MOP even got the invite.

My greatest sports memory by far was sitting on the 3rd base side watching J Brent get the final out. Will Crouch took a cleat to the head in the dogpile afterward. David Maroul is still the best defensive 3rd baseman I’ve seen play for us. That was a truly incredible team and to do what they did, when they lost Lecure before the season, was amazing.

Got to talk to Wheeless’ dad at the hotel after his HR against Baylor. Just an awesome team

Maroul says Gilfillan got the cleat to the head.

That’s probably right then. I just remember one of them holding a towel to their head afterward. I also remember security guards were dicks and literally were making parents of the players leave as they were talking to their kids.

As awesome as the 05 CWS was, we can’t forget about the super regional at Ole Miss. I believe we lost game 1 , there were some weather issues, and I remember Augie intentionally walked the bases loaded for J Brent Cox.  That series set the table for the CWS run.

Texas also had to come out of the losers' bracket and defeat Arkansas twice in the finals of the Austin Regional.  Texas was maybe helped by the fact that 2005 was the first year that game two of the regional finals was held the next day, rather than the same day as the first game of the finals.

Belyeu is standing in the box and taking live pitches, don’t think he is swinging yet. Read that Schloss said he could possibly (albeit a small chance) play against OU if everything progresses with no hiccups. Good to see that he is progressing along the timeline that they have had since the beginning

Randy Boone complete game, IIRC?

Alaniz pitched a complete game against Miami OH to put Texas in the regional finals.  Boone won the first game against Arkansas, but it wasn't a complete game.  Kasparek started the second game against Arkansas, but didn't get the victory.  I can't remember who got the win, but I remember Cox got a save.

I think Charlie Boyce is still on the mound for Arkansas. Dude pulled an ~Austin wood that regional. 122 pitches on Friday noon start, 121 pitches Monday 1pm start.

The sleeveless uni era was horrible

I hate the vest whites but we also wore the grey hats in that era. Our grey pants, orange shirts, grey hat unis were incredible. We should wear them again for Sundays on the road.

Fuck the committee for that. It was truly an insane bracket placement. If I remember correctly most thought we would be a national seed or right ont he verge. The committee then sent us to the #1 team for a super. Cunts.

They sent us to #1 fsu before that and were also rewarded with us knocking them off.

That was 2003.

when Augie passed Coach Gus in all-time wins.

Ole Miss was the #5 seed (Tulane was #1), but it will was still BS… UT had a better record and ranked higher in the polls.

We’re 7-1 in 1 run games in conference. The 1 loss coming on an error in the 15th inning. We’ve only lost 2 conference games played within 3 runs.

In losses: 2 runs of offense, 4 (in 15 innings), 0, 1, 8, 2, 1.

And the 8 run L we have a good shot to win if 99 gets the ball with a 1 run lead.

Pretty unbelievable how reliable Grubbs and Volantis have been in countless high leverage spots.

Havent seen this discussed on here but apparently the entire Texas team was sick before the series on Friday and Riojas and many others were running 100+ fevers all weekend. Apparently that played into Jonah's cramps too. And apparently we were so sick that we were getting the Florida player's sick too.

I wonder if Gasparino's "in house issue" was him shitting his pants

That would explain him lolly-gagging on the field

As bad as Gasparino has been at the plate, his defense in CF has remained very good and we saw what it looked like with someone other than him out there on Sunday.

My guess is Farmer heads to the bench when Belyeu is back. It would also be nice if Mendoza came back soon so we can slide Rodriguez back to the DH role.

Farmer's defense is pretty good save the 2 weird balls he dropped this weekend. I wonder how many of our pitchers could hit better than him. Gotta be like half of them. I've never seen a UT batter more scared at the plate than he is.

He came to Texas as a walk on so the fact he has even a starter as a sophomore is a credit to him but yeah, there are a lot of times it doesn’t look pretty. For someone as physically put together as he is, he rarely seems to hit the ball with authority.

He is one of the prime examples of guys playing right now who you probably don’t see on most other SEC teams around the top of the standings.

Why not put Arod at 3B and Borba DH? Borba has to triple pump to make throw to 1B and is limited defensively in terms of range etc.

Or Farmer at DH and sit Borba to get more speed on base paths. Borba to me is Jack o’Dowd 2.0.

ARod is playing with one hand and is not any better than Borba defensively.

There is no point in DH'ing Tommy Farmer in my mind. His biggest value add at this point is defense.
