  1. They love to bring up Jamaal Charles. But the interview where he could barely speak was coming out of HS. Charles is a shy guy, and doesn’t like to talk. He was diagnosed as having learning disabilities as a kid. But has anyone heard him in the past 15 years? It’s night and day. That guy has really overcome a lot of struggles, before and after football. He’s a hero story and they laugh and point fingers. Fucking just the dumbest fucking cruel idiots.

  2. CSB My wife’s great uncle treated JFK after the PT109 rescue in the Pacific. There is a picture of Kennedy with a kitten that appeared in the Saturday Evening Post. That picture is only half of the photo. The kitten was actually the uncle’s and JFK had adopted a puppy. The uncle never responded to requests for permission to use the whole photo so the Post ran with a cropped pic. the photo that ran. the whole photo:

  7. Given all the talk about the Texas defense ... here's a guy who knows something about that. 🙂 (From the coordinator's talk with the media, today.) "Do you have buy-in?? Do you have want-to??" "Yes, coach! I also have stick-to-itiveness!!" 😂 😂 😂 (If they have nothing to do with football ... then why ... I know, I know.) We have the Hero we need! Kanu be another Hero? I'll stop. This one (below) made me lulz :-)))

  8. You're blaming the wrong people. The right has made this a huge issue, and the left is just wanting to protect trans people. You shouldn't criticize the defenders who are reacting to an anti-trans movement. Hold the actual hate filled, fear inducing shit-stirrers accountable.

  17. I expect the 2025 defense to be better for a few reasons. 1) The offense isn’t going to constantly pull a disappearing act and run through a second half streak of turnovers and 3 and outs. The Arizona State game is a classic example of an offense fatiguing its own defense and almost costing the team the ball game. 2) Elite pass rush. Texas can send ballers in waves from the edge or the second level. I am comfortable expecting Hill and Simmons to remain elite and that will enable the entire front to feast. 3) Elite talent on every level. Simmons, Watson, Hill on the front 7. Muhammad and Taaffe behind that. That’s to say nothing of the other guys also being highly regarded for the most part. Where is an actual weakness that isn’t just handwringing? Like I said, if we have all of this stud talent and experience all over the field then it’s either a top 3 defense that puts the fear of God in opposing offenses or what the fuck are we doing here?

  18. So what, you're arguing dems should consign trans people to concentration camps to get along with the hip, hateful youth vote? The problem is that the """trans issue""" is much like the "jew issue" in Nazi Germany. It's fully manufactured to paint a marginalized group as the enemy and "out" group, so that the fascists can marshal their body politik around that beacon. Most republican gripes about trans people don't even actually exist in reality - it's just built up in their heads and reinforced by state media and propaganda. Litterboxes in classrooms, nurses delivering HRT on the sly in school, etc etc. None of it actually happened, but it's moving elections somehow? AND it's the Democrats fault? Please tell me more

  26. Its hard to expect production that we have seen the last 2 years, but I do not see it as an issue. Cuse guy has real upside. Purdue (Brevard) guy seems like someone that can anchor at the LOS, not going to give you much pass rush. It is also very deep. I think it has an above conference average floor and if Maraad Watson (Freshmen AA at Cuse last year) and/or January break out as disruptors it has a chance to be a real strength of the defense.

  31. Starting a thread. We are skipping Columbus because of some serious fuckery that made it make no sense for a large scale event. Home schedule only consists of 6 games this year - Arkansas and TAMU to finish of the season. Tailgates packages will become available soon, you can get a full season for $100 per person. You can pre-buy any single game before the season starts for $25 per person and early bird will be $30 any time in the season. Walk ups are going to be $40 unless they are with a full season pass holder and then they can use your promo code to get in for $25. A season pass will also get you early access and permanently discounted pricing for the away games we are planning to do this year (Gainesville and Athens) Pricing isn't finalized for those, but the season pass will be 25% off, maybe more if the economics work out favorably. We are targeting for away tailgates to be $125-150 per person all inclusive with a food and non alcoholic beverage option for $85 or so. We will have the same spots as the last seasons for home games and larger setups for Arkansas and TAMU. Things are changing slightly and this will not just be the Surly Horns Tailgate - we will change the name to something (open to suggestions), but Surly will be the primary sponsor alongside OnTexasFootball as the media sponsor. We are taking additional sponsors, sponsor packages come with a package of season tickets and you can have swag at the tailgate etc. You will also be able to offer discounted tickets to your customers/associates to get into a tailgate for cheaper. We are already the premier on-campus tailgate outside of Texas Exes, and I expect to continue to grow as we have more regulars and people who plan to attend the watch parties during the games. playback.mp4

  32. Worrying about DT going into the season and then having a couple guys turn into monsters is now a tradition. Ojomo was undersized and Coburn had some... conditioning concerns. Then they went off. Murphy was expected to be a stud, but Sweat tried to eat himself to death. They were the two best DTs in football. Collins was a good third guy who hadn't played up to his potential and Broughton was a decent rotation guy. Then they made a jump. I don't know who, but 2-4 guys will start playing out of their minds.

  34. The guy would have to just decide that he preferred Texas for reasons other than money. Texas isn’t being outbid by Oregon right now. He’s coveted by everyone recruiting him as one of their highest guys on the board regardless of position. Think of him less as a safety and more of a potential wizard. He can cover like a corner and he can see the future like the best safety prospects every 5 years or so - Ed Reed, Earl Thomas, Mathieu, Downs. He’s also a bad ass returner. That comes from someone that graded all of those other guys and sees him in that light and has confirmed where he is on everyone’s boards. If Texas landed him, he’d be 1b to Atkinson’s 1a and, yes, I know that Texas is signing some amazing talent in this class.

  36. We didn’t have cable, but on a moment’s notice, when a friend (who was a Grateful Dead & Drug Taking Enthusiast) needed me to ride along with him from Dallas to Chicago so that his dad would let him take a car (Diesel, NOT Turbo Diesel Mercedes station wagon that topped out at about 62 mph), I said “Sure, I’ll go.” Arrived to Chicago on a Friday to check out the ticket scene a day before the show, then Saturday came and… 1) I saw Ryne Sandburg hit a home run in Wrigley Field followed by… 2) Harry Carey singing “Take Me Out To The Game” followed by… 3) …seeing The Grateful Dead. All on the same day. It was one hell of a Saturday in late July in 1990. R.I.P. Ryne Sandberg R.I.P. Harry Carey R.I.P. Jerry Garcia

  39. I blame my folks for muckin’ up my surname, leavin’ me with a handle that don’t quite fit. My daddy was a tireless, self-made barbecue pitmaster from Austin with a touch of narcolepsy and a fondness for ropin’ steer. My mama was a sixteen-year-old saloon dancer from San Antonio named Callie with boots that could kick up a dust storm. My daddy would chase skirts, he’d knock back whiskey, and he’d spin tall tales like he invented the lasso. Sometimes he’d call pecans lazy, the kind of low-down grumblin’ only a genius or a madman would mutter. My childhood was pure Texas, summers in the valley, ridin’ broncs. In the spring, we’d craft leather chaps. When I was ornery, they’d stuff me in a feed sack and whack me with mesquite branches—pretty standard, really. At twelve, I got my first Bowie knife. At fourteen, a cowgirl named Wanda ceremonially polished my spurs till they gleamed like a West Texas sunset. Ain’t nothin’ like a pair of shinin’ spurs, it’s downright glorious—y’all gotta try it. still, comin’ up with an avatar and name was never my milieu.
