  1. Texas and Oregon put the CFB world on tilt with their respective NIL efforts. Many alumni bases are reacting pragmatically and trying to build something competitive of their own that fits their specific goals and means. Some bases will be able to compete across all sports in an arms race with Oregon and Texas. Ohio State and Michigan. Notre Dame and Penn State. Maybe Georgia. They’ll have to want to do it, of course. There are others like Bama and LSU who will figure out how to be competitive at the top of the elite recruit list every year, but their bases have already blanched at what it is going to take to do it. The price of poker went up. Bag money is dwarfed already. Then you have Oklahoma, USC, and Tennessee. Kansas too, bizarrely, and I’m sure we’ll hear about more, but all of these groups basically just decided to tout made up shit or vapor prospective nonsense. I guess they figure they’ll just figure it out on the fly or are equating some of it to the black market where they’ll say one thing and do another with players and get away with it. It doesn’t work that way when players, parents, handlers and agents can talk openly to whoever the fuck they feel like. So yeah, Addison hadn’t seen a dime as of a few days ago. Barry Switzer just making shit up on behalf of OU might stall some momentum away from them for a bit, but the recruit-side wises up quickly and they’re going to start asking for proof and asking on-campus players for truth. ATM is in a whole different situation. They went full big black bag, tried to mock NIL to recruits as fake shit and got away with that for a spell, and expected to establish themselves as a player in the under the table game for the foreseeable future. In one of the more ironic twists even for the aggies, it appears as though their zeal for coming over the top of accepted norms in the stealth game has caused two major reverberations against them - 1) they accelerated everyone else’s interest in NIL as a means of countering their bag behavior and 2) they have become everyone’s favorite whipping boy in negative recruiting. Fisher and the AD attempting to “I am not a crook!” all of it and pointing fingers elsewhere and making threats hasn’t helped their cause. In the most on-brand aggie maneuver of all time, ATM pulled the NIL bookshelf on top of themselves just as they thought they were getting going.

  4. Arkansas and Pittman wanted Stroh. He may not be ready right away, but he's already shown a willingness to work hard. Could become an absolute monster guard who just beats the shit out of the opposition. I want to see he and Cam Williams on one side just being mean ass motherfuckers.

  5. So I had this kidney tumor taken out in 2018, and they figured they got it all. Then they saw "interesting" little lumps on my right ribcage in another scan. I told them they were silly-- I was play swordfighting (fencing, epee) pretty savagely at the time, and that was the area where you'd get dinged by fancy rebar, ie the blunted swords. Doctors are so silly. Then in late 2020, some other shit came to light, and they found a few random metastasized kidney cells like, near my jaw. Well OK. Turns out that the original tumor, in its final days of the Collapse of the Third Reich of Tumors, had sent devoted cells to hide in Argentina (my ribs) and then a few of those were getting active and spreading like all o'er the place. Googled Stage 4 Kidney Cancer. Google said "Mothafucka you dead." I was surprised but those were Google's actual words. I just went through the motions doing what the doctors said. Pet Scan actually wasn't as bad as I feared-- instead of racks of pulsating tumors, I had some little carpenter bees drilling here and there. That's when I got the Voodoo Juice, ie Keytruda infusions every three weeks, and 6 to 10 mg of Inlyta pills every day. Only been in use for a short time. Expensive as hell, quick go marry a woman with good insurance. The Keytruda acts like a spotlight so my own immune system can spot cancer cells who usually glide about all sneaky, and the pills are like little Berserker Dwarf Warriors that charge through my body's passageways killing cancer plus the occasional regular cell. It's fun. It can have lots of inconvenient side-effects. Not as bad as traditional Chemo, and I luckily haven't gotten every single one at once. Landed on the Shart thread at least once, and in August 2021 my feet swole up so I could barely walk, but it's better at the moment and who cares, those rowdy drugs are murdering cancer. I have been extremely fortunate in the past year and a half. Good results immediately, the big lumps (almost an inch across) became medium lumps, and the small scattered stuff went poof. Then it made them a wee bit smaller, and for months it stayed stable. Hey, can't die from cancer if it's not growing. Then this past June was hell. Had some kind of flu, seemed Covid-y but tests were negative. My ass barely ate, lost 12 pounds. Sodium tanked, did 5 days in the hospital recovering. They figured out that my own immune system had mistakenly taking a bite out of my one adrenal gland, and I was headed towards an "adrenal crisis" where I'd maybe go into a seizure and start flipping around on the floor scaring little kids and stuff. So they got me jacked up on Hydrocortisone tablets, which are cheap and available all over the world. I read Keith Richards' book "Life" and now I live like Keef, purest drugs possible, taken like shifting gears in a car. Kinda fun and I feel 36 instead of 86 (DL says 61.) Oh, and the other thing that my immune system tore into? The remaining cancer. The former "big" one is 8mm across, 1/3 of an inch. Today Doc told me that soon we might experiment with dropping the infusions soon because she thinks my ravenous immune system is now wide awake and tearing into that last bit on its own. Cry havoc and release the immune system of war. So yeah, this thing could stop working. They could find toenail Aids next week or maybe the Alien Baby busts out my gut. But at my last scan, cancer was getting the shit beat out of it. So when you get cancer, this ain't 1950s soap opera cancer. Google don't know shit. Real smart kids are cooking up voodoo magic every year to help you and me. And of course @Nicole44 doesn't have to, but after all the time it took me to type that, it'd be kinda cool if she PMd me a photo or two. For artistic appreciation.

