YouTube’s algorithm is awesome.  Brings me stuff it thinks l might like, then sucks me in for a hour.  Recently it’s been hitting me with 20-30 yo music.  Very disappointed I didn’t listen to this stuff when I was young.

I never gave Kid Rock a chance.  His first 5 years of hard rock kicks ass.  Just one big dis track on the World.

Father John Misty, I've heard of him but only recently gotten into his music after becoming obsessed with the 'She cleans up" song

MJ Lenderman

That's off the top of my head

User name is not checking out.

Also, in the spirit of the thread, The Cars.  Pick an album pretty much.  The Cars, Candy-O, and Shake it Up! each is a total banger of an album.

Obviously, I was aware of them in the 80s and heard several songs.  But I never leaned into them.

Also, because of the amount of radio play, I slept on Tom Petty's Wildflowers as a total album.  And although I obviously heard many of the songs, I only bought the album in the last five years.

I'll bite. Didn't know anything about The Whispers until a couple weeks ago. This is a jam.

The Whispers kick ass. My fave:

I seriously don't know how it happened, but I somehow missed Airbourne until recently. My nephew of all people made me aware of them. As a lifelong AC/DC stan I'm really flabbergasted how this came to pass.

Yeah, my experience was similar.  I heard all the singles in real time because terrestrial radio was still a thing.

Only after I bought the CD (years later) did I appreciate the front-to-back high-level songwriting.
