I was watching Morning Joe this morning and one of the reporters was interviewing a group of Trump supporters about Kamala. It was the same stuff about how ignorant she is and yada, yada. But the conspiracy theories started to come out about how possibly she knew all about Biden's health and that possibly this was all calculated about when she would come in. It's going to get real ugly, real ugly.  Meanwhile Fat Poopy Pants is out there playing golf.

It was already ugly. You new here or something? We're all but counting down republicans openly calling Harris racial slurs, and the (R) speaker has had to ask his caucus to tone it down already.

The real fun is when the fascist fluffers show up to repeat the hollow talking points, and then run away crying about how mean the CR is for shitting on their unsourced bullshit

I believe this.  I just don’t think it is a negative.

Doesn't that mean she's smart and Machiavellian?

Then again, these are the same people that thought Biden was an imbecile while also being at the top of an international crime family.

They're also going to go all in on "too liberal" as if her opponent is trying to turn America into Gilead.  How come it's never that Trump is "too conservative???"

Vance has to quit. He can’t be fired. It’s happened before. Eagleton withdrew like a week after the convention in 72, with much coercion from McGovern

What if Vance fell out of window? Asking for Kremlin…

Beshear

Seems to be the favorite among progressives…

I’m still all in on Beshear. Young, AG background so Harris will like that, 2 term governor who is term limited, can speak to WWC voters, they’ve already worked together.

Coop is good too. Also term limited, won twice in a purple state in Trump years

Which is kind of funny that he’s a favorite among progressives despite being a governor of one of the reddest states in the country. But I get it - dude stands for his beliefs. That’s what I like about him

Ugly in the sense of watching a scorpion sting itself to death.

Excellent point. Just as someone made a good point about asking Trump to define socialism, somebody should start sorting out the word conservative and seeing how it even applies.

The template has two ends of the spectrum for measuring political inclination. The TV journalists don't see that their politicometer isn't measuirng the right thing. Their laziness leads them to using words whose meaning has been completely lost.

I've chosen anti-republic versus pro-republic. It's not catching on. I'm no Don Draper, I suppose.

I admit I was wrong. I don't know if I was just in denial or just old and tone deaf, but I thought pivoting from Biden with 3.5 months left was stupid. I didn't expect this level of energy and excitement for Kamala. I'm very impressed.

Agree with this premise and it's not worth the risk with Shapiro.

I hope Kamala's team is very patient with selecting and announcing the VP pick. Trump is gonna dump Vance. They have a legitimate built-in excuse, as they selected couch fucker against a Biden-Harris ticket. They need to "go in another direction" with Kamala at the top of the ticket. The longer Kamala waits, the longer Trump has to deal with all the negative Vance press and Kamala rising in the polls. Force them to make the new VP move first.

If you're just looking at the electoral map, this seems like a ding against him.  I think it's doubtful Beshear gets Harris Kentucky, which leads to the question of whether his regional appeal is enough to win any of the rust belt states.

By comparison on this point, Cooper arguably gives Harris at least the possibility of picking up a purplish North Carolina (though I'm not sure I give that better than a 50% chance).

The main knock against Shapiro, as highlighted in the New Republic article, is his position on the Israel/Palestine war (although the article seems to imply that any Jewish VP pick is risky).  I understand the need for Harris to make a safe pick, but is this really the single issue that can decide the presidential election?  Are those voters supporting Palestine so entrenched that they think a Trump/Vance administration is going to do them any more favors than Harris/Shapiro?

I'm not saying this as someone who thinks that Shapiro is the No. 1 pick.  But I question the New Republic's writer who believes a Shapiro VP pick could be fatal to Harris's chances of winning.

Short version:  What the fuck do I know?

Except VP picks are usually to shore up a group the top of the ticket is not strong with - Pence was for evangelicals, Harris was for minority and female voters, Biden was for white voters, Edwards was for the country club Southern type of voters.

Beshear wouldn’t be picked to make KY competitive - it would Be his ability to speak to both suburban white voters and WWC voters

Short version:  What the fuck do I know?

To me this just feels like a far left, I'm going to piss in the pool if I don't get exactly my way on everything situation. There's a lot of hemming and hawing going on in that article, and speculating that that many circles won't like Shapiro's stance on Palestine is certainly valid. But it's the same as certain posters here who were saying the bloc in michigan was going to doom ______________________ becuase _______________________ for weeks. Or the people here and in congress who were insisting dropping Biden was literally suicide, and that includes the likes of AOC.

Sure, you would *think* that these people would understand their options versus a Trump regime in charge, for palestine, but I had a very spirited interaction with some progressives in a group chat this week, where I basically pointed out they were fucking children who look out for any excuse to not participate unless it's their actual dream candidate and they love nothing better than to take their ball and go home. Bernie Bros got fucked over in 2016, for sure, but they also stayed home and helped Trump get elected. So I have zero belief that many voters can do an analysis of which platform progresses their overall worldview further.

In short, I don't think anyone can say anything with certainty, but if you lock up PA, you have to seriously, seriously consider Shaprio. I'm not saying he's got to be the guy, but you can't dismiss him becuase maybe he's not some folks first or second choice. PA is the ballgame.

Good point.

Beshear and Walz are your best to lock up the Midwest. Cooper and Kelly are best for the sunbelt states (AZ, GA, NC), where Harris probably has the most upside.

Shapiro is risky too because he’s only been a governor for 2 years. Pritzker is a fat billionaire.

The actual best choice for Harris is Sherrod Brown but you can’t give up that red state senate seat

I'd throw out any norms with Presidential elections this cycle. Vance is a weak link and everyone knows it. Even if they try to hide him Dems will continue to pounce. Trump won't be able to handle the embarrassment.

Vance is the perfect answer for anytime Trump shits on Kamala for how she talked about Biden in the 2020 primary. Yeah, let's dive into what your VP thought about you and still you picked him.

Don’t disagree but I think Beshear has a lot of Scranton Joe in him that would appeal to those voters you need in Wi, MI, PA. He can go talk to union workers with ease and fire up the young progressives. While she handles the turnout in Philly, Detroit and Milwaukee

The Dems need to counter that by flooding the media about what comes w/ the 2025 project.

I mean I don't hate Beshear. But in this world of short attention span theater, is anyone really paying attention to the VP unless they're consistently weird AF and fucking a couch, like Vance? How many young people are going to see a VP speak on the left to get fired up?  I'm just skeptical of booting a guy becuase the far, far left who are prone to wine about any single thing says "Not that guy!"

Shapiro can and will campaign hard for Kamala in PA as Governor. I don't understand why he'd have to be on the ticket in order to win the state. Hell, many Pennsylvanians would probably be pissed if he left the governorship after 18 months.
