A few things: -Regarding Jordan Hall, it's not a pipe dream, so that's one to watch. -Regarding the Safety from Georgia - pipe dream to ignore. -Hicks is going to watch a bunch of freshmen playing all over the DL to ATM this season before he announces at the UA all star game in January. He's also not the type to be excited about being the only standout in a class and he's very NIL educated. I have now gone from pipe dream to believing that Texas is the smart bet. -Gullette's top two are Texas and a distant second of Ohio State. I don't see the guy going to the ATM pool party, but maybe he does. If the recruit had the only say in things, he'd have shut everything down already. -When Greathouse picks Notre Dame, it will be interesting to see if Texas isn't willing to take both Hale and MHP. Seems like they will. -USC is a legitimate threat for Shelby but it's a good sign that he decided to avoid the aggie gathering. Getting pestered on social media to come to it from the likes of Taylor Hamm and his fanboys didn't help ATM's cause. -Shanahan got laughably overranked by Rivals early and his family bought it. If he had a committable offer from Bama, Georgia, or Clemson, he'd be taking it. Interest with Texas is largely one-sided. -Either Texas finds a difference maker at OT that they like or they pass from here on out. The guy from East St. Louis is a legit target with real interest. -Jamarious Brown would be a huge get, but Alabama probably wants him. Not sure the NIL-side will be a differentiator for anyone if Bama pushes. -Guys that I know people can feel good about: MM, Baxter, Hill, MHP, Gullette, Hale. Guys we are not fooling ourselves in following: Hicks, Shelby. Guys that would mean Texas has crushed it in recruiting and is winning on the field: Brown, Hall, East St. Louis, Robinson. Guys I forgot to ask anyone about: Vasek, Toviano, Matthews, Osborne, Akana, whoever else I didn't list. -Fully weaponized NIL initiatives: Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, Miami. NIL programs figuring things out or already fired up but incapable of creating a competitive advantage at the top level: SEC powers, Notre Dame, Louisville, PSU, Michigan, Houston, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Tennessee. ND and Michigan eventually move into the first tier due to alumni power. NIL programs with their heads firmly up their own asses: Texas ATM, Pac 12, Baylor, TCU, Clemson, North Carolina, FSU. NIL Programs that qualify for the X-Files right now: USC, OU.70 points

I can't believe I am saying this but Ketchum had a great point on Arch today. He went and threw at Clemson, Bama, and Texas last year. Every one of those programs dropped what they were doing and solely recruited Arch until they knew for sure they were out of it. Georgia, the defending national champion with a screaming need at QB, went down swinging for Arch. Johntay Cook went to an event to check out Arch and came away raving about him and telling everyone how legit he was and then committed to go play with him. Those things don't scream overrated to me.39 points

There's no way he'd still be invited right? Jimbo wouldn't let a young man come into his home and eat his food and use his possessions for their own pleasure while Jimbo just watches it all. It would just violate Jimbo's relationship. That doesn't seem like something he would do or have experience with.35 points

The Arch Manning talent shading coming from elsewhere and occasionally being hand wrung about here is nauseating, if predictable. There will not be a more mentally prepared QB for the CFB game than this guy. He's charismatic to boot and people want to play with him. He has a fucking cannon. And he's not a tree in the pocket like his uncles or Simms, all of whom were also highly touted and carried the other factors. Does the guy work out for Texas? Hope so, but there are no guarantees. Are there better QB prospects in this cycle or most others? No. Shading the guy for writers is clickbait. And boy, Mike Farrell needs himself some clicks. He's been a craven piece of shit for decades when it comes to his biases and driving a story. Shading the guy for aggies is as common as them breathing through their mouths and insecurely clinging to delusions of grandeur. Shading the guy on this site? It's JAQ'ing off 101.30 points

