We should probably stop walking on this path. Because we're getting perilously close to the "shoot our way out" part.

1) The current increase in authoritarian violence and doublespeak looks more like a collapsing of the civil order than single administration off the rails. I’ve been thinking for several years about what that would look like and what I would want to do under that set of circumstances.

But

2) We may still turn it around or slow it down. Defeat deferred isn’t victory, but it’s the next best thing. For as long as I can, I intend to walk in the sun and enjoy what’s left of a free and open social order that operates according to rules and still glides along on trust and personal integrity more often than not.

Part of why I woke up feeling so liberated from worry on 11/7/25 was that the question came off the table for me. I accept the possibility of both outcomes and I’m mentally ready to do my part in either of those worlds.

If a demon crawled out of the depths of hell right in front of you, would you expect it to say or do anything materially different than MAGA is saying and doing right now? I mean, it's pretty much word-for-fucking-word what one would expect of pure evil in human form.

Texas gives DOJ list of its 18 million registered voters

The Justice Department has asked states for their voter rolls with an eye toward purging ineligible voters. Democrats say sharing the data could violate federal election law.

Texas officials have turned over the state’s voter roll to the U.S. Justice Department, according to a spokesperson for the Texas Secretary of State’s Office, complying with the Trump administration’s demands for access to data on millions of voters across the country.

The Justice Department last fall began asking all 50 states for their voter rolls — massive lists containing significant identifying information on every registered voter in each state — and other election-related data. The Justice Department has said the effort is central to its mission of enforcing election law requiring states to regularly maintain voter lists by searching for and removing ineligible voters.

Experts and state officials around the country have raised concerns over the legality of the Justice Department’s effort to obtain states’ voter rolls and whether it could compromise voter privacy protections. The Justice Department has said it is entitled to the data under federal law, and withholding it interferes with its ability to exercise oversight and enforce federal election laws.

The department has now sued 23 states and Washington, D.C., for declining to voluntarily turn over their voter rolls. Those states, which include some led by officials of both political parties, have generally argued that states are responsible for voter registration and are barred by state and federal law from sharing certain private information about voters. In an interview with “The Charlie Kirk Show” last month, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon said 13 states, including Texas, had voluntarily agreed to turn over their voter rolls.

Can someone point out a single thing that this administration has done that benefits the America people (not the billionaires). I can’t think of a single thing. You would think that they would make a mistake or stumble into something.

It’s done more for the Argentinian and Venezuelan people than it has the American people.

Trump is doing his hardest to really drop the price of oil in the US and that will help all of us who want to go out to some West Texas automobile auctions and pick up a Ford F-350 that's been repossessed at a bargain price. Mobile homes as well.

Just hope they throw in the truck nutz for free.

I'm guessing they are not looking for felons voting but instead looking at birthplace/birthplace of parents.

Those don't show... um... voting history, do they?

I can hear Vance or Miller saying "Look, if you didn't want to get deported then you should have voted for Trump. This isn't difficult, and I wish people would stop pretending like we're doing something wrong. Don't support your president and you risk deportation or prison."

I don't think there's any way they can tie you to a vote in the general election, but they'll probably know which primary you voted in.

Would a Texas resident have standing to sue the State of Texas on this?

Pissing off a chunk of the oil industry, pissing off the banks/CC/finance industry, pissing off the housing industry. Congress is going to love hearing from the lobbyists.

When I look up my voting data or that of relatives, I can see the primaries they vote in as well as general elections, but not who they voted for, but the primary is enough for those who want to know how you vote.

I've never looked into whether they keep records of who you vote for, and this doesn't say shit about that either, just about your personal information being kept confidential (but not from law enforcement or whatever).

https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/laws/address-confidentiality.shtml

All of the individual pieces of information are already available and accessed by the feds (they have your Social Security, addresses, tax info, driver's license, firearm background stuff, etc.).

I would not be surprised that if Trump gets a win on the birthright citizenship with the Supreme Court, that the DOJ immediately demands birthright citizens be purged. I don't know if this is what that request is related to, but the feds already have access to the individual pieces of information - they know where you live, etc.. If they get that win on birthright citizenship, this would be an easy way for them to see which are registered to vote and then file motions to have them purged by the states. If they took birthright citizens off of the voting roles, that would be a huge impact.

I'm just spit-balling, but as I said, the feds already have everything those records provide, minus who is voting. It's not like the feds are going to find mass numbers of fraudulent voting - the states like Texas already do that and have better tools available as we are registering to vote or actually voting.

But if they get that birthright citizenship win? All the feds have to do is run the Social Security #s or other identification numbers (which they would have from the applications of the parents, and from the applications for Social Security #s) against those voter databases and then push to purge them. Simple and could knock large numbers of voters off the rolls.

I should note that I've looked at a lot of naturalization records, birth records, etc. from a genealogical point of view, and if they get that win, it's not hard for them to make a list of all naturalized citizens, and then run those against the Social Security applications for their kids and then push to purge the kids. Those applications have the SS #'s or other identifying information for the parents.

Just guessing though, but seems like the easiest way to purge large numbers of people.

DOGE helped with all this, of course. As you know, each federal agency kept its data siloed from other agencies to prevent this type of skullduggery, but that's all gone now.

Based on the incompetent people in government- I doubt any data exists anymore.

Don't hammer your relatives over the head with a lot of stuff like it's a fast-moving internet forum, just drill in with the smaller things.

This one isn’t getting that much attention, but it is probably the worst thing Trump has tried to do and fucks the average MAGA the most.

The rate credit card companies charge is directly tied to risk. Having lower rates means they won’t take on risky clients (lower income, lower credit score), which means many people will no longer have access to credit or much less of it.

You can see why this would be of interest to Trump’s horde of under-demons. By limiting financial flexibility, it keeps the populace dependent on ruling class (tech bro oligarchs). Long term people are less able to take risks (like starting a new business) and are stuck working more in lower and lower paying jobs.

The dream for the hell lords is for no one to be paid at all. Modern feudalism and serfdom, where all wealth is controlled by a select few with absolute authority over life is given to our new kings and lords.

Nothing these guys do or propose is for the “good of the people”, it is all towards the goal of total control and absolutism - but wrapped in a nice load that MAGA can swallow.
