Ndukwe was great last year but missed almost entire season. I believe Houston has been pursuing tackle alternatives in the portal which suggests they at least are not the most bullish on him returning to a high level in 2026. Or maybe they just knew he was always planning on leaving? Definitely some red flags with that one but a very interesting name to watch.

It's been posted before but interesting to see where UT's targets sit. Raleek had good blocking (ASU is hidden under Nebraska). Smothers did not. Texas in the laughable zone.

YAC is obviously only one metric for RBs that doesn't favor smaller guys like Raleek.

OK, sure, but what these "statistics" fail to show is that we were literally tied for FIRST IN THE NATION in yards after tackle.

Recovery isn't too bad although he is more likely to dislocate it again in the future. One article mentioned that he would undergo surgery.

Yeah, I can't find any info on him post surgery, but patellar kneecap dislocations generally have a shorter rehab time (he should be good to go now), but there is a pretty high likelihood of recurrence. But all the info that I saw on him was vague so honestly it may not be patellar and could involve the ACL, PCL, MCL, and/or LCL and the joint capsule.

TCU doesn't have the clout we do. It's going to be tough for them to pull nationally from the top of the portal.

I dont blame Sark for going all out at the top only for guys who are the best. The Michigan guys are starters on a Big 10 team that is known for OL development. They pushed hard for Baugh. They're pushing hard for Coleman. They took their shots at the top and are pivoting to the next level and starting to land targets.

They absolutely need to have scouts scour the entirety of college football at every level for talent that's being developed. No matter where it is located.

As far the players in the portal, that's happening with every top level program. We had the #1 recruiting class out of HS last year. Those guys were crazy expensive, and with the change to the system this year in rev share you just can't afford to pay the ones that are not developing quick enough what they made last year to sit the bench. All these teams around the country have rev share money and starting jobs to throw at these guys. No one is convincing them to stay without offering up that bump in pay.

I don’t disagree with you, but you also have to be realistic about your chances of landing said players. So far, the strategy of money whipping the best hasn’t worked on the oline. But we don’t need and may not be able to afford the best at every position; going from well below average to slightly above average at a few positions would have had us in the playoffs.

I’m fully aware and in agreement with your last paragraph. It’ll be interesting to see how that impacts HS recruiting going forward.

Strangely, perhaps, that username isn't a reflection of my girth. My waist is roughly as big around as Elko's thumbs. 🤣

IIRC Justus Terry cited the comparative tax advantage when someone asked him on signing day how much he considered USC.

Can we not do this? People only use it to justify whatever decision they make. It’s not a deciding factor.

Doubt it’s offered until brought up. Still is an advantage though if it helps drain resources on the ones that agree to it.

We just gotta find a guy who's more interested in hanging with his bros than funding Trump accounts.

“Look, I’m the luckiest dude in the world,” Cuban said. “To be able to be in this situation – and I know they’ll be good to me and all that kind of stuff. I get the nice suite. I have to pay for it, but at least I get first crack at it. The reward is, when we win, every Hoosier fan everywhere – my buddies, my boys. I played rugby at IU, so all my teammates, a bunch of them are here. They flew in from all over.

“All my buddies that I grew up with, went to IU with, lived with in Dallas. They’re all here. They all flew down. Come on, now. You don’t live forever. These are the moments.”

Not do what? I’m not saying it’s decisive for any player, but people do weigh economic factors and Terry actually said this at the time. I’m not trying to turn this into a CR discussion.

No CR either and I ain’t hatin’ on you

My anger is with being led to believe for much my adult life that the Mavericks, Spurs, Astros, Rockets and Rangers might actually beat out the Lakers, Warriors, Yankees, etc in free agency because of taxes. It just never seemed to pan out.

It’s a factor, not the only one for sure. Also properly taxes are high in Texas and most of these big pro guys probably buy. If I’m in college and might play for a different school every year I would rent in Texas or Florida and realize the full state tax difference. Just one part of the financial consideration but it would probably only matter if everything else were equal.
