Thanks.  Yeah, BK seems to currently run a more ball control, methodical type offense like Iowa State under Matt Campbell -- But with his current roster and talent level, that might be the best strategy.

Wonder how BK might adjust his offenses with more talent??

He ran a wide open spread passing game at Cincinnati.

I posted this tweet in the Urban thread. It doesn’t mean anything necessarily. But I question whether BK would leave ND. I like him fine and if that’s who we get if UM is a No I will be happy. Not ecstatic but happy.

He's not going to say "I'm not too worried about hiring a DC because I might not be here in a week."

I really don't want BK...

He definitely has his warts, but what realistic target would you actually want over him?  The only guy I find to be at all comparable is Campbell, and he has his own set of issues/questions.  But lets say Campbell's not interested and your options are 1) BK, 2) Herman coming back, or 3) anyone else who's name doesn't rhyme with bourbon fire, which one would you pick?

Thanks.  Still have concerns that BK's offenses lack explosiveness -- although trying to outscore Blinkin's teams is a formula for failure.

But watching what Clemson just did to Notre Dame in the ACC Championship game really concerns me -- worried it's a preview of a BK coached TEXAS team against Blinkin' and blOU.  Hope I'm wrong -- Fuck 2020 !!!

Found this source on Notre Dame NFL Draft Picks...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Notre_Dame_Fighting_Irish_in_the_NFL_Draft#:~:text=Selections Year , Carolina Panthers 38 more rows

He's had 3 top 10 offenses in the past 5 year, so his offense in general isn't that much of a concern, but he does have a bad history of getting completely shut down when he faces elite defenses.  He did put up 40 in regulation on Clemson this year, but that seems to be the outlier.  It's strange. He was running a hyper fast-paced and innovative spread offense at Cincinnati that were some of the best in the nation but then got way more conservative at ND.  I definitely think he needs to open it up more if he wants to ever win a title at ND or elsewhere, and hopefully he'd be open to that since he had so much success with a cutting edge offense previously in his career.  If he came to Texas, he'd have two very dynamic runners at QB with Thompson and Card so hopefully that would lead him to open the offense up more.

QB has been the major limiting factor in his offenses at ND. He's had good OL, WR, and RBs. That may be why he's had more conservative approaches. I have a feeling that would change if he had more QB talent which would be highly likely given all the HS QB talent to recruit in Texas.

Im still intrigued by Sark.  I would want to get a good gage on BKs motivation level.  Assuming BK still has some fire, it would be him and then Sark a close second.   I don’t give a shit that he was .500 at Washington and fell off the wagon at USC.  He has the offensive mind to win our league and is young and probably really hungry.  I can see Saban handing him the keys in a couple of years.

Sark is only good because of Mac Jones, Najee Harris, and Devonta Smith. His body of work at UW and USC is unimpressive.

If you wanted a gifted offensive mind just hire Mike Leach and be done with it.

Mike Leach at Texas would be such an abject disaster it'd actually be hilarious to watch

I would take Mike Leach as offensive coordinator, Muschamp as defensive coordinator and pay them each 4.5million per year and hire CTJ as head coach at $500K per year.

AS @closetojumping mentioned that there is talk of BK with Muschamp as DC...consider my jimmies rustled at the thought of that

Is it bad if I would prefer Ash to Muschamp? The league is quite a bit different from when Boom was here the first time, and Ash’s system worked surprisingly well towards the end of the year.

that being said, BK+Muschamp >>>> another year of Herman

Wow. It looks like they're hearing parts of the same shit people are hearing at Texas. The Muschamp element has been floated since Lea took the Vandy job. He'd happily come back to Texas and folks at Texas would be happy to have him. There are a lot of little things that are either coincidental, which I don't personally believe in, or there are legitimate legs to the BK to Austin scenario. Anyone know who Muschamp's agent is?

Think it was Gerry Hamilton who mentioned Muschamp has a son in high school that plays QB and would want to go to a place with good programs in the area. There are a few in Austin area to pick from.

The Pirate is better than Herman and can beat OU. Look what he did at Wazzu - turned them into a 10 win team and made Gardner Minshew a starting NFL QB

Who would Leach hire? Muschamp as DC? On offense, he likes proteges. Maybe he could lock up Adam James?

I think muschamp would kill leach if they had to work together.  Or at least Buddy Ryan him on the sideline.

Listen, I am no GreenspointTexas, but I'd need more than that to take the Texas job, given that it would undoubtedly also kill me before I get close to 50 YO.

Here are some things to think about regarding the purported buzz with WM and Notre Dame, and also things to think about regarding WM returning to Austin.

1) Muschamp and his wife hate cold weather. He's not moving his son to South Bend for his final 3 years of HS.

2) Muschamp does not have any burning needs for money right now or ever again. He wants to coach again, and he wants to be a DC doing it, so it will have to be the right gig.

3) Muschamp and his wife Carol love Austin and loved their time at Texas. His wife still visits regularly and stays with friends.

4) Muschamp and Kelly don't know each other.

5) Muschamp knew how to defend great Big 12 offenses and would be a stud DC hire.

6) He was an animal of a recruiter and still enjoys it.

7) He'd undoubtedly bring Corey Raymond if he was hired at Texas and would likely keep Hutzler. They know how to evaluate, recruit, and "get things done" on the recruiting front these days, and Texas is in a new era of CFB and needs to get better at the GTD part, asap.

8 ) Anyone judging Muschamp as a recruiter or DC and finding him short is showing their true dipshittery. Did he take Tariq Allen and Patrick Nwokpura when he got to Austin? Yes. They needed bodies and LBs weren't climbing over themselves to come to Texas at the time. He also played a key role in landing damned near every big name that Texas pulled during his time here.

If he did Bring Raymond I wonder if that would open the door more at North Shore

WTF are you talking about?  Rumlin has barely ever been an OC and he wasn't running the offenses when he was a HC. He would be an abject failure if we hired him as OC.

Maybe, you missed a zero. That was $500K not $50K and you can bring back Sydney as your personal assistant, hair braider, and caddie.

Yeah- I don’t buy that the job would kill you shy of fifty. Did Mack Brown look like a guy that burned the candle at both ends?  I don’t think so and he was damn near as successful as you can be here short of Saban/Dabo, and for as much as we bitched about him he should have probably won 3 national titles (fucking Gideon and BCS bullshit and colt injury) here in the space of 5 years. With a little luck he goes down as an all timer and I’m pretty sure he was a sloth. And not super smart. Coaching with a blank checkbook at Texas shouldn’t be any harder than winning- imo- we’ve just run into some mouth breathers that make it seem that way.

As to all that Muschamp stuff agreed a billion percent

Whats funny is how many of us (SHSU fans) were pissed when that retired Delaware DIV-II coach was hired at SHSU and then he hired some fucker from Slippery Rock to be his OC.

Now we're hoping to throw millions at him to be our next HC's OC.