  6. So Rini's vet appointment is Sunday at 10:30 AM. It is no longer fair to her. I am wrapping up some work now, and then I am going to take her on a walk, and we will spend the evening curled up. Then tomorrow, I will try and make it as good of a day for her as I can. Harvey is going to be really upset.

  8. Simple minds need idols to worship. Even outside their religion they bring that approach to everything else. For many of them the flag and the anthem are two of their gods but they'll never admit it. The very concept of worshipping the flag and reflexively hating any protest of the anthem or government should disgust anyone who believes in the actual fundamental ideals of the United States and the freedoms they love to crow about. But they're not smart enough to understand that.

  17. I’ll tell you a little bit about Coach Royal’s impact. My Dad was fortunate enough to play under him from 60-63. He graduated in the Spring of ‘64 and received his “T” ring from Coach Royal. That was a tradition that DKR started shortly after arriving on the 40 Acres. My Dad turned 80 this year and to this day, I’ve never seen him without him wearing his T-Ring. He has a National Championship ring from ‘63 that he wears on occasion, but he never leaves the house without his “T-Ring”! On the inside, it is inscribed “From Coach Royal to Mickey Riggs.” Coach Royal meant that much to my Dad that one day, hopefully not too soon, he will be buried with it. He won’t give it to me or his grandsons, because he earned it! My Dad wasn’t a starter on either side of the ball during his years there. He was just a practice and “scout team” player throughout his years there, while playing mainly special teams. Because of that, he didn’t actually “letter” until his Senior year. Thank you Coach Royal for your impact on my family’s lives! Hook’em!

