Is this the beginning of the end for Sessions and Rosenstein... and after that Mueller?  If Trump officially requests that they investigate and they refuse there's no way he doesn't fire them. He'll put in someone (read Rudy) who will get rid of Mueller.

He's waited too long. Now it won't matter if any of them get fired.

I thought this article was well done as a summary of what's going on.  The trump saga is like a huge amusement park with big stories spread out theme style.  But there is are certainly common threads that run through the park.  I wish I had the creativity of putting it on a map like the old Six Flag maps.

This is a sampler of the writing.  The site deserves the clicks, imo.

Donald Trump Really Shouldn't Have Run for President

Quote

After such a wild and wooly week in Washington, it behooves me to ask an all-important yet oft-ignored question: Why would a man run for president when the skeletons in his closet are so numerous they have their own union? It is hardly a secret that Donald J. Trump is the premier grifter of the late 20th and early 21st century, the moral inheritor of Charles Ponzi, Marc Drier and Bernie Madoff. In the words of columnist Paul Madoff:

He may well be the single most corrupt major business figure in the United States of America. He ran scams like Trump University to con struggling people out of their money. He lent his name to pyramid schemes. He bankrupted casinos and still somehow made millions while others were left holding the bag. He refused to pay vendors. He exploited foreign workers. He used illegal labor. He discriminated against African-American renters. He violated antitrust laws. He did business with the mob and with Eastern European kleptocrats. His properties became the go-to vehicle for Russian oligarchs and mobsters to launder their money.

This is true to an extent. The critical bloc of pissed off voters that everyone keeps forgetting about are the working poor in the rust belt. The people that Michael Moore referred to as "human molotov cocktails" looking to lash out against the system they believe fucked them over.

As long as the opposition continues to talk down to these group of voters they will continue to be the golden ticket to the electoral college for Trumpism.

I would like to know when they are being talked down to. Seems like that’s bullshit drummed up by Fox News to anger them. When is all that happening? It also isn’t condescension to say, hey you’re being fooled by a con man. Snap out of it.

Every time they are called pieces of shit or whatever people call the Trump supporters. There are examples all over this thread.

The Trump supporters should not be scorned. They should all receive Participation Trophies in lieu of challenging their beliefs and speaking the truth about what their idiocy will cost this country.

There actually are levels in the real world. Some deserve contempt whether it hurts their little feelings or not.

What this post presupposes, is that the American people shouldn't be given the choice between a shit sandwich and a douche nozzle, and told that they should have picked the douche nozzle.

Our political systems are broken. We need radical change. And probably blood in the streets. Buckle up, its just a matter of time.

Or we could just compare him to the president that actually did use the postal service to stifle free speech (Woodrow Wilson).

The comparisons between Trump and Wilson are quite strong.

America has a long tradition of being dynamic and able to adapt to the changing world. I don't understand end of world types who want some type of revolution instead of sensible reform. I don't believe it would take much to end political gridlock, reduce corruption / nepotism, or other political ills.

I not so secretly believe that the revolution types are the same who have a bunker and take those bs survival classes so they are not expecting the world to end but hoping it does so they can say told you so for all their crazy beliefs.

You're probably right. However what do you in a democracy when your vote is not counted for a variety of systemic pseudo technical reasons, and most probably switched in the shadows by the rich, powerful and immoral? What do you do when Putin and Saudi Princes and Erik Prince steal your vote?

Hillary won by 3 million votes and probably more. And yet the loser, numerically, reigns supreme.

America is upside down. Guns kill kids. And for some ungodly reason, we can't do anything to stop it, but blame the kids.

I think the FBI is "the revolution". They're the best defense we got against tyranny.

And that's why Trump is at war with them. He is a tyrant. The FBI MUST win. And it's obvious to everyone they already deem him guilty. Because he is. Guiliani might not know he's guilty, but Trump does. He knows he's guilty. He's behaving exactly as Nixon did about this point in Watergate. What Trump is involved in is worse than Watergate.

And after Trump goes down, the solution thereafter is women in charge.

It worked for England and Germany.

Love it. Mueller has fucking nothing. Obama's DOJ was spying on Trump just like he did on any reporter that didn't perform immediate fellatio on his ego. The DOJ/FBI/CIA are about to be given an enema. Most of you fuckers would be cheering your asses off if it was anyone but Trump lifting the skirt of the American spying apparatus.

This is too stupid/ironic to merit a serious response.

