If there is an uprising at some point of the American populace it won't be because of war (Our military is not being defeated in any conventional warfare even with TFG at the controls.) or because people suddenly decided that we should be kind to immigrants. It will be part of the same reason Mussolini was sent packing and that's when the population starts to not have access to the food it needs just to survive. That could be a lengthy wait even with millions of people eventually being sent out of the US who prop up so much of the harvesting of fruits and vegetables we eat daily. When that happens, you'll see a collapse and all you can hope for is a new man or woman in power that brings democracy back.
It's easy to say these things, but how each country handles a situation like this is different. Right now we're handling it, to be kind, poorly. I don't foresee a civil war, but food scarcity is as big a motivating factor for regime overthrows as one that has awful human rights abuses. It took Italy 20 years, a dwindling food supply and Allied bombing raids to get Il Duce kicked to the curb. We start to see millions of hungry Americans that aren't used to 3rd World food conditions and all bets are off on what they do to rectify a lack of food.

Unfortunately, this can't be pinned on one guy. Trump is the catalyst, but this is the culmination of decades of work by people way smarter. It doesn't end with one guy's death, it'll take a huge overhaul. Remember, it'll only be bloodless "if the left allows it to be".

Thing is though the people way smarter had no idea how to win elections like Trump can.  Without Trump, we could have gone another 20-30 years and maybe completely outlived the P2025 broligarch problem.

Way smarter people have issues attempting to sound dumb. TFG does not have that issue. He was born that way and nothing has changed since then. He c an easily relate to morons and their lack of intellect or ability to critically think because he cannot do that either.

It’s like if I attempt to engage Neil deGrasse Tyson in a conversation about the universe. Could I do it and sound as smart as he is? I could not and he’d figure that out pretty quick. However one of his astrophysicist friends wants to do it they’d be on par with each. TFG is just on par intellectually with the dumbest portion of society and that works for him.

It would have been nice to outlive the broligarch issues, but I guess dealing with them now might help future generations that come long after we are gone. One can hope at least.

Yeah, and that's the problem Dems have.  They sound smart and wonky.

So do y'all think we achieve Monday Night Rehabilitation by his third term, or does Beef Supreme have to wait patiently until his fourth?

I am in the minority, but I think a terrible recession or depression is the only thing that will make many people realize that we are all in this together.

I don’t think you can reach these people unless things go really really south.

I wouldn’t call those minority opinions. Let the world burn, give the electorate what they voted for. Let them suffer

My daughter got a 2 year blanket visa in the UK based on where she got her degree.

She will soon be getting her master's degree in Germany for functionally free (like $1500 a year total fees).

Compare that to the American approach to educated and recruiting talent: actively crippling our higher ed institutions to educate anyone (including our own people), and functionally shut down any access by the best and brightest from elsewhere (no more student visas).  We are lighting ourselves on fire, and bragging about what a brilliant America-first strategy that is.  So fucking dumb.

Yeah, thinking about my masters in Slovenia.

Please not. I am not a Red State gov, but if this was said by Mr. Miller, well it is interesting. The bold.

"Every governor of a red state, if you are watching tonight: pick up the phone, call DHS, work with us to build facilities in your state so we can get the illegals and criminals out," Miller said.

Obviously the solution is more tax cuts for the rich, and more tariffs.

Govt takes from the middle and lower class, gives to billionaires.  Billionaires own the banks that foreclose on the homes lost due to the depression and then turns them into rentals with super tricky leases and high security deposits.  At what point do they realize they are killing the gold egg laying goose?  I swear it's not the money that counts anymore.  These fuckers keep score by how many lives they can fuck over.   And get style points for creative cruelty.

And we let them do it.

1B per year cut from Pell grants. Increase to 15 hours a semester from 12 to be eligible so Pell grant won’t cover as much and harder to work and go to school

many subsidized loan programs eliminated, the ones that are left are capped at 50k per year

repayment options limited

still cannot discharge through bankruptcy

Going to affect millions of MAGA voters and their families. Oh well they can pick grapes and process chickens I guess

There's an answer for when you find yourself on the Titanic.  Get the fuck off.

Seriously, if you have any means or mechanism and you are NOT looking at abandoning this doomed ship, you're doing it wrong.

Within minutes of yesterday's bill passage, I received a propaganda email from the Social Security Administration, the text was the same as their post here.

I'm not sure why I got it.  I'm not due for benefits for a long time.  I did request a social security statement of past wages and an estimate of future benefits a few years ago, the thing they used to send in the mail.

The email talks about how the bill "ensures that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits".  Well, currently about 64% of seniors already don't pay tax on SS benefits.  So about 25% of seniors may get a new tax benefit in the form of an increased deduction.

The email also says "The new law includes a provision that eliminates federal income taxes on Social Security benefits for most beneficiaries, providing relief to individuals and couples. Additionally, it provides an enhanced deduction for taxpayers aged 65 and older, ensuring that retirees can keep more of what they have earned."  I'm reading the bill and I don't think the first sentence is true.  The second sentence is true, they provided a new $6000 exemption for those over 65 that qualify.  The second sentence (the deduction) is what they are claiming provides the first sentence (elimination of SS tax).  They are stating it twice as if they were separate benefits.

The new $6000 deduction expires in four year and is phased out for above certain income levels ($75,000 for individuals, $150,000 for couples).  It's unclear to me if you have to itemize to get the deduction or if it is more like an exemption.

Had they NOT included this section in the bill, the $4000 personal exemption would have come back for everyone below the exemption phaseout income level, which was $250k-$300k in 2015 depending on your filing status.

Seniors are going to read this email and think that Trump eliminated tax on Social Security.  It will be used as a rallying cry in the mid-terms.  No such thing happened.  One in four seniors may get a new benefit, and had the government done nothing at all then most of us would have gotten a benefit.  And the administration is pushing out misleading information presented as official government communications.

This is Trump's America.

I’m sure that everyone who has set up an account with an email address got sent the email.
