  1. So, this was one of the worst days of my life. took my dad (who has a tbi and really wanted to go and was exited about it) Got stuck in traffic- he shit his pants - I tried to clean him up in the bathroom at the parking garage we got to and there was no garbage can or paper towels, he got the shit from his diaper all over himself and his shorts, refused to go home because he wanted to go to the game- walked around with feces all over his clothes, got him in his seat- went to 4 different shops until I found a pair of sweat shorts, came back up, cleaned him up in the bathroom, threw up, he walked out naked because he got scared I left him in the stall when I said “stay here I need more paper towels” then we got back to our seats and he said let’s go. With 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. the sights and smells and the like will be nightmare fuel (literally) for me that I will dream about for months and years I bet, but the worst part, by far, was seeing him just not get it and not able to handle basics in life or enjoy the game. When we pulled into the driveway he told me sorry for ruining your day. I was like dad- you didn’t ruin anything and I love you. Man’s taken me to at least 100 games and he remembers almost none of it. And my poor mom lives this 24/7. as bad as I guess we played I’m going to take solace in this not being the shit Sandwhich on top of a truly miserable day finishing with a loss. We are basically in survive and advance mode and although we were terrible it probably doesn’t matter. But, we probably have another loss or two coming our way, especially if Quinn is out.

  5. I missed the 8th while getting the kids ready for bed, but was able to see the TV for most of the 9th. Me: OH WOW! They got 2 on and Altuve is coming up to bat!! 4 year old: Is he the good hitter? Me: Yes, a very good hitter! 4 yo: Oh I hope he hits it very good then! ... Me: OH MY GOSH HE DID IT! AGAIN!!! HAHAHA *jumps around excitedly with kid in my arms* 4yo: So the Astros are winning now? Me: Yeah they are up 5-4! 4yo: So the bad guys are losing now? Me: Yes that's right! 4 yo: Oh because he's a very good hitter! Me: YES! 2 year old throughout this exchange: GO ASH-STROS! GO ASH-STROS! GO ASH-STROS! GO ASH-STROS! Fun times, still unbelievable it finished that way. I have a video clip of this I'm gonna save and share it with them when they are older and the Astros are on their way to their 12th World Series.

  6. My threads all suck and last about a day. I know that. I know someone will point out that this might fit on another thread. I don't care. I'm going full TexAgs here and starting a new thread for an unoriginal thought. But, Kicking a field goal is not "settling" for anything. It's scoring three points. Three points often come in handy. After today's ill-advised fake FG, I couldn't stop from doing the math and judging momentum. We'd have been leading at halftime. We'd have had a ten point lead at the end. Houston would have been down 24-0 having failed to stop us from scoring on four possessions. It would be looking hopeless. 28-0 might have seemed a little more hopeless, but the risk was not worth the reward. Sportscasters, very imaginitive people with fine minds, seize on a phrase like "they'll have to settle for the field goal" no matter the context. If some team is inside the five, first and goal, then yes, it is a victory for the defense at that point to prevent a touchdown. It's real tough football and deserves praise. But, even then, the offense still got three points. Points is good. Points early in the game hold untold value for the latest minutes of the game. Sark isn't the only one to do this. Herman's "I hate field goals" was almost as irritating as him letting it be known he was a member of Mensa. KICK THE FIELD GOAL. Your team gets to celebrate. The band plays the fight song. The fans applaud and hug. It's a tactical victory for you. It's a tactical defeat for the defenders. I hope Sark learns. I think he's a great coach with things to learn. We're a team with some weak spots. We need an edge rush. We need a few pieces in the secondary. We need this QB or another one to be more of a killer. I'm guessing we see Ewers here next year. I only hope it's a good thing.

  8. We are 6–1 with the easier half of the schedule on the books. Prior to the season, I thought this was a 9-3 team if we played well. I think we’ll end up 10-2 which will be the best season for us in damn head 14 years. This win sucked but I’ll take it. I’ve suffered enough shitty losses and seasons so I’m going to enjoy the fuck out this win. Hook ‘em.

  9. Posts like this crack me up. Texas almost lost to a really bad football team today. Holgo will likely get fired after this season and they aren’t making a bowl. This would have been an unthinkable loss, especially after being up 21-0 in the 1H.

  10. If its any consolation, I bet at least half a dozen Surly posters (and Sark) did the same. But fuck man, good on ya for taking care of your old man. Seriously.

  11. that spot saved our bacon, but literally on 2 of the massive Houston plays (the 2nd TD and the 50+ yard catch run + PF penalty) Burke was literally held from behind by both hands and then tackled 1 yard from the QB and the only dude in the backfield, no call, and our left edge rusher was being both held, and hands to the face'd which kept us from getting real pressure. BOTH of those plays should have been called back and neither were. so that spot is what makes up for all that bullshit

  13. Why are so many people complaining about Ewers play today? JFC this place is fucking weird. Pretty sure he didn't throw 3 pick sixes to let Houston back in it. He played solid, started out great and didn't get much help. His biggest mistake was trying to take on defenders trying to pick up a first down resulting in him getting hurt and yet so many in here want to burn him at the cross. Get a life pussies.

  19. Flynn’s military service, and especially his terminal rank, brand him among the top evil doers of election liars and insurrectionists. That the military has not sought to discipline him itself unsettles the fuck out of me. It also disturbs that someone can rise to the level of general while having such a flawed understanding of their oath, and of their duty, not to mention their professed religion. His death cannot come soon enough.

  33. UH switched their coverage to concede the underneath throws after we torched them. That has been our struggle for like forever. Old Quinn would've thrown into the teeth of that. This Quinn was taking the underneath throws. The problem was we couldn't consistently run the football during the dry spell. UH shifted their front when they went to the flyover and they were abusing our interior line. Quinn was fine. The throws that he was "missing" were largely intentional throwaways. The guy is pretty accurate, and throws from multiple platforms. Anyone not seeing that is way off. Sark's offense isn't the easiest to run.

  35. Y'all are fucking insane. I'd rather win the B12 and miss the CFP with one loss than play OU for a CFP slot and potentially lose to them twice and have them win the conference a-fucking-gain. Fuck them. I hope they lose every game. We don't need their help to kick the shit out of our remaining schedule, win the B12 and stamp a CFP ticket.

  37. If you’re talking about Hong, yes, we all had a bit of a crush on her. Flash forward to adulthood, and I start going to Hao Q Kitchen off Far West with my kids. I tell her how I recognize her from my undergrad days at Hao Hao, and it’s like I’m instantly one of her favorite customers. We went there a couple times a month, and she eventually memorized our family’s orders. We were regulars for about a decade, and then the pandemic hits, and I get take out maybe once or twice in six months, and then I find out she lost a battle with cancer. I was close to tears when I heard the news. I believe @Brisketexan was also a big fan. Here she is. Anyways, go Texas, fuck Cooger High.
