Donald Trump 2020

Of the 138924574320 things to focus on this horrible president about, this is pretty much dead last.  Who gives a shit.

Besides his own insults towards other candidates’ health and that of people with disabilities, he also compels government employees to lie about his health. But #733 in scandals of the year.

People that set up their “big” surprises like this piss me off. If you have something, put it out there. It’s just like when the Mueller report was being written. Oh big things are coming!  Big things!  And then he just pooped his pampers and let Barr give us the finger.

"Yes,” I said. “Isn’t it pretty to think so?”

So everything was shut down for a few months. Now people have gone back to work so let's brag about unemployment numbers going down. Stores are open again so people can buy things, so let's brag about retail sales shooting up. And the GOP says, see he's the greatest potus ever.

The other problem with this is that this president has so much horrifying shit in his background that we all suspect, but don't know for sure.  When Rick Wilson puts something like this out there and builds it up, if the end result isn't proof of dotard fucking little kids or raping his daughter or murdering puppies, it falls flat.

This is also a problem.  There's genuinely nothing horrifying about Trump that even moves the needle anymore.  He called Putin and told him the nuclear codes?  Of course he did.  He tried to put up the entire state of California as collateral for another loan from Russian loan sharks?  Makes sense.  He has actually fucked Ivanka?  We expected that.  Trump shell companies got $100 million in PPP cash?  Only $100 million?  We thought it would be more.  Etc.

Seriously, I can't really think of anything that would both shock me and cause his supporters to take a moment of pause (before they inevitably brush it off and scream both sides!).

He and Clinton are in a sexual relationship.  Not saying which one.

How's that?

Rick Wilson's problem is he's targeting his material at either the fool's errand of changing the minds of Trumpers before Election Day (I don't see any of them switching to Biden, but I could see maybe some truly horrific news maybe beating down 2-3% of them into just staying home with zapped enthusiasm) -OR- he's thinking this shit is such a bombshell that it mobilizes 5% more than usual of the 80mm that don't vote into getting out there to stop Trump.  I guess the play is beat down just enough Trumpkins is just enough states that the few of them that throw their hands up and stay home, and let Biden stir up 5% of typical non-voters into coming out, and it's a solid EC win.

But then I watched videos this morning of that Bethel, Ohio protest where typical Trump voters assault BLM supporters (who were White, btw) and then chase down a little girl who had a peaceful protest sign and intimidate the shit out of her.  And I think there's no way a single one of them is staying home.  If they have the passion to stay out for multi-hour anti-protests against peaceful BLM folks, then they are sure as shit making it out to the polls.  Nobody is veering from Team Trump right now, it's going to simply be a question of can y'all's party convince 5% of the 80mm non-voters to come on out to play?  That's all that matters.  Trying to convince Trumpers at this point is beyond a waste of time.  But I guess there's the tertiary play of, poke enough fun at Trump and he does stupid shit.  But we're now in an environment where you poke enough fun at his followers, and they'll lash out and do stupid shit.  We have truly crossed the Rubicon.

One anecdote I'll put out there is that my buddy's in-laws, who live in Georgia, told him that they don't like the dotard, but they feel they have no choice but to vote for him again.  I think it stems purely from a monetary standpoint, as they are well off and are fed a steady diet of Fox News.  My point is, there are some Rs that know the dotard is horrible, but they have convinced themselves the Dems are somehow even worse.

fair point. I acknowledge it would not make a compelling tv ad but something along the lines...to at least convince that 10-20% of trumpers who only voted for him for economic reasons, commercial, "We're not doing our socialist shit this cycle.  Biden is not Sanders or Warren.  We may bother you again with this crap four years from now.  But right now, it's just get the ship back on course.  We may have to do some reworking of the numbers and tax law for some folks, but overall...it's gonna basically be business as usual while we get the country's shit together.  Just hang tight with us for four years, it'll blow by like 'that'.  We get back to our usual philosophical battles in 2024.  We gotta get through Covid-19 and justice/civil rights reform anyway, no matter who is in office, before we get back to making cash money the priority again.  Just work with me briefly, we'll be benign as shit gets sorted out.  Fuck it, take it out on us in the 2022 midterms again.  Our biggest worry is the violence that will be visited upon America by the truly disaffected Trump supporters.  We gotta get that bandaid ripped off, too.  But we're America.  We can do it.  (this message was paid for people who can read good)."

Yeah, my mom said something similar, except she's not at the well off level.  She didn't want to speak to his dark side because they all have dark sides.  You just have to have faith in your choices.  This was all in response to her telling me DOTARD was trying to bring the country together.  My response was how is he bringing the country together by rallying around the Confederate flag?  She basically admitted to just trolling at that point.  Which is great to hear that your mother is a troll and doesn't believe the shit she's selling for others but just has faith.  Faith in what--he's a speaker for the nation and has us on the brink of a civil war?  Meanwhile, a bunch of apathetic losers couldn't be bothered with voting since both sides.  Guess they may soon get that choice regardless.

If this phenomenon is still unclear to anyone, see Onboard and others' undying belief that Hillary Clinton still would have been worse than Trump after nearly 4 years of data demolishing that position. It's not about logic. It's about anger, fear, and an unwillingness or inability to admit errors - which by the way happens to be one of Dotus' fundamental characteristics as well. The thought metastasizes to the brain and there's no curing some folks.

It's almost assuredly going to be a new ad and that's it.  It will be well produced and awesome and organize some of the arguments against Trump.  But doubt it's going to be a bombshell with any new information.
