Early afternoon flight from DFW to San Antonio.  Packed house, and I am in my aisle seat.  Lady is all giggling as she approaches, "Debbie, we're right here, y'all are right in front of us," as she points to 2 inside seats by me.  I get up and let them in.

2 more couples walk by, "Hi Doris!  Hey there's Rhonda!"

Lady apologizes for being so upbeat, I nod and tell her it's fine, but I'm laughing inside as every dude who came on with those gals had that long face/ practically a scowl like liver & onions was the meal of the evening.  I continue just sitting there as people find their seats.

"Hon( me)  none of us know each other.  We've been in a chat group and this is our couples marriage  retreat."

Immediately the guys' expressions make complete sense, as I ask, "where are you going?"  Figuring it'd be one of the very nice local resorts in San Antonio area.

"Some ranch by Junction."

I'm not sure if I hid my expression, but I did not physically laugh, although I wanted to.  I thought of this board.  I thought of my friends.  I thought of the movie Couples Retreat and the Boooom!!! yoga.  Yeah, every one of those husbands already wanted to die.  Then imagine them way, way out in the middle of nowhere, which in and of itself is fine; but then surrounded by counselors and yappy women.

4 days of hell.  I kept laughing inside for the whole flight.

Exactly what do you have against liver and onions?

1. Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale is the best run medical facility I have ever encountered, and it’s not even close.

2. Why the fuck do 2032 batteries have to be so insanely hard to get out of the packaging?

Kitchen scissors are your friend.

Growing up, we got to request our own birthday supper. My brother always chose spaghetti. Mine was liver and onions, and it was the one time each year that my mom made it. She said that it stank up the house for several days.

Aside from the fact that my dad only had sisters, he had the very same relationship with liver and onions.

Every so often (like once every 5+ years), if I find myself dining at the sort of establishment that has liver and onions on the menu, I'll order it in his memory.

Mrs. Brat is very upset, and it is stressing me out.
When we were at the restaurant this afternoon she discovered her diamond cross pendant & chain (her anniversary present) were missing from around her neck. She has looked everywhere around the house, but we had been out to several places this morning, so those are a no-go to look.
It was her favorite & most sentimental bauble besides her wedding ring….
The little box chain was the first I had bought for her 55 years ago.

When I said I’ll go buy another, she got angry and refuses the idea.

WhoTF flies from Dallas to SA, to then get in another car or bus to drive out near Junction. That’s gotta be why the men are pissed.

90% of the time after I hang up the phone after a call from a customer (or anyone outside the office), I'm muttering "Stupid motherfucker" under my breath. And I know they'll  never stop calling. I have at least 10 more years of this.

Protip: Occasionally say that without hanging up, and you may not have to endure it for another 10 years.

Ice cream surrounded by a chewy rice-based substance.

Doesn't make any sense, but that doesn't matter one bit.

Buy some next time you're at the store. Give it a minute or two out of the freezer before you eat it for maximum texture enjoyment.

Damn you, @Prepuce of Doom.  You are the cause of my new addiction. I had never heard the word “mochi” before Sept 19 2023, and now I’ve eaten 3 boxes of them.

You're just making up for lost time!

Edit - fuck it, I'm going to go get one from the freezer right now. Cheers!

The pride flag needs a makeover. I don't know what it could be, but this one is just a mess of busyness.:

If only that community could find someone who is good at complimentary colors and design.

I'm colorblind and at first glance, I always think its the South Africa flag.

It's the entire spectrum of light refraction.  It means you see everything.  It was a brilliant concept at the outset, but got jammed up later on.

What about blind gay people? You photohomophobe!!!

I had a party there for my 11th birthday.  Had a great time and got to keep my helmet autographed by the staff.  Which, in hindsight, was really weird---20 somethings signing shit for a little kid.  Kinda creepy.  Like a drag show, but with aliens...

MFing I-35.  I travel all the rest of the interstates in Texas as well, 10, 20, 30, 35, 45, and even on occasion 27.  I-35 is unique especially between Austin and Hillsboro where there are 3 lanes.  The fast lane isnt the left lane, it is the RIGHT lane.  More left lane campers on 35 than any other interstate I frequent.

Flipping around football games yesterday and watched some of the end of the Eagles game. They pan into the crowd and there's a guy wearing a cool hat. Not an eagles hat, I don't like the eagles at all. It looked like the old powder blue Phillies stuff they used to wear in the 70s. But it's not a phillies hat, it had something else written on it in the old phillies font. It took me under 2 minutes to find this hat online. It's from a surf shop in New Jersey, of all places.

It just made me think about when I was a kid watching a movie or tv show, and I'd see a guy wearing a cool t-shirt or hat or something and wish I had that. There was no way to figure out where the item was from or how to get it. Now I can find out in minutes.

Try driving between Tucson and Phoenix. Be seeing wayyyy more LLCs.

On the other hand, make up for it on I10 across New Mexico in the midnight hours - pick up a dozen or so semis and run 100+ all the way across the state.

(some) Food trucks.  Generally I love these, but lately it seems like they are getting MORE expensive than brick and mortar.  Hey if the food is better, I get it.  But typically it is similar.  The idea of lower overhead without having a wait staff, cleanup crew, etc. is brilliant. But, now it seems to have gone away.

Also, why is there a tip line on the receipt?  Is that in case you dont think you are paying enough for the food?  Because it isnt for actually wait service to bring your food and refill your beverages.