This board sounds like the group that told me Peyton Manning was going to be average back in the late '90s. I don't believe there's more than one or two college (QB) prospects in history that deserve a 1.000. With that said, Arch is one of the best prospects in the country. Arm strength means very little, as long as you can make all the throws. Don't discount the fact that the Manning's make a concerted effort to throw a catchable ball. It can deceive one's evaluation on arm strength. It's why the uninformed thought Peyton would lose out to Brandon Stewart at Tennessee. It's why these idoit journalists can't evaluate worth a damn. Arch does a lot at an elite level for a high school prospect: 1. He's typically very accurate with the ball while standing in the pocket 2. He progresses through his reads quickly for his age 3. He knows his safety valve and has a timely feel for when to take it 4. He throws receivers open 5. He already has a ton of experience throwing under pressure. It's probably one of the reasons Archie and family let their kids play on that bad team. There's nothing that will get you prepared for the next level like throwing in tight windows under pressure. Most of these highly rated quarterbacks rarely face these conditions. Arch will have four years of repetition at a young age (the younger you learn, the better). 6. His name is Manning and, yes, it matters. A really good high school player with the genes raises the chances of success. Now add to it the importance of knowledge at the QB position. He's had way more schooling than any other player in the country. He's been mentored on things that no coach can give him, especially a high school coach. He already prepares in the film room like a pro quarterback. Some of these kids never even figure out how to study film in college. It's a skill. 7. He scrambles like the Old Man, but his weakness is throwing on the run. He's getting better at it and I expect him to show even more improvement in that category this coming year. 8. The Manning's aren't concerned with championships and gaudy high school numbers. This time in Arch's life is measured by trying to simulate, and gaining experience, under the same duress of a college and pro quarterback. Train the mind to be prepared for all the variables coming his way in the future. It's the only way to strengthen your weaknesses. No better way to do that than play with a bad offensive line. The gaudy numbers will follow when it matters: college and pro. At least that's the plan. Mike Farrell was jizzing in his pants on the thought of Arch Manning reconsidering the Sooners. But now he's with the Longhorns... The whole world is turning into a bunch satyanash. There are people out there who just can't handle good news.28 points

Can you imagine how much money the one recruit who actually attends the pool party is gonna have thrown at him? That guy is gonna have the lowest deductible car insurance policy available in the continental United States!28 points

Holy shit. What a tired-ass "debate". He's a five star QB, the number 1 overall recruit, who has more impact on recruiting than any recruit I can remember. Is he a "perfect" recruit or just a regular old "top QB in the class"? Who gives a shit? Only you chucklefucks could spend 100 posts arguing about whether or not something is THE best ever, or maybe the best ever. Shut the fuck up, drink a beer and look at some tits22 points

God I love the fucking Bijan and Ewers super car shit. It's their big smoking gun that something untoward is happening. We must be cheating, because they have quarter million dollar cars. Nevermind that those cars are almost certainly a lease and, wait for it...there are zero of those kinds of dealerships in College Station. So who the fuck is going to sign their players to a fucking deal? What's actually more amazing to me is that half those motherfuckers don't have leases for trucks with whatever dealerships ARE there. The car lease is easily the most straightforward NIL deal out there, and these guys are shitting themselves that its proof the moon landing was fake. Meanwhile it's LITERALLY the easiest deal for a player and a business to make. You'll be shocked to hear this, but when we were doing research on Texas NIL capabilities, we looked into car dealership saturation. Austin has 50 of them. College Station had 8. Tuscaloosa area had like 10. This isn't some kind of fucking Randy Marsh Cock Magic at play. It's Austin.21 points

I was at some party with my girlfriend that night. Wine and cheese crowd, not a lot of interest in the game (even though I was in Austin). Despite how incredibly frustrating that entire game was, I kept it together pretty well…until that roughing penalty on the punt. Then I completely lost my shit. I erupted, lunging from the couch and screamed some incoherent string of the most offensive words I could come up with. I stopped, looked around and realized everyone in the house was silent and staring at me. I looked at them, yelled “motherfuck!” and left the house and walked the 5 or so miles home. It was not my proudest moment (ok it kinda is). That relationship went south very soon thereafter.15 points

Yes. VY is the best college football player of the last 40 years, and Texas was the best team in CFB in 2008 and got royally fucked out of the title game are two things I will go to my grave believing. I like to think I’m a reasonable person who can be swayed by a solid argument, backed up by data/facts. But good fucking luck convincing me that I’m wrong about this.14 points

update - under contract here in Denver...and ended up with pretty much the opposite of what we initially thought we'd get lol...instead of a giant half-empty house in the suburbs, we got a good-sized townhome in an excellent area much closer to the city center 😄 fyi - surly mortgage/RE connections are aces🤘 this was the first place we looked at...then we looked at about 25 houses in every possible Denver suburb...then came back to look at this place again. the decision came down to this place vs. a gorgeous suburban home that i would have been equally comfortable in but would have been at least a 10-15 minute car ride to most everywhere. ultimately low maintenance and proximity to pretty much everything won out. i guess unlike most, we chose to continue our relatively urban lifestyle in retirement, at least for now. we'll be walking distance (<1 mile) to literally everything (grocery, park, gym, bars/restaurants, etc.). it has a small courtyard instead of a yard. i guess we really do just like the diversity and 'busyness' of city life. i'm pretty excited. 😊 i'll say this...you get a LOT more home for your money in Denver than we did in Austin. the property tax difference is mind-bottling lol, literally hundreds of dollars a month. yeah there's an income tax, but it's relatively low, and even lower for my other half b/c he's 65+. anyways...just a report from a 2-week old Texpat 🙂🤘14 points

