We just had one of the dryest Junes this century but strangely enough we didn't have any days over 100.  In fact we haven't hit 100 since May.  That's unexpected.

Yep, here’s the summer we all know and hate.

The stretch from yesterday through Labor Day has quickly become my least favorite time of the year in Texas. If I could make it work financially, I'd absolutely love to spend basically the next 10 weeks living out of state somewhere with a more desirable climate.

Labor Day... lol.  More like Halloween at least and possibly Thanksgiving.

Haven't hit 100 at all at my house in NW Travis all year.  It's been pleasant.

Almost zero rain though, which sucks.

I know it stays hot long past Labor Day, but there are usually some short-lived cool fronts in late September and October to provide some relief and the mornings and evenings become a lot more tolerable.  And it's football season, dove season....etc.

For the next 2 months, it's just punishing heat and humidity 24 hours a day and there ain't much to do beyond go to work, hop in a tepid pool, or watch baseball indoors.

All in all, we've had worse Junes.  Hell, we had a little shower at our house yesterday and it turned it downright pleasant in the evening.

Whereas the boy is in central Germany....where it's 95 degrees, and NOBODY has AC.  He draws his curtains all day, opens his window and cranks up a portable fan at night, and sleeps on top of the sheets.  And is still hot.  Man....god bless AC.

He should get into AC sales in Europe

Those little portable small room units are selling like hotcakes. My daughter invested the £175 in one early in her stay in London, to make her room tolerable when they have a heat wave.

I'm seriously considering this in the pacific northwest.  Or anywhere that thinks they don't need AC.

this summer fucks (so far).  We're only entering the second quarter, but I love our gameplan thus far.

Minus all the dead 8 year old girls I agree.

It looks like the next 4 weeks are going to suck in dallas but to get this far into summer before the shitty heat starts is a huge win. Anything under 100 the next 4 weeks I'll take. The hottest 3 weeks of the year are the last week in July and the first 2 weeks of August.

Hasn't broken 100 yet at my house in all of 2025 so far, and long range forecast has it staying under 100 pretty much for the rest of July.  That's about all I can ask for.

Long stretch of hot, dry, sunny days ahead this week, which has actually been the exception to the rule so far this Summer. Oh well, at least it hasn't been anything like 2023.

Anything you might call "Fall" is still a long ways off. First noticeable cool front of the year typically doesn't make it to Texas until sometime between 9/20 and 10/15 and usually doesn't stick around for more than a day or two.

Was in Houston for a couple of days. All i had to do was walk for 15 minutes before my clothes soaked through. Hotel window looked like it had been raining. Nope. Condensation from the AC.

We have it good here in Austin, a city not built on a fucking swamp.

There is absolutely a difference in swamp ass between the two cities.

I will say the clouds yesterday in Austin made it semi-tolerable. Still the case today but if it clears up, I'm this little stretch is over.

Still have yet to break 100 at my house in NW Travis.  If the below holds true, it won't have broken 100 so far this entire year, all the way into August.  I can't recall that ever happening before.

Lucky. We've got a 50% chance for storms later today and 40% chance again tomorrow.

After that:

2021 we didn't hit 100 in Houston all year round.  Got close on New Years Eve when it hit 95 and was 25 just twelve hours later.  That was fun.

LOL forgot about that. I had just moved back to Houston and was literally pissed off it was 95 on NYE.

Zach on Fox 7 said this morning that we may not see 100 for all of July. Would be amazing.

Mother Nature will just make up for it in December and January.

Bring on snow-pocalypse2.0.  The BGE is ready, unlike all you turds with plug in, outdoor easy-bake ovens

Not sure which trip it was, but I don't think I've ever been more miserable than being dragged around old New Orleans cemeteries, hungover, on an August afternoon.

The stretch ahead from 7/28 to 8/13 is historically the hottest period of the year in Texas, based on daily average high temperature. Gonna be hot and muggy out there for quite while, but still not seeing any triple digits in the forecast.

Interestingly, even though it seems like it's been a rather mild Summer this year, the guys on SCW were talking the other day about how 2025 will end up as the 7th hottest summer of the last ~150 years in Houston based on daily average temperature. This is because although daytime highs have not been extreme, we're not really cooling off much at nights. Can definitely confirm this was the case last night, when I went outside to grab a drink out of the patio fridge around 10 pm and I'm sure the heat index had to still be above 90.

We got a nice little shower in Driftwood in the late afternoon yesterday.  10 min of really hard rain followed by about 10min of light rain.  It immediately cooled everything off.

Interesting... felt very different in SW Austin last night.  I was out around 10 PM and it felt amazing.   Checked my phone and it said 78.  I'll take it.

I've got about half the days in the forecast above 100. Fortunately, the humidity is pretty low out here.

Speaking of which, I came across this summertime dew point map on Reddit and thought I'd share, just because.

Yup felt good up in NW Travis as well.

Still no days at or above 100 at my house all year, and current forecast has nothing above 97 all the way through 8/11, and that includes some overnight lows in the low 70s.  I call that a GD miracle!