That brother worked with Manafort and failed to disclose lobbying on behalf of foreign governments, which his former firm since amended their FARA registration about ECMU(Ukraine). I suspect he informed against Manafort to keep from being indicted? Anyway, Trump seems to be saying that he'll take down others on the Democratic party side that played the same game too. And I'm fine with that.

Me too but they've been investigating the Clinton's for 30+ years.  As Sessions said, there's no there there.

this has been spoken many different ways and it always gets omitted because it doesn't help the Republican cause.  Democrats should take a page from the NRA and Republican propaganda play book and chant this every chance they get with the media.

you think america needs a revolution and bloodshed because a 71 year old populist with no political organization is potus and he says things that offend the dignity of his office?  what is the imminent threat here?  he can't even find an a-g to do his bidding and you think he's a threat to your republic?

he's the least dangerous potus you've had in a long time.  this too shall pass.

now the "resistance" otoh, is ripe for the hijacking by just the kind of person you claim to fear.

A woman named Karen Vaughn, whose son was KIA in Afghanistan in 2011, wrote this.  It has been pasted by several of my relatives on FB in the last couple of weeks.  If you want insight into how some people can still believe in Trump, read this:

Comment from KAREN VAUGHN Mother of Aaron Vaughn, Navy Seal

“Sometimes God uses the no-nonsense, salty sailor to get the job done. Appreciating what the man is doing doesn’t mean we worship the salty sailor or even desire to be like the salty sailor. It doesn’t even mean God admires the salty sailor. Maybe He just knows he’s necessary for such a time as this.

I believe with all my heart that God placed that salty sailor in the White House and gave this nation one more chance in November 2016. Donald Trump is what he is. He is still the man he was before the election. And without guilt, I very much admire what that salty sailor is accomplishing.

He’s not like me. That’s okay with me. I don’t want to be like him. I will never behave like him. I know we’ve NEVER had a man like him lead our nation. It’s crazy and a little mind blowing at times. But I can’t help admire the ability he has to act with his heart rather than a calculated, PC, think tank-screened, carefully edited script. I still believe that is WHY he became our President and WHY he’s been able to handle a landslide of adversity and STILL pass unprecedented amounts of good legislation for our country AND do great works for MANY other nations, including Israel.

I’m THRILLED with what he’s doing for my nation, for the cause of Christ (whether intentional or unintentional, doesn’t matter to me), and for the concept of rebuilding America and putting her FIRST. I will not be ashamed of my position because others don’t see him through the same lens.

Should it matter to me if a fireman drops an f-bomb while he’s pulling me from a burning building? Would I really care about what came out of his mouth in those moments? Heck no! I’d CARE about what he was DOING. He wasn’t sent there to save my soul and I’m not looking to him for spiritual guidance. All I’m thinking in those moments is, “Thank you, Jesus, for sending the fireman.”

This man is crass. Okay. He’s not careful with what he says Okay. You feel offended that he’s not a typical statesman. Okay. But he is rebuilding the nation my son died for…the nation I feared was on a fast track to becoming a hopeless cause. Forgive me if I’m smiling.”

Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of what all legislation he has passed?  Other than the tax cut bill, I can't think of hardly anything he's done that wasn't by executive action.  His presidency, at least to me, appears to be set to be erased by the stroke of the pen by the next D president that comes along, the same as he's doing to Obama.

And the apologies for this dudes behavior are so pathetic and sad. Yeah trump may have raped your daughter but look at all the legislation that got passed and plus he denies it anyway, all 22 of them. They probably were Hillary plants and are lyin to get money from this great honorable man. Trump only rapes porn stars. Who cares about them? They’re asking for it anyway.  Plus it’s not really rape anyway. They wanted him.

What she's too fucking stupid to realize is that the salty sailor is (1) lying about all of his "accomplishments" and (2) fucking her sister and giving her 4 different strains of the clap he picked up on shore leave in the Philippines.

And to make it worse, the only "accomplishments" they're proud of are.....he's told all the mexicans and mooslems "fuck you!"  Wonderful.  Epic achievement.

Oh, and I loved the fireman analogy.   How fucking stupid can you be?  Let's go with that -- if there were an actual burning building wiht Trump inside, the ONLY thing I can guarantee you is that he would shove EVERYONE aside so he could be the first out.  Fuck, he'd grab a handicapped gal out of her wheelchair and use her as a flame shield if he thought it would help.  Then, after the fact, he would of course (1) lie and say he was so brave and saved everyone inside, and (2) the fucking moron Trumpkins would believe every single word of it.  And if there were video to the contrary, they'd say "BENGHAZI!"
