Don't sumlin up the prime thread that teeters on being cloak'd. Let's keep it confined to drama, nonsensical hype, hubris, dearth of toes, gaudy merch, middle-aged idolatry and tabloid jiz. A page full of career sumlin stats would be unconscionable.

Only cloaking in his prized recruiting he wants to play for someone that looks like him

agreed.  Tomlin is damn good.  He did take over a pretty decent situation from Cowher, which speaks to the organization strength.  He's right at the average win percentage for the Steelers overall.  If I only looked like him he might be my favorite coach, because that is apparently important.
Correction, he used to be damn good. Steelers are now nothing more than the Dallas Cowboys, just in a more recent unfolding of it. They had their prime years under Tomlin. Won a ring and went to another. Since that Super Bowl loss against GB, they've won just a handful of playoff games. I think 2 came in the same year in 2016 season.

The 3 years prior to Tomlinson arrival they won 34 games and a Super Bowl.

In his first 4 years, they were 1-1 in the Super Bowl. In the 13 seasons since, he’s won 3 playoff games I believe.

He’s never drafted a QB that has succeeded under him. The one he had was developed by someone’s staff.

In the past 5 years, they’ve given up 90 points in their two playoff games/losses. The playoff game prior to that they gave up 45 points.

There is a question about how much of that early success was carryover.

He currently has as many wins as Jeff Fisher, 3 more than McCarthy. He’s got as many Super Bowls as Switzer - both victories in their 2nd years.

The rig12 will probably give 3 or 4 games to Deion for the hype and storyline.

Then they maybe make the new 12 team playoffs and get CRUSHED by a real playoff team with no refball.

They aren't going to make a bowl game next year if Deion doesn't do some serious work in the portal.

Gonna be funny to watch "Buffs" become "the most hated team" by other B12 teams.

Toad and red raider fans are gonna really spew their frustrations and vitriol towards Colorado and Deion.

They are going to go full heel and lean into it like they have been. Anyone who doesn’t buy into Deion and portal to Colorado is a racist!

Is this OL portal strategy going to work?

Continuity and experience help a lot on OL

They are getting the second part

I’d ignore the stars on guys that are 2-3 years in they can be completely different players depending on development.

They're also getting a lot of dudes who suck. It's the same shit as last year. Super top heavy and then a bunch of dickwads that wouldn't crack a two deep for a top 25 team, hence them transferring in the first place. If Tyler Johnson is one of your prized transfers, you are fucked heinously.

I don’t think people understand how much the portal has changed the game. You can totally portal your way to 7+ wins now. Will your program have a solid foundation for future success? No. But if your goal is one good year it’s totally doable. See 2021 Michigan St

Michigan State isn't a good example. They had first mover advantage in a flat-footed market. The best example of what a full roster flip looks like is the literal subject matter of this thread. Colorado attempted it. It didn't go well beyond the hype. Doing it for a second season wouldn't go well either. Entire offensive lines being built on the fly with a mediocre hodgepodge of blemished takes from the portal and a recruit or two is virtually a guarantee for OL disaster.

Pointing to 2021 as a way forward for 2024 programs is one spicy hawt take, even for you.

2023 portal team rankings by # of transfers

  • SMU won 7 games last year, so not like they were bad the prior year
  • Louisville won 8 games last year
  • Ole Miss won 8 games last year

on the other end:

  • Colorado won 1 game last year --> 4 this year
  • Arizona St won 3 games last year --> 3 this year
  • Indiana won 4 games last year --> 3 this year
  • Cincy won 9 games last year --> 3 this year
  • BYU won 8 games last year --> 5 this year
  • Auburn won 5 games last year --> 6 this year
  • Cal won 4 games last year --> 6 this year
  • Houston won 8 games last year --> 4 this year

outside of that, taking a bunch of transfers seems to be a quick way to be pretty shit.

Mike Tomlin benefits from the stability of the Steelers org. I know i know he doesn't have a QB. But he is inept when it comes to offense. It's a glaring issue. Meanwhile the guy in Indianapolis is winning with Minshew. Josh Dobbs walked into Minnesota without knowing the playbook and had a better game than any Steelers QB has had in a while, certainly this year. As the HC, the pathetic state of their offense is on him.

Don’t forget, Dobbs was also a Steeler.

Not sure why TXST doesn't show up in ALL on that graphic, but we had 39 transfers and went from 4 to 7 wins.  Not like we just had a little dip in W/L, either - it was an absolute shit roster through and through.

Good thing you don't hate Prime. You'd spend even more time in here. We will see.

"He kicked kids from a 1 win team off.  They sucked anyway!"

Here's how many games the teams those transfers won this year:

3-9 Cincinnati
3-9 Indiana
3-9 UTEP
9-3 NC State
4-8 Houston
3-9 UConn
