Best thing we can hope for is Sark somehow lucks into a generational QB like Mack, Jimbo, and Chizik that can overcome his coaching deficiencies.

He's had two No. 1 overall prospects in their respective recruiting classes at QB so far. Is that not enough? I suspect it would be for Ryan Day and Kirby Smart.

No just one. Our great defense didn’t seem to be an issue to score on in the red zone when it mattered for those opposing coaches.

You can’t be serious…

last year Texas had multiple HUGE goal line stands in the playoffs and other games that helped us win.

clemson, ASU, Aggy.

When it mattered most. Georgia twice, Ohio st twice. He’s  here to win big games not play in them then say “yea but we did really good against aggy and lesser teams”

Aggy wasn’t a playoff game and they weren’t good so pretty stupid to hang your hat on that. Az st and Clemson are teams we should beat and did and aren’t even in the same stratosphere as Georgia and Ohio st. Strange you can’t hold the head coach responsible for clear issues against great teams.

Look dude if you don’t think sark is an issue in big games I don’t know what to tell you. And you also used aggy as an example of what I don’t know. Our offense scored 17 that’s game and also somehow scored 7 for aggy too.

He needs an actual play calling OC, at minimum for the red zone.  It’s obvious he doesn’t have the time to put into play calling that he did at Alabama.  It’s frustrating but then I also remember the many years before him and the number of coaches who have won more games the last two years. This game we had a chance to win with the quarterback not even being close to his target on half his throws.  That makes play calling pretty hard to do.

We had the better overall offensive performance and plan in both Ohio State matchups (and the second Georgia matchup) and went 0-3. That is the toughest pill to swallow for me. We had them beat in a variety of different ways and made the 2 or 3 mistakes at the worst times we couldn't afford to make.

Ryan Day didn't do anything special in either matchup. He went into his shell, let Jeremiah Smith be a non-factor again and we are the ones who handed him the game. He didn't sit around Columbus all offseason gameplanning for a 200 yard performance on offense.

It would be a different story if we were just getting our doors blasted off and outclassed in these games. They have all been winnable aside from Georgia part 1, and even that one was a one-possession game in the second half.

I think Sark has won 20 straight games against unranked opponents going back to 2022. 10-6 against top 25 teams. It's the top 1% we are coming face to face with and we have to find a way to get over the top.

Overall I’m very happy with Sark. He’s hired great coaches, recruited and developed great players, and capitalized on the shifting landscape in college football in a manner that has elevated us to a top 5 program 3 years running.

Coaches tend to wear the “can’t win the big one” badge of honor until they finally break through, at which point all is forgiven. Ryan Day, Kirby Smart, Dabo, etc. I still think Sark will be in that class. There are problems that need to be fixed (primarily the red zone), but outside of Georgia 1 last year, we’ve been a play or two away from winning every big game, and I expect he’ll break through eventually.

If this year plays out like yesterday, he will be the DC on two of our top five defenses of all time. He’s definitely not the issue and frankly why and what’s required to have a shot at a title. He’s A+ legit.

You take the premise that Texas out performed UGA2 and both tOSU games then it comes down to red zone and his fourth and go for its specifically.

If Texas performed 50/50 in the red zone, even with arch’s nonsense we win.

and imo, when the team is struggling you have to scheme to win.

Texas was so far from winning those three games and yet “this close” too if sark wasn’t a fucking meathead in the red zone.

Sark failed big time.

Not all that familiar with PK, but I've seen his product and it's legit. Makes sense to me that after this year, someone is going to throw even bigger money at him to become a head coach. Will we be able to continue what he's started here? At this level???

Will we still get the same quality of defensive recruits or will they be following him to wherever? You'd like to think we can keep it going at this high level but there are no guarantees - unless...

PK stays on as HC. He hires a DC and then guess what, we finally get an OC..

A better option would be Sark getting an OC and then if PK leaves, get a DC, but I'm not convinced Sark will ever get an OC, and I think that's a worse option than PK as HC with a high profile up and coming OC. Those may well be our two options at the end of the season.

I get the feeling Sark is not spending enough time with his QB. That cross field throw on fourth and three took the cake. The kid shoulda known better. The fucking QB keepers up the middle instead of an RPO? How fucking lazy was that call? How lazy was it that we haven't practiced that situation thirty times during the off season? Give me Arch and a sprint to the far sideline flag. How long are we going to watch these Sark busts against good teams?

Or am I wrong about all this and PK's not going anywhere?

I thought I read PK isn’t a flight risk. He’s not looking for the HC position.

Love PK but he's kind of an introvert and doesn't hold the room like a head coach should. If you ever listened to Jeff Choate speak when he was here  you see a head coach. Contrast with PK, you see that he's comfortable in the spotlight but he doesn't want it.

And what others have echoed,  we're all pretty sure he wants to be a DC for life and now he probably enjoys less recruiting with the unlimited coaches and they can put someone else on the road.

I simply pointed out the absolute fallacies in your statement.

if you don’t think atm was a “big game” or that our defense didn’t have some HUGE goal line stops in that game that helped us win games and make it to the playoffs where we had more HUGE stops to help us advance, then maybe you should stop smoking crack.

Sark is a LLLOOOONNNNGGG away from perfect, but he’s all a LLLOOOOONNNNGGG WAY from what we had before him. More than likely the guy we have after him is gonna be worse than Sark.

You don’t fire Sark for PK.

Sark is why this team is loaded with talent. You lose him, you’ll have an immediate talent drain.

It's the old "Let's wait for the outcome to decide if this is a big game or not" stance.

There are big games where the talent edge is decidedly in our favor and big games where it’s even. Oklahoma state for the big 12 and A&M, arky and a few OU games come to mind. As do the UW, UGA and tOSU games. The only game where the talent was even and we won was at Bama.

Reality is Sark is a great OC, an average to above average HC.

Right now he's our Franklin, and after a decade of misery thats not bad.

I think he's struggling to understand the nuance between designing the offensive system, and running the moment by moment Offense so he can focus on being a great HC . He needs his Gus Malzahn

If he does this everyone wins , he just has to learn to let go a bit

UW had 10 players drafted that year to our 11.  They had the better QB.  They had 3 first rounders and 2 second rounders.  How is the talent edge decidedly in our favor there?

Edit... Maybe you meant them as even with us there and I misread it.

Sark desperately needs someone to take off some of the pressure. How about a QB Coach. Someone who's focus would be to study game plans and help Manning with audibles when Sark makes another asscall. Someone to work with Arch on the sidelines to go over the vids etc of the previous drive. What are our last four or five starting QBs doing these days? Great job in Austin. Good money.

You misread. There are big games where we have the talent advantage but it’s still a big game. Ok state, OU, Arky and A&M come to mind. There are other big games with even talent. UW, Bama, UGA, tOSU and OU at times come to mind. Sark can win the big game, but except for at Bama, he’s lost all the even talent ones.

Who are we gonna get better than Sark?  Who's even out there that's clearly better than Sark, regardless of availability?

Barring some scandal or Jimbo-like flameout, he will coach here for a long time.