  18. I think it's worth looking at the guys outside of the Top 200, since it is the big aggy talking point: RB Tre Wisner, DeSoto (Texas) High On3 Consensus: No. 306 #AllGasNoBrakes -He's good, especially as the second RB take. Commitable offers across the SEC (including aggy and OU), kind of surprised the composite is this low. WR Jonah Wilson, Houston (Texas) Dekaney On3 Consensus: No. 260 #AllGasNoBrakes -I'm not sure anyone's super jazzed about it, but Marion's recruited him since he was at Pitt, and he's the bottom-of-the-position-group flyer. Sort of bready, but fine. TE Will Randle, New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman On3 Consensus: No. 512 #AllGasNoBrakes -#ArchMadness TE Spencer Shannon, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei On3 Consensus: No. 654 #AllGasNoBrakes -Big fucking kid. Plays for a powerhouse high school. Kind of a lightweight offer list. Banks locked in on him as soon as Kaiuway's knee blew up, which is a good sign in that we didn't have to drop way down our board. OT Trevor Goosby, Melissa (Texas) High On3 Consensus: No. 469 #AllGasNoBrakes -That ranking's going up. The services are getting really high on him. OT in a very weak in-state year for tackles. IOL Connor Stroh, Frisco (Texas) Wakeland On3 Consensus: No. 492 #AllGasNoBrakes -Big fucking kid. Dropped a lot of weight, prototype Flood OL, good take for what he likes. IOL Andre Cojoe, Mansfield (Texas) Timberview On3 Consensus: No. 742 #AllGasNoBrakes -Big fucking kid and really young. Film is real meh. Probably the breadiest take - give him a couple years in the weight room to see if he grows into his size, and if not the Portal awaits. DL Dylan Spencer, Houston (Texas) C.E. King On3 Consensus: No. 253 #AllGasNoBrakes -Underrated - just had a super quiet recruitment and isn't a camp guy. DL Sydir Mitchell, Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic On3 Consensus: No. 321 #AllGasNoBrakes -Criminally low ranking for a DL who was picking between Bo Davis, Elijah Robinson, and UGA. EDGE Billy Walton, Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff On3 Consensus: No. 716 #AllGasNoBrakes -Low floor, high ceiling. Bready, EXCEPT for his cousin flirting with 5-star status. LB S’Maje Burrell, Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley On3 Consensus: No. 232 #AllGasNoBrakes -See Dylan Spencer LB Liona Lefau, Kahuku (Hawaii) High On3 Consensus: No. 354 #AllGasNoBrakes -Rankings are all over the place on this kid. Choate loves him, fun film, I'm into the take.

  22. Yep, there are several on this board for whom that act of civil disobedience alone is enough for her to be thrown underneath the jailhouse. They wish the US was led by a thug dictator who would jail citizens for non-violent acts of self-expression and protest. Yeah, I just don't get this take. If you're fine with her doing time in the Soviet klink for this because she apparently was dumb enough to take any amount of narcotic or paraphernalia into mother-fucking-Russia, especially as tensions with the West were only increasing, then okay, I get that (even if there's no discount of the possibility that a government like Russia could plant evidence or trump up charges). But folks are still butthurt over African Americans like her kneeling during the national anthem? Give it up. Our constitution and historical notions of free expression and civil disobedience provide for protection, not punishment, of those kinds of civil protests. And again, fuck Baylor.

  26. Sending Nebraska off with that game - they spent the entire off-season hyping that game, Texas was awful, Gilbert beat them by running the ball haha, etc. - and the Case scramble to send the ags off after Texas did absolutely nothing on offense all night…well, those two games will never not be hilarious to me.

  27. I wonder how the aggy bag men are doing right about now Imagine you threw in a pretty sizable chunk of change last year. You didn't drain your savings, but mid five figures is still a lot of money. You worked hard for those insurance commissions and had planned to take the family to Destin. It was well worth the sacrifice to sign the best recruiting class ever. Whoop! A couple months later, your head coach puts on a very public show to say you don't exist and your contribution did not influence the class. You didn't do it for recognition though. And who does Nick Saban think he is?? He's just scared of what we're building in aggieland. Then, your most hated rival gets hot on the trail. They get some three star that's overrated because of his name and a bunch of your targets commit to follow him. It makes no football sense. They went 5-7! You want some good news so you turn on the Billy Liucci show to hear about the upcoming pool party. He's lamenting other schools for paying recruits. You open texags, get your daily rundown of politics, and go to the football board to find the entire fanbase mad at you. "We're behind on NIL! Our BMDs better step up," they say. Admittedly, some of the comments hurt a bit. You could have been drinking bud light lime on a beach that's even nicer than Port A. It's ok. You trust Jimbo. It's getting late, but you delay your nightly routine to look over your budget and your commission benchmarks. Now that you're a manager it'll take two less years to save a bag compared to last time. Then back to the usual - yell at the kids to go to bed, wife says no, polish the aggie ring, and tuck it into the maroon covers. Goodnight. I'd imagine that kinda sucks
