Taking two kids (11,10) to their first games tonight and tomorrow. It’s been forever since I’ve been to a game also. It says there autograph opportunities in RF. Any tips on that? The boys would love to get a few. Any general tips also greatly appreciated.

A selection of players will come out post game and sign by RF section. Bring a sharpie and a ball.

A top five matchup takes place at the Disch this weekend, as No. 3 Texas hosts No. 4 Georgia beginning today (weather permitting). The Longhorns came out of last weekend's series banged up, with Rylan Galvan, Max Belyeu and Adrian Rodriguez all being injured.

Here's the latest on all three.

Rylan Galvan -  A gametime decision it sounds like, but out of the three, he will be the most likely to play. I'm told that Galvan actually DH'd at Tuesday's practice.

Adrian Rodriguez - He hasn't been ruled out as of Friday morning. If he does play this weekend, he won't be at 100%, but this looks to be another game time decision.

Max Belyeu - Out this weekend, and for the coming weeks, but sources close to the program are very optimistic that he will return before the end of the regular season.

First pitch for the Longhorns is at 6:30 PM. Tonight's game will be televised on SEC Network+.

What a revelation there, Blake. Looks like somebody didn’t watch Tuesday’s contest with Texas State.

I know Georgia is a very good offensive team, but holy crap:

AVG:  UGA 0.324 (UT 0.299)

SLG%:  UGA 0.629 (UT 0.537)

R:  UGA 327 (UT 207)

HR:  UGA 84 (UT 47)

BB:  UGA 204 (UT 136)

K:  UGA 243 (UT 237)

It might not suck if things get pushed to a Sunday doubleheader, when the wind will be keeping the ball in the park.  Weather tonight looks dicey.  Saturday should see us dry out, Sunday will be sunny, breezy and cool.

Have you seen our third base play this season?

Rodriquez fielding percentage is .833, Borba's .900.

Kennedy's at K ST is .877.  Sometimes players need a change (or playing time was gonna be tight with who was coming in) and he left on his accord.

He's not here and Max is hurt, next man on the TEXAS roster up.

The weather doesn't look good for a game tonight

Seeing different things on different forecasts, but looks like the stormy shit shouldn't get here until after midnight. Fingers crossed. First game I'm attending in a couple years.

Yep.

Georgia feasted on shitty pitching and were overmatched tonight.

Just get there early during warmups and go down to the right field sections and have them hang over the wall and yell at players. They are more likely to sign if you know their names and not just their numbers.

All of these things. Several autographs were had, including Spencer. What a great night.

Getting to the games today and tomorrow?

These guys are really tough.  They just don't get down when things look less than optimal.  The discipline that this coaching staff demands is really paying off.

That is a Coach Gus type start. Holy shit.

And without the season-opening series with Hardin-Simmons!  Lulz.

And Tarleton State!

Before the game limits went into effect, Texas would play close to 90 games a year. West Coast teams would start in January and play a hundred games.

There were no early season Tournaments at MLB parks then either.

Texas would always have at least one or two series against the top teams in the nonconference like Miami, Arizona State, Stanford, and Cal State Fullerton.

Arky will be #1 next week.

That leaves two more weeks to jump them before A&M comes to town.

Kentucky and Auburn for us

Georgia and aggy for them

I like our chances

Why do we care?

The idea of A&M being #1 before the season and it flip to us being #1 and them unranked in less than 2.5 months after we took their coach, would bring a lot of schlossenfruede.

You left somebody out.

Spoke to a few sources across multiple sports this morning and got a lot of good news across all fronts.

Baseball:
Texas swept a Top 5 Georgia squad over the weekend, without both Adrian Rodriguez and Max Belyeu. I checked on the status of those two earlier and was told that both are recovering well.

Rodriguez is "structurally fine" but the staff does not want to rush his return.

"It's solely when he feels better... but we need it to not hurt," said a source.

As for Belyeu, it sounds like the staff is cautiously optimistic on a return sooner rather than later.

In case anyone is interested, I looked up the SEC teams that were top 8 national seeds last year:

1. UTenn (22-8 SEC)

2.UK (22-8 SEC)

3. A&M (19-11 SEC)

5. Arky (20-10 SEC)

7. UGA (17-13 SEC)

12-6 to finish would get us to 23-7, which looks pretty crazy given the above.  Food for thought.

Oh no, we have an easy path AGAIN.  Damn the luck.  #meatgrinder

I really like our chances to finish top 3 in the SEC with that remaining SOS.  And our biggest competitions are #1, #5 and #7 and all above .500

Florida baseball loses another key player for season to injury

Florida can't seem to shake the injury bug this season.

First, the Gators lost starting pitcher Pierce Coppola, who still hasn't returned to action after leaving during the second week of the season. Jacksonville transfer and draft prospect no longer roams center field at Condron Family Ballpark due to a season-ending shoulder injury. Lefty specialist Frankie Menendez is also done for the year and needs Tommy John surgery. Other arms, such as redshirt sophomore Jake Clemente, Sante Fe transfer Matthew Jenkins and team ace Liam Peterson, have also battled injuries this year.

The latest name to join the list is junior second baseman Cade Kurland, a critical piece of Florida's offense and infield. After multiple attempts to return from a shoulder dislocation suffered during the Miami series, Kurland is officially done for the year, according to Kevin O'Sullivan.

"Yeah, (Kurland's) going to have surgery in another week or two, so he'll be out," O'Sullivan said. "It's obviously unfortunate, but I don't think he was left with any other decision to make. We'll get him back, hopefully, next year and help him with his recovery. I know he was really disappointed. He tried to do everything he could to play, even when he played against Florida State in Jacksonville. He tried everything, but it wouldn't have been fair to him to continue to play."

D1Baseball recently named Kurland a top-10 second baseman at the college level, and he's draft-eligible this summer. It's possible that he's played his last game in a Florida uniform, but the program will do what it can to retain him during the offseason. Naturally, the injury will hurt his draft stock and there's potential to become a Day 1 pick with a strong senior year, so there should be plenty of optimism that Kurland will return.

Kurland finishes his junior year slashing .316/.490/.605 with three home runs and 15 runs batted in. He'd upped his walk rate significantly from single digits over the past year to 19.6% through 51 plate appearances. His 10 walks equal the number of strikeouts on the season, too.

Mainly this, sure there are some other reasons too.