And nothing against Houston, but more outages down there could tie up a lot of cops, which is not a bad thing. There’s a gal I’m banging on the side, and we hooked up in Houston this week, and she had this shitty Tahoe that her husband had picked out for her, and she wanted something else…..let’s just saying that making a Tahoe disappear so that she could claim it was stolen and get the insurance money and buy something that’s not a Tahoe is harder than it seems. We ended up basically giving it away to somebody who promised to “make it disappear”. Motherfucker got a free Tahoe and promised to put paper plates on it and get it out of the Houston area and it’s in his best interest to do that, but still.13 points

We had a guy posting here that was AIDS infested, drugging and molesting young boys, and throwing rocks from overpasses putting people's life in danger. We all celebrated him because he fucking hated tow truck companies and was able to keep that shit under wraps for a while. This board doesn't have the best track record when it comes to sniffing out the real fucking deviants among us. But if there is one tell-tale red flag it should be talking shit about tex-mex and breakfast tacos.13 points

Per your request around "money troubles" for last class. My theory: I can certainly see where it would be a huge problem. For instance: I give player Walter Nolan 1/4th of the $750K they supposedly paid him as a yearly "salary". That $187K is then loaded onto a thumb drive, and is essentially 3 bitcoin when BC was trading above $60K. (This ain't NIL after all..) The value of said bitcoin then crashes down to $20K, making the value of the thumb drive worth $60K. Nolan hasn't cashed it in yet, so now he says "Hey, what the fuck? I need 6 more bitcoins." The aggy then says "It was worth $187K when we gave it to you, you should have cashed it then." Nolan says "This is bullshit, you aren't giving me what you promised." And meanwhile, the aggy is out of bitcoins because he did the same thing with 10 other recruits and is still trying to stand firm on what it was worth when it was handed to him. Except now, all 10 recruits are pissed and they have no other way to compensate them because they didn't think that far ahead and they tied their recruiting class to the most volatile investment vehicle on the planet. Their only option is to give them ALL of the bitcoin they had set aside for their college tenure (assuming they did so), but that leaves them bankrupt for any other players this cycle, and also leaves them unable to pay these same kids next year. So now.. all players visiting aggy expect this kind of treatment. None of them are getting it because they can't even afford to pay what they promised to the last class. The last class, in turn, tells the recruits that things aren't working out as promised. Said recruits go elsewhere. FIN13 points

That guy had heard of the legendary Aggie Pool Party. That was enough. But let's go back to the beginning. He knew in his heart that he wanted to be a straight shooter at a school that has an honor code. He grew up wanting to say howdy and whoop. In the wasteland of his life, a cool fresh breeze carried the whisper of Texas A&M University. Pool Party. No money used to recruit. He saw a man in an ATM hat, We Beat Bama Shirt, and flashing a sparkling ring. This man told him of Fish Camp, the fabled fabulousness of College Station apartment swimming pools, and the great tradition of putting a penny at the foot of the Sul Ross statue for good luck. "Good bull!" said the maroon hatted man. Weeping, the young recruit asked, "Where do I sign? You'll make sure that this deal isn't sullied by any payments to me, right?" It was good bull indeed my friends. The manly fellow in the maroon hat then guided the disoriented young man back to his home where the recruit's parents showered them with flowers and chocolates.12 points

The reasons that our state isn't connected to any other state are purely political: to avoid federal oversight and regulation. If we were connected to the rest of the US's grid via interconnects it would help to better utilize our excess renewables rather than burning it on bitcoin farms, and would give our state a lifeline from our neighbors so we don't freeze or cook to death in our homes during increasingly severe weather events. There's no good operational reason to keep our state disconnected and losing out of the benefits of economies of continental scale, except to create a nice little walled garden market for your donors.11 points
