley should never be released but there is a reason that we do not allow crime victims decide the penalty.

  23. Again, it just amazes me seeing these posts from you, Mackelmore, and others that are cheerleading for a lower quality of life for workers. Why? What do you personally benefit from it? Do y'all also root for workers to have higher health insurance deductibles and fewer vacation days? Is it because you're on the back nine of your career/lives and you think that the younger generations shouldn't get something better that y'all didn't get the opportunity to have? Also, the idea that Elon and others suggest when they claim people working from home are "pretending to work" is kind of nonsense, too. If I wasn't working, people would figure it out pretty quick. If you can continue to not do your job and get away with it, you might not have a real job.

  25. Kind of a dumb thing to say, since by definition that stretch would have to include 2005 and 2009. 2009 13-1 2008 12-1 2007 10-3 2006 10-3 2005 13-0 OK, so 10-3 is the bar. Let's keep looking back. 2004 11-1 2003 10-3 2002 11-2 2001 11-2 2000 9-3 OK, we won't count 2000. So it's 9 years, not 5. Oh, look 1995 (10-2). Oh look, 1990 (10-2). "Pure mediocrity at best since 1983." It astounds me how some Texas fans are programmed to understate our own fucking history.

  29. I think you overstate the "alarmist" point of view. Even most of the more "conservative" folks said that the likely end-game of the virus was going to be an endemic, less-harmful disease.....they just emphasized that we were gonna go through a lotta shit to get there. I'd say a million dead is a lotta shit.

  30. But people have options. Shut up and just fucking deal with it is one of those...but probably not one most people are going to choose if commuting to an office a) has no inherent value in their ability to their job and B) makes them less satisfied in their job.

  35. Texas went 52-11 from 2000-2004. That is objectively not mediocre. I know I know, losses to OU, a CCG meltdown and a bad bowl game. Regardless, this was not a mediocre 5-year span.
