You didn't read the article.  It specifically outlined two sub-accounts per individual/couple/household/whatever, one transactional, one reserve, the latter of which would receive a higher interest rate in a  situation in which the Fed wants to contract money supply by reducing the transactional deposits.

She is not proposing that the government take your money.

They would debit your FedAccount. That is removing money from it. This isn’t complicated.

Did you watch the video? She explicitly talks about the political feasibility of the Fed taking money out of people’s accounts.

Not permanently.  You missed the "higher interest rate" part of the equation.  The primary goal is to take money out of circulation, via the shift from transactional availability to reserve availablity.

Again, I'm not advocating for or against the idea, but it needs a WHOLE lot more information to even be judged . . . as in, real processes and projections.  As it stands, it's an academic theory that is a long way from implementation, regardless of her position in the government.

I don’t think I need more info. A policy that involves concentration of all the cash of Americans into Fed accounts where they can be debited is a nonstarter. I don’t care what high interest they claim will be offered. That is central planning on steroids. No surprise that a communist is proposing it.

If you read the paper he is citing, there is nothing other than a few references to "debiting" a FedAccount and none that say money is being taken from depositors, certainly not permanently.  It appears to be the typical theoretical bullshit that does not drill down into details, but let's not let that stop the right wing from interpreting certain sections in the manner most suited to advance their agenda.

She's not, of course.

There are many out there who do not understand the role of independent central banks as regulators of banks and their efforts to streamline the banking system.

Many are stuck on Andrew Jackson-like notions of central banks straight out of the 1830's using assumptions from that time that no longer exist in reality.

Jackson, of course, was an American Nationalist first. He lived in a day when the dollar was not the dominant world reserve currency, so Jackson's views on central banks are inapposite to our dominant Federal Reserve System with its strong dollar. Jackson was worried about our weakness to foreign central banks in the 1830's. Jackson, an American Nationalist, would cheer on our dominant reserve currency.

Whenever they don't know something, they just screech "Commie" or "Socialism" to obscure ignorance. Rather than taking the time to check the credibility of their assertions, they toss Commie or Socialist on the wall and find out if it sticks with their mindless drones. It's always the fallback - because we have too many gullible rubes who get stuck in the terminology.

Spoiler

For instance, many in this small subset have no idea that China is now a capitalist economy or that our subsidies to farms and the defense industry are pure socialism. (We have a Mixed Economy; China utilizes State Capitalism).

Classical concepts like liberalism and liberal (freedom from government interference) confuse them, because everyone around them has always said "liberals are evil."

Delayed gratification to better understand the credibility of their beliefs is not in their arsenal. They think it; they believe it. Intellectual curiosity never got the best of them because they don't care to know whether a feeling is reality or not.  (nihilism and communicable dissociative disorder).

I am not speaking of anyone on this board. It's a national problem.

Ignore is your friend

I rarely neg GRUHorn anymore because even if you crowdban him he just comes right back with a new handle. Would’ve thought you couldn’t do that but hey, it’s not my board.

Plus he’s gotta pay for his crappy apartment somehow. Probably behind on his child support as well.

While I share her concerns about socializing losses in bailouts, her proposed solution involves a massive new bureaucratic apparatus and includes potential nationalization of industries via “Golden shares”. These “golden shares” can be elevated to the manager of last resort in “crises” and the government can essentially assume the means of production in various industries.

Outside of that the National Investment Authority is just another central planner’s wet dream where funds will be continuously directed for leftist preferred projects. I’m sure it would be incredibly efficient and in no way corrupt or a “grift” as is favored term here now.

Yes, most of the attacks seem to be directed at her academic writings. Which is a red herring since the papers are not related to the role of her appointment.

She does swim in the MMT lane which is deserving of skepticism but even that would be unrelated to her role. What is interesting is her work on regulation which I suspect is the biggest reason for the smear campaign being used against her. Regulation would fall into her role but the attacks against her have nothing to do with regulation.

I suspect being vocally anti-bank regulation doesn't work as well when you are trying to be the party of the working man.

I wouldn’t call it massive. Republicans net a few EVs in hard red states vs hard blue states. It still comes down to swing states. The fundamental landscape hasn’t changed much.

2024 results with new Electoral College Map, losing GA and PA, Biden loses 270-268 with all other states being equal - even though VA seems to be in play

The rules will never apply to these elites making them. They’re going to have large carbon footprints with their jets and mansions. They’re not going to eat these man made alternative proteins or bugs that they’re trying to normalize in the name of the environment.

There has been nothing more enjoyable than reading the wild screeching from the microwave generation about how Joe Biden can’t get anything passed to how he can’t win the primary.

As the Dems stand on the precipice of completing Biden’s legislative trifecta, the prevailing narrative on CNN is Biden as senile codger who is hemorrhaging support because of his cognitive decline.

Anyone got a brine recipe for soybean turkey?

chipotle pepper, black pepper, chili powder, sugar, cilantro, 5% brine, cut in two and put each piece in a large freezer bag with half a bottle of liquid smoke.  roast in large metal turkey pan, covered in a mixture of stubbs and cattlemans sauce at 225 for 5 hours.

Christmas, guns, jobs, suburbs, meat,

Not really, you would fucking love to, I mean kind of, not really, it’s on the list.

Remember on the energy transition thread one of the bullet points was the need to alter food production for the environment. You even pronounced predictably how there were some tasty man made protein options.

Please believe that if the elites can sell that to the global population then they will still be eating real meat and protein and Mr and Mrs NeonMoon will be enjoyed their tofurkey Bob Cratchit style.

In any event, here’s Joe Biden’s America. I wonder if a R was in office would there be such helpful segments explaining how to get by?
