I think people are forgetting how well he'll throw for scouts. Those goobs always forget about pocket presence et al when they see a great arm. If we keep winning (in this down QB year) he'll go 2nd - 3rd.

His lofted passes aren’t going to look any better for scouts than they do for us.

If QE is still hobbling and we think we've got a CFB Playoff spot regardless of beating aggy - play Arch.

It'd be kinda fun to beat those clowns with our "3-star" QB.

Unpopular opinion:

I could see it going the other way.
This is a game we don’t have to win.
I could see sark sticking with ewers just to avoid the nonsense that would come with a QB controversy simmering for 3 weeks before the playoff game if arch comes in and plays well.

Also has the added benefit of keeping arch off the game film if/when ewers is in effective in the playoff and you actually do need to go to arch.

“But this is A&M. This, like ou, is a game you don’t lose if you want to be the coach at Texas for a while.”

I hear ya… but couldn’t you see sark not fully appreciating what Saturday and this rivalry means? (Like arky 3 years ago).

And then never making that mistake again and winning the next 9 in a row?

I don't know why people were assuming this injury could just be brushed off. The guy couldn't run and couldn't throw at all in the second half last Saturday. He's dealt with several injuries and never been a guy that has those freakish fast recoveries. One week is just a really quick turnaround for a sprained ankle, especially when you go out there and keep playing on it for two+ quarters after it happens (good call Sark jfc).

I feel bad for him, he'd been playing better in November and I think the way he was playing would have been enough to feel very good about the A&M matchup. Not so much if he's anywhere near as limited as he was last week.

If Sark trots out an injured Ewers - and it seems like that's the plan - Texas will be very easy to defend and lose the game.

If Ewers is able to play through an injury, unless I'm forgetting some game in the last three years, it will be the first time. His minor injuries normally have him missing 2-3 games.

Didn’t he do it like 6 days ago?

He was injured to the point we had to turn to the running game, completely.... I don't think that will work for 4 quarters against aggy on Saturday.

He completely fell apart, and had no business playing. We threw six passes in the second half for 14 yards.

True in every way, but it's important to remember he threw a really nice TD rolling out after he got hurt -- to be filed in the "not a pussy" column.

Now it's off to eat some prime prime!

He also threw a throw back screen to Helm late in the 3Q, that has me wondering where the “he couldn’t walk” talk is coming from

That wasn’t the point. Try and keep up.

Totally agree, and I didn’t say anything to the contrary.

You're right. He finished the game after being injured. I think it felt more like "We have to get him out of there", than an injured QB carrying his team to a win while playing hurt.

It's hard to keep up, this thread is circular.... everything has been said repeatedly and ad nauseam. Drinking while cooking isn't helping either. lol

FCB with an update on Ewers

One source close to the situation said Ewers' ankle sprain wasn't progressing as quickly as initially hoped. That source said there's obviously still time for the ankle to respond to treatment before Saturday.

Monday's practice was more of a walkthrough as Texas put in the game plan for Texas A&M, so not much was required physically of Ewers.

Tuesday and Wednesday were more physical practices, and Ewers' ankle "was in a stiff brace."

"Quinn took the first snaps with the first team offense, but he was definitely limited," the source said.

Ewers has been getting daily treatment on his ankle, which will continue on Thanksgiving Day and Friday. The hope is that the injury will improve by Saturday.

I'm not worried.  We have a very capable back-up, who many people here would prefer as the starter.

We'll be fine as long as Sark doesn't get stubborn and stay with Ewers if he's ineffective.

Uhhh that is THE problem Sark has proven that over and over and over again that he will. That you think he might not is crazy ;-)

I keep hearing about these “daily treatments…”

How do you treat a sprained ankle daily?

I had one severe sprain (in a cast for six weeks) and two others lower level ones back in the day, and immobilization was pretty much it.

What can they do other than that?

I really don't get the QB controversy shit. It's not like he's pulling him because he's thrown 6 INT'S and fumbled 4 times. If the dude is hurt, play Arch. We get a first rd bye if we beat Georgia, and I bet even if Arch played actual full snaps instead of the 7 he got last time, he could carve them up and he's a running threat.

There's no controversy when your QB1 is hobbling and can barely stand. That's why Sark brought in another highly touted guy to backup Quinn in these situations. The last thing we need is for Ewers to get pummeled to the ground and injury another part of his body. Sark is stubborn. I get he wants Quinn to have a go at it, but if he's still hobbling, you for to #2. That's why it's crucial to get both reps with the 1s. It's not hard to grasp.

It is absurd that two CFB teams still have six games to play this season.

Can't imagine any NFL team taking Ewers in either of the first two rounds.

Anthony Richardson.

Will Levis.

Daniel Jones.

Quinn Ewers.

Based on college career would you draft?

QB is difficult to find, so teams try everything.

Quinn is going to win way more games than her loses. His real knock is going to be health. He'll train on throwing moon balls and look great in pro day.

I had a really bad sprain in college... Like "when the swelling goes down, we'll look at it again to see if it might need surgery."

I thought it was broken when it happened.

Was on crutches for four days. Daily treatment made it a lot better. I couldn't have played football in a week, but I also couldn't walk on it immediately when it happened and had to get carried to a car to the hospital.

Sounds like QEs injury wasn't closer to what you and I are talking about, as he stayed in the game.

He should be fine.

Solid medical analysis here.

Don't worry about it. It don't make a shit.

Well, if we send out a hobbled Ewers vs a healthy Manning, it could make a difference. If Ewers is healthy, we beat them easily. If Manning is healthy we beat them easily. If Ewers is injured and tries to play, we may lose.
