There seems to be a growing belief from the religious right that women shouldn't be allowed to vote because their man (father and later husband) should vote/speak for the household. Women in other situations should be discounted as not mattering.

I have zero understanding if this is an extreme fringe in the low, low single %ages or not.

Then you also have a larger but overlapping opinion from some in the right that poor people shouldn't vote since they're "takers." And I'm defining poor from their definitions as someone who pays little to zero in federal income taxes. These opinions conveniently ignore FICA, sales, property or fees as taxes even the poor person may pay a higher overall tax/fee burden as a percent of their income/wealth.

So Trump is a "taker" and therefore shouldn't be able to vote. I don't believe he's paid taxes in 20 years.

Yeah, I'm sure the American consumer is gung ho to drive vehicles that get 8 mpg.  Imagine a current vehicle that gets 24 mpg, driven 12K miles per year -- that's 500 gallons, or roughly $1500.  Bump that to 1500 gallons and we're at $4500, or a $3000 hickey.

PER YEAR.  Multiplied by probably 2-3 to account for the average household.  Yes, please cut the price of the vehicle by say $3000 and then cost me $3000 per year for this "benefit".  (Not to mention the price of vehicles won't drop a dime.)

These people are so fucking stupid.

Shocked Oh No GIF by Game Two

The only way we beat this is when the 74 percent of American adults who did not vote for this decide it's time to take control and put maximum pressure on republican politicians to GTFO. Politicians have no spine, as soon as they feel the intense heat of 200 million pissed off people with pitch forks at their door they will jetison trump and try to act like they were for good all along.

Either that or military junta.

This is the end game. I can't believe it. But this is it. Either American Democracy falls or this is the only way we rid ourselves of this MAGA Christian Nationalist plague.

You talking about the Kentucky watch party? Because who the fuck wants to bring their kid to either if there's a chance this increasingly unhinged fucking psycho shows up? I mean, I've seen him post about going to tailgates in the past, so you actually might know him irl and know his damned handle.

Look, I know it's problematic to IP-ban people because of VPNs and shit. That said, you've remained silent and turned a blind eye to his shit, so maybe make it known to him that he ain't fucking welcome on this board or at any of the get-togethers. And, you know, he posted this in the middle of you discussing the fucking Florida tailgate.

If he was actually there, all I can do is just shake my damn head.

Well the American consumer is giving itself measles so I am pretty sure it can be talked into an 8MPG vehicle.  They can take out seatbelts, too, and really get that cost down.

It makes sense for an appeals court to not allow national guards in Chicago. If they allow it and kick it up to the Supreme Court to decide, that bell couldn’t be unrung. I guess the Supreme Court could order the WH to pull the troops out of Chicago but the damage is done.

Head of the U.S. Military’s Southern Command Is Stepping Down, Officials Say

Adm. Alvin Holsey is leaving less than a year into his tenure, and as the Pentagon escalates attacks against boats in the Caribbean Sea.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/16/us/politics/southern-command-head-stepping-down.html?unlocked_article_code=1.t08.Qj9I.7_pupYgbBqxH&smid=url-share

This seems like something. Now start talking about all the illegalities, etc.

Quote

The military commander overseeing the Pentagon’s escalating attacks against boats in the Caribbean Sea that the Trump administration says are smuggling drugs is stepping down, three U.S. officials said on Thursday.

The officer, Adm. Alvin Holsey, is leaving his job as head of the U.S. Southern Command, which oversees all operations in Central and South America, even as the Pentagon has rapidly built up some 10,000 forces in the region in what it says is a major counterdrug and counterterrorism mission.

It was unclear why Admiral Holsey is leaving now, less than a year into his tenure, and in the midst of the biggest operation in his 37-year career. But one of the U.S. officials, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters, said that Admiral Holsey had raised concerns about the mission and the attacks on the alleged drug boats.

In a statement on social media, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made no mention of any friction with his four-star commander. “On behalf of the Department of War,” said Mr. Hegseth, using the name of the department he now prefers, “we extend our deepest gratitude to Admiral Alvin Holsey for his more than 37 years of distinguished service to our nation as he plans to retire at year’s end.”

Since early September, U.S. Special Operations forces have struck at least five boats off the Venezuelan coast that the White House says were transporting drugs, killing 27 people. American officials have privately made it clear that the main goal is to drive Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela’s authoritarian leader, from power.

But a range of specialists in the laws governing the use of force have disputed the Trump administration’s claim that it can lawfully kill people suspected of drug trafficking like enemy troops instead of arresting them for prosecution. As a matter of domestic law, Congress has not authorized any armed conflict.

As a matter of international law, for a nonstate group to qualify as a belligerent in an armed conflict — meaning its members can be targeted for killing based on their status alone, not because of anything they specifically do — it must be an “organized armed group” with a centralized command structure, and engaging in hostilities.

Admiral Holsey, who is Black, becomes the latest in a line of more than a dozen military leaders, many of them people of color and women, who have left their jobs this year. Most have been fired by Mr. Hegseth or pushed out.

Mr. Hegseth fired the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., who is Black; the first woman to command the Navy, Adm. Lisa Franchetti; and the U.S. military’s representative to the NATO military committee, Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield. He also pushed out Lt. Gen. Jeffrey A. Kruse, the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Others have not fit into the mold of what Mr. Hegseth considers a leader in his Pentagon. In August, the Air Force’s top uniformed officer, Gen. David Allvin, announced that he would retire early — two years into a four-year term.

About two weeks ago, Mr. Hegseth summoned hundreds of generals and admirals from around the world to meeting at Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va. It was a gathering without precedent in recent memory. The secretary told the senior officers that he was tightening standards for fitness and grooming, cracking down even more rigorously on “woke garbage” and rejecting the notion of “toxic” leadership.

It was not clear on Thursday who would replace Admiral Holsey, who just this week visited the islands of Antigua and Barbuda and Grenada.

News of the admiral’s departure comes a day after The New York Times reported that the Trump administration had secretly authorized the C.I.A. to conduct covert action in Venezuela.

Mr. Trump acknowledged on Wednesday that he had authorized the covert action and said the United States was considering strikes on Venezuelan territory.

All of these developments come as the U.S. military is planning its own possible escalation, drawing up options for Mr. Trump to consider, including strikes inside Venezuela.

While Admiral Holsey has been the highest-ranking military overseeing the military strikes, the decision to carry them out has been driven by the White House, and the strikes themselves have been conducted by Special Operations forces.

The Trump administration has justified its attacks on suspected drug smugglers as national self-defense at a time of high overdose deaths in the United States. But the surge in overdoses has been driven by fentanyl, which comes from Mexico, not South America.

The size and scope of the U.S. military buildup in the Caribbean region is significant. There are now about 10,000 U.S. troops, most of them at bases in Puerto Rico, but also some 2,200 Marines on amphibious assault ships. In all, the Navy has eight warships and a submarine in the Caribbean.

What bannable stuff has pimphand posted? Being eccentric isn't against any rules.

I'm only telling you that his pattern of behavior is getting worse. This is more than eccentricity. His posting rate has slowed considerably, so you can easily peruse everything he's said since January. And if his online posts are an accurate reflection of his real-life sentiments, that dude is not someone I want to be around, especially with kids present, because he sounds like a ticking time bomb.

I shouldn't have to remind you how we've seen radicalized online people, who might not technically be breaking the rules of their communities, can go off, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who paused for a moment, contemplating an unhinged asshole like that being present, within a coupl3 weeks of Kirk's murder and the frequency of mass shootings in this country.

And, yeah, I think you actually do know him based on your blasé response just now.

Like what the fuck is wrong with you. Grow up.
